Synopsis
Rowan sees beauty in death. The Order he has sworn to obey only sees defilement.
As the reviled Caretaker of the Order, Rowan has accepted his role as a dutiful outcast because he believes it is the only way to prove his worth to the man who holds his sisters’ souls as collateral.
With his magic and his voice, Rowan can absorb death and transform it, but only in ways the Order deems acceptable to maintain the stability of the reality it claims to protect
Order must subdue Disorder. Reality must triumph over illusion. He is tainted and always will be.
Rowan has never questioned those lessons, but that changes the night he harvests a crimson soul that is more than human and chooses to keep it a secret.
When Rowan’s song transforms that soul into a beautiful and mysterious man he names Wren, he is forced to accept that sometimes duty is a lie and illusion is the only thing you can trust.
As the fabric of the Order begins to unwind and a new kind of Disorder takes hold, Rowan will need to choose again, stand with the Order that held him down, or forge a new path with Wren at his side.
He may be the only one who can restore balance to the worlds, but only if he can find balance within himself first.

This book is set in a non-heteronormative world, so you will see various gender identities/expressions and types of love.

Still reeling from the new magic that coursed under his skin and unsure of how to react to the desire that threatened to take control of him, Rowan froze.
Wren's hot breath against his mouth sent a jolt of pleasure through his body, and he choked back a groan.
A different kind of panic flared in Rowan's chest, burning him as if he were the one on fire. This was what he wanted, what he'd thought about every night since Wren left.
But wanting more was one thing. Acting on it was another.
He'd spent so much of his life hiding, he didn't know how to do anything else.
One corner of Wren's mouth twitched as Rowan pulled away. When he attempted to free himself from Wren's grasp, Wren just hauled him closer.
Rowan liked that he didn't have to think about what to do next. His bare chest thudded against Wren's torso, and the heat from Wren's body merged with Rowan's skin, melting him from the inside out.
"What did you just do to me?" Wren's deep voice vibrated against Rowan's chest.
"The Disorder of your illusion was holding you captive. I…I absorbed it."
"Oh? Where did you learn to do that? Have I been gone that long?" Wren's grip loosened slightly on Rowan's wrists as if he was satisfied now that Rowan was practically sitting on top him.
Rowan stared at Wren's lips. He opened his mouth to protest, but immediately closed it again.
"I know you aren't going to say that I shouldn't touch you." Wren's free hand splayed over the small of Rowan's back. "Not when you started it."
Rowan's breath hitched. "No. I'm not going to say that anymore. Not to you."
"I thought you were afraid to be touched." Wren's fingers traced a circle over the curve of Rowan's spine as if testing for a reaction.
"I know that I'm not afraid of you." Rowan waited for the panic to set in, but all he felt was desire. "With you, I want…"
"You want what?"
"I want more."
Triumph flared in Wren's gaze before he narrowed his eyes. "Really? Then why are you still trying to get away from me?"

This story is a delicious masterpiece🍰. I haven't read it all yet, but what I've read so far is a fresh glass of cold water in the middle of the night. it's refreshing, new, and a lot LOT of world building and character development! it's so different from other stories with a charm that'll keep you coming back for more. Not to mention the smexy scenes that'll surely have your nose bleeding 😤🙌 10/10. Some parts may make you cry, others laugh, but most of all you can appreciate the long haired men and nothing more. our free spirit and charmer deserve more love 💕
I have never been turned on while reading about death in my life! While Ronan is seeing death and Wren seeing life, I'm busy seeing sexual chemistry. Lord help me!!🥹🥹 This book managed to make me feel things I can quite comprehend. I haven't finished reading though but I can safely say, it's well-written, and everything is just amazing! The Mc's are sweethearts, I love them. I love the book. I love the author. I just love everything.
I love this book so far. The writing is fantastic. If you like something that has a more epic feel to it, you should give it a try. It seems like it will be a true romance that focuses on story and character development. I can’t wait to see the relationships develop between Rowan and his love interest. If you like The Untamed/Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation and MXTX in general, you might want to give this a try. It has a similar vibe.

I absolutely ADORE this book! Everything about it is just amazing. The world building is detailed and all the characters, even the background ones, are well fleshed out. Story-wise it is INCREDIBLE. I did not expect to come out of this having found one of the most well written, original stories I had ever read. The character development, the romance, the plot twists, it is all to die for. 10/10 highly recommend this book, keep up the good work author!

Where can I find a man like Wren? Or Lysander? Can I have one of each? This book is sooo good. The way the characters speak feels real, except better. I can't wait to read more.
Love love love. This writing is so good. I recommend this book if you want to take your time enjoying a good story. The ML is so freaking hot. I feel like he loves the MC, and everyone else he might murder. I love when the MC bosses him around and the dangerous ML just takes it. Well, maybe he pokes back for fun. Great story. Keep going!
I am so in love with these characters. Rowan is soooooo likeable. I love how he is a mix of unsure and fiesty. It is so adorable when he and Wren get together. Talk about chemistry. Great job author making a believable romance that has both sexiness and substance. I will confess…I LOVE Lysander. I know he’s a secondary character, but I sweat everytime he is in a chapter. PLEASE give me more Lysander. I’d even read a whole story featuring him and Nicasi. Hint, hint.
What can I say? Read this book! The writing is superb, and the world building is very well thought out and unique. The characters feel real. I wish there was something I could do to get more people to support the author. I feel like the romance between Rowan and his Prince of Illusions is on a different level. I can’t get enough.
Let me just say, I LOVE Rowan. He is so sweet and I want him to be happy. Wren is perfect for him. He is HOT. I love that he is dangerous to everyone else, but has a soft side he only shows his Caretaker. I can't wait for things to get spicy. The writing is amazing. Very easy to read and engaging. Picking up this book is easily one of the best decisions that I've made this year. All the characters are detailed and complex, and even though I like Wren best (can never resist the bad boy types), it's safe to say that I love them very, very much. Although set in a world with fantasy and magic, all the characters' struggles and conflicts are so very real. This is a story written with so much soul and love, and a choice you certainly won't regret.
I really like it. The author writes really good, and it is nice to see a world where all sexual preferences are treated equally. It is a refreshing change from real life. Thank you author. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Complex characters, an inventive use of magic, great worldbuildkng, gorgeous writing, and a very unconventional love story set against the backdrop of a tyrannical cult. Rowan and Wren are adorable!
I am really loving this story. Rowan is a very relatable character, and i like the unique fantasy world. It feels like the author put a lot of thought into the world building. The banter between the ML and MC is top notch. Author has a talent for dialogue.
This book is a hidden treasure. The romance is next level. I like the way the author takes their time with the story, but it doesn't feel slow paced. I love the characters so much. Excellent writing.

This is such a lovely (epic) story so far 🌸. The author does an amazing job expressing the main character’s feelings through both the dialogue and narration. Rowan is such a sweet soul, and as I read more about him and his actions, my heart continues to flutter!! And the moment the ML was introduced, I couldn’t contain myself 🤩! I was so excited!! Rowans chemistry with the ML is IT, so attractive, clever, and sweet, as I’ve mentioned. I’m so excited to see how this pair will continue on in such a fantasy world. Both characters have suffered in the past, so I’m hoping they can be each other’s remedy 🥰.
