With the approaching Harvest Festivities, Tiny finds herself in the palm of a powerful man who's determined to break her. Excerpt:

A shudder escapes my lips. Chills shoot down my spine as I stare at a pair of foreign eyes. My reflection appears small at the sign of a charred woman. Her scorched skin rippled with sparking embers, and blistered lips curled into a snarl.

The guilt of survival clawed my throat. For once in my life, I met a spirit clinging to my existence. A reminder that I surpassed the odds of death and cheated my fate. Whimpers erupt from my throat. My body is frozen in time while the sound of my blood swims in my ears. A cruel reminder of the curse I’ve been entrusted to dwell in. So many worthy individuals met their end while mine had only begun.

A piercing pain burned through my skin as the enchanting woman placed her blackened fingertips into my shoulder. Her long nails dug into my flesh fiercely. Surges of blood stain the sink cabinets as tears sprung to my eyes- watching the young woman who used every last breath to cry into my ear. “Run!”

Her touch sent me crumbling to the floor with a roaring pain in my temple. The last thing I remember is splintering door hinges and two pairs of feet before me. The bare-footed singed woman, and steel-toed boots of a powerful alpha.

SHAMELESS AUTHOR HERE! Thank you so much for giving Ember a chance! I appreciate all the feedback you provide (rather if it's 1* or 5*). So to answer a few questions if you're still considering reading Ember, here's my honest rundown:  1. "Werewolf?... So this is another twilight?" Short answer: Absolutely not. To elaborate, I decided to write Ember because of the bad rep werewolf stories tend to receive. In a category that should be filled with suspense and supernatural settings, it's often demoted and mocked. Therefore, Ember focuses on a paranormal thriller aspect as a dark coming-of-age story without the emphasis on glistening bodies and six-packs.  2. "Okay, but what makes your mc unique?" Ember revolves around a young woman- Tiny Calaway- who's approaching her transition. She's not the strongest, fastest, or most resilient member of her pack. But she is sharp-minded, quick to act, and realistic. She doesn't sulk in her disfigurement or allow her past to conquer her outlook on life. Her respect is earned through her actions, and not because of her role in the novel.  3. "Will she be overpowered?" No. Tiny's strategy in her battles does not revolve around her strength or ability. If she relied on her physical strength, then she would face more hardships than already. In fact, Tiny relies on her logic and quick thinking to overcome obstacles and defeat powerful opponents. Every victory she receives is not by luck or pity. It was earned.  4. "Is there romance?" Yes, but it's a slow burn. Unfortunately, there's no action (female-lead category) or even thriller/paranormal. The only genre that came close to Ember was Fantasy-romance. As stated before, Ember does not zone in on the romantic aspect but rather as a paranormal thriller.  5."How often are updates?" 1-3 days a week! 6. "Mature Content.. What should we expect?" Considering this is a novel of werewolves and supernatural elements, it's not depicted as pretty by any means. I refer mature content as animalistic urges, the description of transition, mentions of blood/death, paranormal encounters, adult dialect, etc.  7. "Is there a plot twist?" Yes. The story isn't as cut and dry as it may seem.  8. "Really... you gave your novel 5*?" Yes, but only to catch your attention. If you think my story deserves less, I will highlight the bad as much as the good.  Sincerely, MARS (onedaysomedayy)

Sorry for the late review because of my busy affairs. Unfortunately, I have to give this review a pretty low score. Because there are some issues I've encountered whilst reading the 2 chapter: 1. Too much useless info-dumps. 2. Sentences don't have any engagements. 3. And the sentences felt hard to read because it contained too much sticky words and redundancies. Maybe I reckon you to using the Prowritingaid free (in which are better than Grammarly) to fixing your slightly messed up chapter sentences. However, I will change my mind and delete this review if you insisted on conducting the overhaul of this novel. No need to change the whole storyline, just fix the sentences so it'll be easier to read. Thanks in advance.

Wolf story, but, it's well written! I know, many don't like this type of story, but I am telling you, this one is well thought out, the characters have... You know, actuall personallities! Like they're supposed to! The mystery and battle scenes are well written, yeah, this isn't just normal romance, there are other things happening! That's why, I recommand you read at least the first ten chapters before deciding on it! Good luck, author!

I was a bit hesitant to start reading when I saw werewolves as I still have PTSD from Twilight, however I was pleasantly surprised as I read further on. The unity of the pack is expressed beautifully, for good and bad. Dialogue between characters feels natural and easy to read, descriptions are out of this world. Please keep up the good work Author!

Great I quite like the way you set up and directly introduced the characters. The way the characters are written is quite interesting because it makes good scenes. Just one little tip. Maybe you can write "Cyrus" directly, "Beta Cyrus" Sounds weird.

This seems to me like a wonderful beginning to a dark but stunning coming-of-age story. Your writing is beautiful. It has a clear fluency and rhythm that speaks volumes. I have to confess that I’m jealous of your grammar. I started writing to practice my English, and up till now, I still make mistakes with grammar and awkward word choices. All scenes are nicely paced, and the dialogue is natural. Overall, a beautiful story in the making. Well done!
