Cyrus runs a popular perfumery but he is often seen as cold and unapproachable. Even though he gave her a job and a place to stay she is still very alert around him because the first day she met he killed a man in cold blood.

Inorder for her to not destroy the city with her magical powers he makes her wear a jade bracelet that keeps her from using her abilities. As they spent time together she slowly realizes that she is in love with him, even though he has a secret night job and other secrets, but as soon as she confesses to him. He rejects her and sends her away for training because she once told him that he wanted to be able to protect herself as he didn’t have the time to train her himself. Secretly he wants to send her away because he feels the same about her but doesn’t think he deserves to be happy.

On her first day to another city she comes across a man, Zhao Yulong, who gave her a very bad impression. Later she found out that he was supposed to teach her to fight but that didn’t change the fact that she didn’t like him. He, like Cyrus, also has a lot of secrets. Months later they fell in love until his ex-wife shows up and tells her that he killed her when he promised to love her for eternity. The couple has to face a lot of difficulties as someone known as the dark mage stirs up trouble in the nation.
