Synopsis

This novel is currently undergoing a rewrite. Expect a lot of change from the previous version of the novel.

Synopsis:

In a fantasy world ruled by kings and queens possessing great magical power, Kant Icurus Maybale is the only prince on the Aceaton Continent who does not possess magic. However, what he does possess, that nobody else does, is his past memories of the time when he was a Mechanical Engineer on Earth. With nothing but knowledge, brains, and wisdom, he dares to bring this medieval-esque fantasy world into the industrial era, and gain unimaginable wealth and power. Along the way, powerful forces that feel threatened by his rise in dominance will do whatever it takes to bring him down! Will he be able to conquer the continent, and potentially the world, to usher in a new age, or will he get crushed by the existing world order?

I have to drop a review here since I replied in a different review, which might not be read unless readers open that other review's threads. Take note of the "anti-hero" tag. As I replied in another review, I am unsure if anti-hero meant to intentionally act against common "hero" tropes, or a type of villain that does what he does to survive, even at the cost of being hated. i mention this because of other reviews complaining about the MC, "being made into a puppet", "uncaring of family", being cold-hearted, stupid or foolish. My retrospect of this is that I noticed that the side-characters and world background is written to be more cunning/intelligent/motivated, much more than the supposed MC -- now why are the other characters written in such a way, that clearly shows the author has the ability to also make the MC act "more intelligent/less dumb"... as if it was done one purpose, as if the MC is being forced to a lower importance of the story than the rest of the world... It seemed suspicious to me at least, in fact it kind of weaves an "anti-plot-armor" vibe; combine this with the "slice-of-life" tag, that hints to readers that this will be a SLOW-going storybuilding, makes me anticipate what this author is trying to cook up -- this is NOT a story where the reader is spoon-fed convenient plot devices, where everything always goes in MC's favor -- I admit that it is obvious that the MC is foolishly flaunting his advantages (inventions and tech, that gets stolen or manipulated from him), but it is delivered in such an obvious way, suspiciously obvious... TL:DR - the author writes the background world and characters, in a very rich and intelligent way, showing that the author is capable of making really good story-development. Then why is the MC so "dumb"? Is it on purpose? Food for thought.

lovely story, keep going. Im sure it will get more popular as time goes on. The world and setting is realistic, the tec is accurate, and the speed is very accurate. I love it! Cant wait for more! I've been dreaming of a story like this for ages!

The story was promising but then got ruined. There is nothing new. He keeps 'inventing' stuff and shows it off to everyone. Then proceeds to get threatened by others to submit to them, which he happily does—pretty much a spineless protagonist. The only ones who truly loved him were his parents. In the beginning, we are told that he loves his parents so much and that he is happy for their supposed trust in him. He later abandons them coldly and cooperates with his father's killers. The author can't decide on his personality. I honestly hate the protagonist very much and can not continue reading this book. Loved the idea, though. Too bad.

Started out pretty good, with just a few questionable choices by the MC, then in less than 10 chapters everything completely derailed. MC suddenly did not care about his family, and became a puppet state with a smile on his face. At least give up his thoughts and why he did it. Anyway, dropped.

After 40 chapter I can write this is a decent book, but there are several holes in the story that go unaddressed, it’s historically inaccurate, and requires the reader to make huge leaps of faith. I know the engineer in a medieval word is hot topic, but this story tends to the fantastical more than realism.

Great writing quality, not many grammar mistake, constant and fast update. Although Im bit confused with how people around him never questioned where he gain his knowledge particularly his aide that do everything that MC said never questioning how he gain his knowledge. Im also bit annoyed with how author always describe characters faces and clothes with too much detail like what pattern, how many buttons there, etc. With so much characters there including minor characters it became annoying. But overall its decent novel

I did notice the rewriting note, but maybe there are some pointers: The story it's interesting, however, the MC has some inconsistencies, being an Engineer with Military expertise and especially an American should know some strategic points that need to be prioritized: 1) Intelligence it's key, also it's usually divided into inner intelligence agencies or even has some specialized, take the USA as an example: CIA, Homeland Security, FBI, and some others from the Armed Services, Police used to build their own too, UK have MI5 and MI6, among others. 2) Technology building: DARPA: development of air, water ships, or land transports, mostly secretly, in deep underground facilities or inconspicuous places, also helps in war times, you can check: China Iron Wall project, Sweeden underground facilities, among others. 3) It calls my attention to how worldbuilding establishes waterways across the Continent, but MC prefers railways and it's not wrong to do, so if you want to strengthen your domain, waterways transport it's the cheapest because beats the volumes transported, say: 1 container ship can carry up to 24,000 TEUs, this feat can not do it with railroad transports, even double decks it will be kilometers of carriers cars, the shipbuilding industry very important, also helps with strategic industries like submarines or high altitude airplanes, very useful in spying or covert and shadow ops. 4) Infrastructure, Oil (chemicals), and electricity: strategic keys to civilization developments. About firearms: there's a myth usually in novels: powder invention doesn't mean instant development of their use in war, it took hundreds of years to see like that, even their use in proficient ways took nearly 200 years, from muskets to revolvers or rifles, it need nitrocellulose, even from cannon balls to artillery shells, also: even in the US civil war the use of balloons was normal, it took almost 50 years to find the better way to aerial use of surveillance: the airplane, and it took long time to figure out all comes to wing angle to help the uplift, to start flying.

this one has a really good world building this is rare to see someone that make the mc as total average people without cheat like power, the way kant use his knowledge to advance his kingdom without aid of system is really something

Thought this was a kingdom building novel yet was surprised to see the MC completely bend over and becoming a puppet leader. This left a bad taste in my mouth. Where's the kingdom building? Where's the Explore, Expand, Exploit, Exterminate? There's a conquer tag, probably misleading since it's the MC who's getting conquered. There's no kingdom building to be had when you're a vassal, author.

    - Writing quality: 1 star This Asian story looks like an MTL translation. There are also Chinese letters: 激 激 - Updating stability: meh -Story development: 2 star The story is confusing to read. The Chinese letters are a nuisance and there are too many plot holes... - Character desing: 0 star This is the typical Asian story in which the main character (Asian) is a psychopath, with jade skin and a woman's body, in addition to the low intellectual level and common sense of the characters. The main protagonist seems to suffer from mental retardation and schizophrenia because his decisions and dialogues are so stupid; then the author reduces the intelligence and common sense of the other characters to try to make the protagonist seem like a misunderstood genius.
