In the beginning of the school year, Serenity Luope and Adrian Weila were assigned to the same dorm room. Shocked at first, Serenity starts being vigilant towards him. Unexpectedly, Adrian falls first.

siya looked at ayan who is going to follow senior  Wang As mr bai has expected  it he looked at siya " don't worry the boys dorm is next to girls dorm they don't go out of the campus"
siya looked up to say " thank you " sir.
bai:" no need to thank you it's my duty as the first years lecturer  n we do have a girl from India In last batch  she is good in her studies as well so you can stay with her in her room"
siya was so happy that there was a girl from her place and eagerly  waited  to  meet her .

mr bai took her to girls dorm  and asked warden to show her room as it's late night warden asked her to stay in her room so she can arrange her room with the senior girl.

siya said thanks to Mr bai before he left and get freshened and hit the bed.

some where in the city Li Jun had a great time with his friends and partied until late night when he returned  to his room . he just laid down on his bed and thought about today's events the girl from the restaurant  he just liked her smile and want to feel her again any how he would meet her in college and let's see what will happen  then  and  it would be fun to tease her by thinking it he smiled to himself  if siya has seen that smile she would have fell for him then and there.
on next day siya arranged her luggage in her room she met her roommate  who is an Indian  
" hi I'm siya I'm your junior it's nice to meet  you  "
priya " hi siya welcome I'm priya don't be so shy n be friendly with me , and call me by my name priya "
siya was so happy that she had a nice friend  and she can share her thoughts with  her  and  ask  her  questions about  what she don't understand  from her.
priya " siya if you need anything for time being you can use mine  and I see you didn't have  any  warm clothes which place are from in India?"
siya " I'm  from Chennai  n you priya?"
priya " oh I'm from Mumbai  ? so you don't know  hindi?"
siya " yes I do know  hindi but I'm  not fluent in it?"
priya " don't worry I will  teach you properly  before going back"
siya" ok priya will you take me near store to find  warm clothes today evening?"
priya " ya sure I'm free  anyhow let's meet after classes"
ok I will wait for you here ok
then they both  went to  their respective  classes.

Malapit na naman magpasukan, marami na namang bagong estudyante ang papasok sa dormitory na tinutuluyan ko. Kung praktikal ang hanap mo ay talagang ang Co-Educational Dormitory ng university ang pupuntahan mo. Marming estudyante na ang tumingin nito na nakikita ko 'nung nakaraan. Alam ko na marami na sila dahil dito halos dito na ako tumira simula ng mag-college ako.

Linggo ngayon at sa Wednesday na ang pasukan kaya marami nang mga students ang nagbabalik at nagpupunta na nang dorm para maglagay ng kanilang mga gamit. Hindi ko maintindihan kung bakit palaging Wednesday ang simula ng classes sa university namin. 

Don't ask me, I don't understand too.
Nasa terrace ako ng men's building kaya nakikita ko sa baba ang mga abalang mga bagong dating na estudyante. May mga masasayang nagkukuwentuhan at mga mukhang nawawala pa. Ganitong-ganito din ako 'nung first year pa lang ako. Napatigil ako sa pagrereminisce ng isang pick-up ang huminto sa baba. Bumaba ang isang payat na bata, magulang niya siguro ang kasama. Nakasuot siya ng jogging pants na may pangalan ng isang state college sa Ilocos Sur at nakasuot ng gray hoodie. Malamig ba? 

Natatakang tanong ko sa sarili. Tinawag na ako ni Justin, kaklase ko at roommate ko dito sa dorm na naging kaibigan ko na rin.

"Dre, tara miki tayo." Sabi niya.

Tumango na lang ako at naglakad na pababa. Paglabas namin ng building ay nakita ko ang bata na hinihintay ang magulang niyang nakikipag-usap sa guard ng dormitory. Lalabas na sana ako pero nakita ako nang guard at sinita dahil hindi ako nagsulat sa logbook. Napakamot na lang ako sa ulo. Nakatitig na 'yung bata sa akin.

