I don't think you thought through one of your previous statements in your Author's notes, about the corruption being inevitable, deeply enough. You then went on to describe how Jake and company will eventually succumb to it. These statements conflict with the purpose behind writing a novel in the first place. A continuation of this line of thought being that by you saying that something is "inevitable" you are changing the story from an "if" to a "when". It says that you have already decided what will happen and that you are closed off to any other avenue's of plot. This is an unacceptable mindset for an author, any author, for that matter. Writing is about freedom, many authors believe that the perfect story will write itself, but that freedom is being cast aside with your previous statements. Another thing I want to call attention to is how 'similar' these parasitic insects are to digestors. You've written Jakes internal monologue to go over this line of thought multiple times thus far so that also brings to question exactly what the purpose of the novel is in the first place. If this corruption is 'inevitable' and these parasites are so incredibly similar to the digestors, doesn't that also mean that the eventual destruction of the Oracle as a whole and the ultimate victory of the digestors is also 'inevitable'? Where is the story in that? Ark, I ask you, would you want to read a story about a hero's failure? Preconceived notions aside, let's look at it from a different perspective. Do you think the Harry Potter books would have been as successful as they were had Voldemort been the ultimate victor? What about something more recent, say Avenger's Endgame? People will read a story about a hero failing. But they will make movies about one succeeding.

100 kilos is only a little more than 220 lbs. You're telling me you can't run with that much weight?

One could say that hurrying there at the fastest speed he could muster was truly a tough task for Fatty Hart. At a height of less than 1.6 meters tall, and with a weight of close to 100 kilograms, running was practically torture to him!
