"Let's strike a deal," said the devil. "What would you ask, in return for your soul, mortal?"

At the sight of the otherwordly creature, some primeval fear tried to grip my heart. But I chased it away. I was a mortal, but it wasn't immortal either.

I locked eyes with the infernal creature.

"I want *your* soul," I replied calmly.

Why? Because that was the only thing I wanted from it. That's why I have been searching for it for almost 30 years.