"Laxamana, logbook." Turo ng guard "Kung ganyan ang makikita ng mga bago sa inyo baka ganyan din gagawin kapag nagsimula ang pasukan." Panenermon ne'to sa akin.

Nagsulat na lang ako. Inaasar pa ako ni Justin dahil bad shot na naman ako sa guard ng dorm. Nakita kong nakatingin pa rin 'yung bata sa akin. Tinitigan ko na rin siya. Morena siya, hanggang balikat ang straight niyang buhok, medyo makapal ang kilay ne'to na mukhang never been touched, medyo matangos ang ilong at full ang kanyang labi. Tinawag na siya ng magulang niya at sumunod na rin siya. 

Nagsimula na ang pasukan palagi ko siyang nakikita, nakakasalubong. Minsan nakakasabay ko pang siyang lumabas sa dorm at sa tricycle. Napag-alaman kong taga-College of Business, Economics and Accountancy siya dahil suot niyang uniform. Pansin kong tahimik alng siya palagi, nakikisali lang sa kulitan sa dalawa niyang kasama kapag siguro trip niya. Maingay 'yung maliit na palagi niyang kasama kaya lagi silang napapansin dahil kahit tahimik sila 'nung isa pa nilang kasama, iyon namang lakas ng boses at ingay ng kasama nila.

Nagkaroon ng meeting sa lahat ng resident ng dormitory. Lahat ay required umattend para sa briefing. Okay lang naman na ma-late doon kasi simula first year lagi naman nangyayari 'yun. Halos lahat naroon na, nagroroll call na ang dormitory manager per room ng napansin kong kadadating lang 'nung bata at ang mga lagi niyang kasama. Sakto namang roon na nila ang tinawag kaya nagtaas din sila ng kamay kasama rin 'yung isang tahimik. Taga-Engineering halos lahat ng mga ka-room niya kaya naisapan kong mas madali ko lang malalaman ang pangalan niya. Nagulat ako sa inisip ko, bat ko naman tatanungin ang pangalan niya? Lahat kami ay required magpakilala.

"Hello everyone, I am Reanne Joyce Somera. Ilocos Sur." Tipid niyang pakilala.

Napangiti ako dahil nahihiya pa siya, masasanay din sila sa dorm na'to.  Lumipas ang mga buwan, palagi ko pa rin siyang nakikita mas nagiging comfortable na din siya tignan. Nakikita ko na hindi na lang 'yung dalawa ang nagiging kasama niya kapag lumalabas or ano man. Nakikipagsabayan na rin siya sa kaingayan 'nung maliit. Naging hobby ko na yata ang panoorin siya kapag may pagkakataon. 

"Kinakabahan ako, bakit ba nila tayo sinasabak dito e wala naman tayong statistics na subject." 
Napalingon ako nang narinig ang nagsalita dahil familiar ito. Nagpatuloy pa siya sa pagra-rant sa mga kasama niya. Nakapila sila sa mga nagpapalista para sa mga sasali sa quiz.

"Nakakahiyang sumabak ng walang review. Hindi madali ang statistics e." 

"Kayo natin 'to. Nandyan ka naman e. Laboratorian ka nga sa inyo." Pagkomento nung isa pa niyang kasama.

Hindi ko na natiis kaya lumapit na ako sa kanila. Sasali din kami sa contest na sasalihan nila. Statistic Quiz 'yun.

"Here, you can review bukas pa naman 'yung quiz show."

"Huh?" Tumingin pa siya sa mga kasama niya kung sino ang kinakausap ko sa kanila. Nagkibit balikat ang dalawang kasama niya.

"I'm talking to you, Reanne." Sabi ko

Nagulat siya na parang iniisip niya kung saan niya ako nakita. Tokneneng! Hindi niya ako kilala. Palagi kaming nagkakasalubong sa dorm. Nagpapapansin pa ako minsan kapag nagsasabay kami sa guard house or sa parking area ng mga tricycle. Wtf!

"Dorm." Tipid na sinabi ko na lang.

"Ah yes. Ikaw 'yung friend ng pinsan nila ate Chiena, diba kuya? Sabi niya. Wow kuya-zoned agad mga erp. Galing.

