Sterling has a secret. Her breath is flammable. As an outcast, she is forced to go from place to place, never truly being accepted for what she is and fearing her quirk might kill those she loves, she avoids forming meaningful bonds. Her secret starts to take over her, threatening to destroy her and only finding her happy place will stop the fires from consuming her.

Sterling thought she was done for until she remembered her happy place. The King's fairytale circus. The place where humans go to be entertained, and fairytale creatures go to escape being hunted by the King and his knights.

With the help of a mysterious stranger, and Dolly the talking horse, Sterling becomes determined to accomplish a dream she never thought possible for her; joining the circus as a fire breather. But what happens when Grey-Anthony, her favorite person in the world, and the circus Ringmaster sees through her facade and is determined to stunt her dream at every turn?
