Synopsis
Having left his hometown with shattered relationships due to his decision to join the military Matthew Rong returns after nine and a half years, uncertain of how people will treat him.
Lexi Yao, the only person who supported his decision, left less than two years later leaving her family and her child. Just weeks after the birth of her child in an arranged family marriage her husband of less than a year died, putting her in a position that she could not cope. Eventually, when she was ready, she returned to her hometown to resume full-time care of her child bringing her now successful fashion business with her.
Matthew had never forgotten the promises Lexi made to marry him prior to and in the twelve months after he joined the military, despite her marriage and becoming a widow. He hoped that he would be able to marry her and secure for them both the future that they had believed was there for them as teenagers.
Just after Matthewโs return, having reluctantly agreed to drive Matthew home after a celebration for not only his return but the engagement of their brothers, Lexi and Matthew were kidnapped by the terrorist who helped make Matthewโs career seeing his rapid promotion to General. To protect Lexi, Matthew knew he needed to use changes in the law to protect her and their assets that the Terrorist sought to exploit and committed to her through a forced marriage ceremony at the hands of the Terrorists.
For Matthew this was the one thing that had kept him going, and for Lexi she only agreed to protect herself believing there was no legal validity in the ceremony.
On their rescue Lexi was confronted with the truth of another forced marriage and was determined to escape this to have her own life, free from domination by men.
Matthew not only was left to fight to secure the love of his life but to protect his friends and family from the terrorist who decided that they were fair game in the pursuit of his goals.
Can Matthew succeed and win? Can Lexi learn to trust and forgive Matthew? Will the one secret that she has been keeping for eight years drive them apart?
This is the story of their journey, with their friends and family along for the ride.

Ok it is the shameless author here. I decided that I would kick off the reviews. Yes this novel moves through the past to the present and may seem a little cliche at times, but for me the closeness of family, that even shows through at the early stage shows that family is the most important thing. Matthew's position as a solider challenges both him and Lexi and their relationship journey, with twists, turns and fights along the way, but will they succeed in their relationship? That even to me is not clear. I love Chester and Phillips story as well. Yes a side story, and may challenge the views of some people as to relationships that are acceptable to society, but their perseverance to get to where they are and where they will go is sweet tinged by the sadness of dealing with cancer (and yes I have left the actual cancer up to your imagination as I did not want to pigeon hole it - it can be any cancer you want it to be).

I don't know what the funky is going on here . is this a story about Mathew and Lexi or Philip and Chester?? cos I'm 20 chapters in and so far 90% is Chester and Philip . I signed up for a military story (literally what I typed in the search bar ) . as cute as this is I've been misled and therefore disappointed in the bio. Great story though .
The author had made me see how a military world is how caring they are and the risk they face as well as their family, those who serve their country faithfully I pray for their divine protection, this novel also shows that some understand the unison of the religion.

I love that this consists of Lexi and Matthew's story starting and continuing from Offer to the CEO ๐ค your character development is amazing, and it you always amazed me with every new detail given about who a character was. My only qualms are that I wish you has a Beta to help with any spelling or grammatical errors in your work, as it can be a bit confusing at times and there is no sense of what time of year/how time is moving in the story. It's rarely mentioned what time of year it is, the first I truly remember was Christmas time. Please keep writing because I would love a story about James and Alecia's time in Australia!!!

I loved this author's first novel and this 2nd novel does not disappoint. The story is solid and the characters are beautifully fleshed out. There are minor grammatical errors. The author just needs a dependable editor to iron out those small issues. Sadly, I was originally her editor, but I flaked out on her. I apologize again dear author. This author updates regularly and is serious about making a good novel. I think we'll see her works published on major platforms some day.

Nice story. Should write more. characters are really good. Quite emotional. It broke my heart thinking about soldiers. Male character description is really good.

4 stars simply because you deserve it....In the sense that you written close to a 100 chps. ..congrats.... but I don't like your story..... (If your story was based on something that happened to you and you alone ignore what is next....otherwise do read on) Look I just read the summary and I decided that I don't like your story because....see the man and girl were apparently lovers in their teens but the man decided to go to war and the women got married because of family told her too and had child...but the thing is that it seems that both man and woman promised to get married in their teens.....where is the love and is it worth it...If they loved each other ..The man would've waited for the girl...and so would have the girl..hell she should have loved him enough to abandon her family for him...but noooo..... Why would you write this? (Mind you I am not bashing you nor am I trying to insult you...I am honestly asking why would you write this. If this is a story..you could have used your limitless imagination to write a happy story..ie: the woman and man ran away together...or the girl simply waited for him faithfully and so did he)...basically something happy ...like a soldier retuning to his family and living happily whilst trying to get over the war horrors and also rasing his children.... I mean reality , (not always) is already filled hoes/sluts/rapists/wife beaters,etc..so why not write something happy... plus so many novels here always have this kind of separation ****....so why not write something happy? Once again I am neither insulting nor demeaning your work....you are probably a good writer...I am just asking