"So, we can borrow your reviewer po?" tanong niya ulit sa akin.

"Sure, balik mo na lang sa dorm. Room 106." Sabi ko na lang.

"Yay! Thank you kuya. Ipapa-photocopy na lang namin. Pwede ba?"

"Sure. See you sa dorm." Ngaumiti ako.
She smiled back. She fucking smiled back. Alam ko na sa sarili ko na crush ko siya simula 'nung nakita ko siyang nakahoodie kahit sobrang init naman ng panahon ng dumating siya sa dorm. I rarely had a crush but if I did, iba!

"Sir, room 206 daw po. I don't know his name e. Basta 'yung friend 'nung cousin nila ate Chiena. Civil Engineering din yata." 

Nasa may tapat na ako ng store sa dorm nang makita ko si Reanne na nakikipag-usap sa guard na hawak 'yung reviewer na pinahiram ko sa kanya.

"Basta matangkad po siya tapos medyo singkit 'yung mata niya. Medyo curly din yung buhok." Sabi niya ulit sa guard. 

Natatawa ako hirap na hirap niya akong i-describe. Pwede naman niya sabihin na yung gwapo sa room 206, ako lang naman 'yun. Naghintay pa ako ng ilang minuto para panoorin siya pero nang makita niya lumabas si Justin ay tinuro niya.

"Kuya diba ikaw 'yung friend 'nung matangkad na medyo may curly hair. Room 206 daw e. From 206 ka ba?" Nagulat si Justin nang nakita niya ang hawak ni Reanne. Kailan ko nang magpakita, epal pa naman si Justin.

"Hoy Laxamana, ikaw yata hanap." Nang makita niya akong nasa logbook area na. 

"Magpakilala ka na kasi para madali ka na niyang hanapin." Makahulugan sinabi pa niya sa akin bago mag-logbook para umalis.

Lumapit naman si Reanne sa akin at binigay yung reviewer. Nahihiya pa siyang iabot 'yung sa akin.

"Uh! Thank you kuya ha. We owe you big time."Nakangiting sabi niya. Hulog na ang koya niyo sa ngiti niya palang.

"You can pay me!" Nakangiti ring sinabi ko sa kanya.

"Ha? Hindi ako mayaman pero I'll see if kasya sa allowance ko." Natatarantang sagot niya.
Tumawa ako at pinigilang ang sarili na pisilin ang pisngi niya. Sobrang cute niya. Kainis.

"Hindi pera." 

"Ha?"

"Your number."

"Bakit?" Gulat pa rin niyang tanong

"Laxamana, bata 'yan!" Natatawang tapik sa akin ni Ron. Isa ring resident sa dormitory.
Tumawa lang ako at humarap ulit kay Reanne.

"Number mo. Cellphone number." Ulit ko at klinaro pa ang sasabihin.

"May ballpen at paper ka po dyan. I'll just write."

"No need. Here." Binigay ko na sa kanya ang phone ko. 

She type her digits there. Pagkabigay niya tinawagan ko agad ang number niya at tumunog ang  hawak niyang phone.

"Save my number. It's Nigel Paul Laxamana pero pwede rin Love na lang." tawa ko at pumasok na sa men's building.

She was the dream but how can I reach her when she don't want to be fulfilled.

"What's this?" A man stopped walking, having just left an ATM, and looked down at an eye-catching black card, with a silver globe, laying on the pavement. 

"There's no name, that's odd…" He rotated the card around his fingers trying to find some sort of identifier anywhere. Nothing initially seemed special about the card: the material was a cheap plastic, the chip was undamaged, and the numbers were printed onto the front. The strangeness lied with the card had no name and no expiration date. If it didn't have an interesting appearance Ferro would have simply tossed it in the trash. He instead took out a pen to sign the back before he tucked it into his pocket.


"I'M LATE!" With the same clothes on from yesterday, Ferro jumped out of his bed and dashed out of his dorm. 

"Ferro slow down!" A male student shouted in return from Ferro running right by him in the stairwell.

