In an alternate Earth where mythology and fantasy were reality but now simply things of the past, divinities of various pantheons waged war with monsters in the event known as the Ragnarok War. Both sides fought each other to near extinction while one group ascended: Humanity.
A thousand years later, humans and Demi-humans live their lives in peace as they ushered the world into technological era.

When a human is born, they may acquire a divine or cryptid "essence" of a late being that bestows powers to the human. These people are known as "Vessels" and they consists 2/3 of the entire population while the remaining are called "Husks".
Icarus Vermillion is born a minor noble in the gallant country of Vallia. His brash mother is known to be one of the strongest Vessels in the country and he is expected to follow her footsteps.
