Author is a great fan of WMW; however, the story has a totally different setting, magic system, and characters. This one is definitely not as grimdark as that. Other than that, this story is also based on a lot of other novels with similar setting of summoning players.
The story is a bit slow pace at the start, but it will pick up once the setting is established.

My Magus Academy is run by players is a good novel whit a bit of slice of life and slow start but is slowly developing and at curent chapter the action is starting to flow and the players will be able to show what they got or die in wierd ways maybe even funny ways =d.... give it a go it's a nice novel whit stable development and so far it's world building is interesting . Tho i prefer to read it on the original source than hear or rater prefer ordinal release page more
I think I've read this type of novel in Chinese novels, MCs lie about VR games being realistic but actually their souls are transported to another world, like this novel.I'm not saying this author is a copy paste because in terms of story and setting it's very different.