"I can't, class started 5 minutes ago! Dr. Leeds, is going to murder me!" He called back not daring to slow down. The fifth of a mile run from his dorm to the lecture hall was done in record time of just shy of a minute. He slowly snuck in back and found a seat in the back row heavily panting and fell into his place. 

He thought he had escaped punishment, "Ferro could explain, can you explain how the solve the equation?"

"One moment." He was stilling catching his breath.

"You would use the power rule changing the 3x^3 + 4x^2 to 9x^2 + 8x. If you were to say the rule without numbers it would be…" He went into further detail than needed to answer the question.

"Kiss ass." The girl beside him commented with a slight laugh after he sat back down.

"Better than being murdered for being late." He replied a similar laugh escaping him as well.

"How many times is that now?"

"6" 

"We've only had this class for 6 days!" They were whispering back and forth but the shock was greatly evident in her voice.

"Oh, and how many time have you been late then?" A smirk was clearly shown on his face ready to rebuke her.

"…5…" She whispered even quieter.

"What was that?" His smirk grew wider.

"5…"

"Oh, and who was making snarky comments about my lateness?"

"Class is going on, you should be paying attention."

"Whatever you say, Jacklyn."

When the class came to an end Ferro and Jacklyn, engaged in idle conversation, leisurely walked out. Ferro had taken notice of the time and suggested grabbing lunch before their next class. 

"Where's my swipe…" Rummaging through his pockets he found he was missing both his college swipe and room key.

"Did you forget your card in your dorm?" It wasn't obvious but there was little chance she wasn't stifling a laugh.

"Highly likely." He turned his pockets inside out to find no swipe, but the black card rolled out. Picking it up he found it be different from yesterday. The name now printed on the card, was his own the same cursive writing he had done for the back of the card. 

"That's a cool card. Where'd you get it?" Jacklyn peered over his shoulder as he reexamined the card.

"Found it on the street following my trip to the ATM." 

"It had your name on it though."

"Wrote it on myself great penmanship, right?" He casually bragged trying to change the topic. The two then drifted apart as Jacklyn went to the café to eat lunch while Ferro went to the campus ATM to see the card.

When he inserted the card he was unsurprised to see it ask for a 4-digit pin. 

"1 in every 10 people use 1234."

"Welcome, you must be the new intern." A deep masculine echoed from the ATM. Ferro was perplexed as he heard the voice but no options appeared on the screen. The screen was completely black with a rotating silver globe much like the card. The silver globe was attached to a flawless white rod making out a simple yet excellent scepter. 

"That's a cool trick, whose running this?" Ferro called a bright smile across his face. 

"This isn't some trick."

"Oh, yea of course. What do you want then?" Ferro was unwilling to believe the voice, but when he tried to remove the card he found himself unable. His initial thought was whoever is behind this was trying to get bank account info.

"It doesn't matter if you believe me or not but by inserting the Black Card you became my intern."

"Okay and being your intern entails what? Getting your coffee? Doing your reports? Recording lectures?"

"Nothing like that. The company will be giving the intern, you, 1,500 dollars to which the intern has to spend by the week's end."

"Sounds cool, where will the 1,500 be deposited? You're going to such an extent for this con might as well entertain you."

"You think this 1,500 will come without rules?" To which Ferro shook his head no.

"Rule 1: If the intern doesn't spend the stiffen, he will receive a punished believed to be equal to the remaining amount."

"This is getting a bit too elaborate…"

"Seems like you're not a complete idiot, shocker. Others fainted when they heard my voice so I guess you are doing better than them."

"Oh, so I'm not the first?"

"There are other rules but they aren't relevant to you. The money is in your PayPal."

"Sounds good, bye!" Ferro proceeded to take the card out of the ATM before he checked his PayPal through his phone. He was surprised to find there was 1,500 sitting there. He was proud and made his way to the dining store to get food now that he could pay. This person was so rich to hand out 1,500 he might as well spend it. Also, he was never a person to take unnecessary risks. Better to spend and not be punished than to not and be hurt.

