At times, they had to hop onto moving conveyor belts and scramble back off before they became part of the assembly line. Others, they walked thin catwalks over rivers of magma, dodging material-moving machines that swept a bit too low for comfort overhead. All the while, the cacophony never ceased.

The complex was built into itself, onto itself, and through itself, a manufactured labyrinth at the center of the larger labyrinth. It was a sort of palace, strangely — a monument to industrial domination rather than regal rule — and a city unto itself, one that never slept.

One corridor led to a great hall that circled a pit without bottom. Grand pillars of carved marble marked the edge. Statues overlooked all who walked around the pit. Then, as they circled the pit back to where they started, the same entrance corridor would lead them somewhere new, deeper and deeper into the labyrinth.

Extending a hand, she helped Madison up onto her mount's back, still happily riding the high of taming it. She missed a brief exchange between Uber and Madison behind her, but the stream caught Uber's congratulatory finger guns and Madison's playful, head-knocking 'Tee-hee~!' reply.

Ingots of that bronzish metal that was so favored in the labyrinth were pulled onto a belt. The belt brought them to a great crucible forge. The metal then yielded to magma-fueled heating, melting into a burbling vat of liquid bronze to be used however the manufactory needed.