Walking through the dining store he held nothing back and bought foods he wouldn't even be eating anytime soon. Looking back at his PayPal amount it was down almost fifty dollars. He had also learned that by using the card it took directly from his PayPal. He opened a spreadsheet on his phone and wrote down his normal expenses to get an idea of how much extra he would be spending. He found spending a thousand wouldn't be a challenge the last 500 was bugging him though. His first thought was upgrading the appliances in his room. He was happy to see a fridge for 469. He made the decision that after classes he would drive over and pick it up.

Even as Ferro sat through the accounting class he was completely preoccupied with what the best way to spend the money. The thousand he initially did was later seen to be too high so he lowered it by 400 and looked for a new suit. Google was his best friend as he flipped through some clothes stores browsing suits around 400. After this, he would see how much was left over and would do some math.

He was broken away from the musing when the professor dismissed class. Ferro was in no rush so he made his way out and to the dorm hall waiting for someone to come by. This was the first time Ferro regretted going to a small college, it took a solid five minutes for someone to leave or go in the dorm hall. He made his way down the basement and to his room thankful he never locked his room. He didn't see his roommate's things there so he knew he was still out with his girlfriend.

Ferro grabbed his keys and wallet before directly making his way out and to the car lot.

A father used to tell his kids, following his divorce, “If I had a million dollars our problems would be solved.” 

Though when money falls in your lap it is never without rules. His predecessors found themselves lost to greed. Would he be any different? Isn’t it the fate of all humans?

Don’t try and say you’re unique in that you won’t be enchanted by the seduction of money. Some men thought the same before they heard the welcoming voice of the entity dubbed -- Specter. 

Of the more than 100 billion people that have ever walked the earth would you believe every one of them is unique? That not a single of them would be the same? That’s hysterical, maybe you are unique in your own way from your own past self, but to say every person is different is ignorant.

"So..? What do you have to say?" 

Li Ming sat across from a very stern looking Counselor Watanabe after classes had ended that day. As much as Li Ming had prepared himself for this moment, he was still extremely tense. 

The Haha brothers, Hatori and Hanzo, had started to brag about how they won their first battle royale match last night. Somewhere in that conversation, it was revealed that they had been carried to the victory by a professional player. Not wanting to miss out on giving out juicy details to gossip, Kaori had gone ahead and thrown in the details that they had defeated the Tokyo Boars. 

During lunch, they started showing off the replay of the match to prove their legitimacy. To everyone's surprise, they weren't kidding. Ken's party had been able to defeat the entire team of the Tokyo Boars in their run to take the victory in the battle royale match.

As with all gossipers, it didn't take much time for 'The Dawn' to be revealed to be Li Ming. Despite the many doubters, it was confirmed when they started looking up articles on 'The Dawn' and saw the results of the 'Osaka Phoenixes' who had recruited a graduating high schooler.

From the many pictures in the articles, it was easy to spot Li Ming during his interview at the tryouts in LA. During the entire lunch period, everyone that knew the news began spreading the information that there was a new pro player in there school. As soon as Counselor Watanabe caught wind of the identity of the pro player, it was only a matter of time for Li Ming to be called into her office after the school day was over.

He had expected as much to happen, but he didn't expect it to occur so soon. Perhaps it was too audacious of him to bring the team outfit into a casual match with his friends. Li Ming had been so focused on his improvement as a player he had neglected the public relations matters. 

Now that he had been dragged into the counselor's room to explain himself, Li Ming had to find a way to explain himself. And fast.

"Well," he started, "I just signed a contract with the Osaka Phoenixes to be their starting Frontliner."

"What about school?"

"I don't have to start team practice or living with the team until the I've graduated. The practice sessions that have been assigned to me only take less than 5 hours a day to complete. I'll be able to graduate just fine, since I won't need to work at that convenience store anymore."

"You aren't working at the convenience store anymore?" She asked worriedly, "Is the team paying you enough?"

"Of course!" Li Ming took this opportunity to add a little leverage for his defense, "In fact, I will be receiving about 19178.07 US dollars as of today."

"That might be enough for you to get by, but you were definitely making more at the convenience store, right? Wasn't the yearly salary about 22 thousand US dollars when you were working there as their overnight position?"

"Oh no, today's payment from the team will only be for this week. I'll get the same payment ever week. My annual salary is-"

"ONE MILLION DOLLARS?" Counselor Watanabe obviously did the calculations faster than Li Ming could finish his sentence.

"Yeah," Li Ming said shyly, "It's my starting salary for just staying on their roster. I'll get bonuses if we win, and the contract duration is 3 years, with a renewal evaluation every year."

"That's..." 

Honestly speaking, Counselor Watanabe was taken aback by this sudden revelation. She had a general idea on the professional Esports player scene, after all, she had been a counselor for many years. Ever since Leo Corporation started the Esport scene, there had been more and more students writing that they wanted to become pro players later on in life.

Despite the original stigma that video games carried for her, she was still very open to many different career paths. However, she still remained doubtful of the situation. To be giving one million US Dollars every year, to a student that hadn't even graduated yet, this was still an outlandish situation for her to rationalize.

"You said you would be living with the team," she asked, "Does this mean that you'll have to rent a dorm or apartment from them then?"

"Actually, I'll be living in their dorm without having to rent it. Food and utilities are included in my contract as well, along with some travel accommodations too."

Counselor Watanabe's eyebrows creased together as she rubbed her temples. This was quite a bit for her to take in. Not only was he being paid quite the hefty sum, but he was getting a free place to live, and free food as well!"

"Could you elaborate more on your living situation now compared to what it will be like living with the team?"

"Well, as a player on the main roster, I will have my own dorm room. The dorm room is actually a 1LDK, and is about 250 meters squared (~800 sq/ft) in size. The dorm allows pets and such," Li Ming recounted the details of his contract, "Despite having my own kitchen, I can order food from the team's cafeteria and have it brought up to me, or I can go down to the team's lounge to eat with the team."

"...That's definitely better than your current place..."

Now with his pride on the rise, Li Ming continued his recounting of his contract. "I can also do Live Streaming, where I show off whatever I play daily, and viewers that watch me can be monetized. I also get sponsorships and earn money through affiliate marketing as well.. As for travel accommodations, any travel for competition purposes will be fully paid for and managed by the team, so nothing will have to come out of my own pocket!"

Faced with such benefits, Counselor Watanabe couldn't really ask Li Ming to change his mind. If this youth played his cards right, the three million dollars would be enough to carry him through his early life, and maybe even into his midlife stage.

"But what will you do when your contract ends? How will you find a job then?"

"They have that covered too! There's a company retirement plan, as well as there being many chances for me to become part of the staff instead of a player. If I'm good at being a leader, I could transition to being a coach. If I'm good at thinking and breaking down information, I could become an analyst. Even if all I have left is my skills in the game, I could always become a recruiter or a scout."

This time, Counselor Watanabe truly could not find any faults in his defense. Compared to her offer of getting Li Ming through Tokyo University's back door, this path was definitely more stable! Even if he went to college, he would still have to manage all of the housing and food situations. He would still be responsible for finding a job all on his own, and there was no guarantee that he could even stay in school if he had to work part time or even full time to cover his expenses.

After a long period of thinking, Counselor Watanabe put her hands down. She took a look at Li Ming's student file. 

"Are you sure you want to be a pro player?" She asked as she looked back up, "Are you really sure?"

"Yes, for now at least." Li Ming answered confidently, "I'm certain that I want to be there."

"What makes you want to be there that badly?"

*Bzzzzz* *Bzzzzz*

Li Ming received a text. Quickly glancing at his phone, Li Ming saw that Chie had texted him to go online to compare each other's character's team outfits.

"Sorry, something came up." Li Ming said as he hurriedly got up and pushed his chair back in, "I'll be heading back first."

'Oh? This is rare.' Counselor Watanabe sensed a different expression on Li Ming as he rushed to leave. 'Is it a girl?'

"Answer my question first." She persuaded him, "What makes you want to be a pro player that badly?"

But Li Ming, who was already absent minded and halfway through the door, haphazardly threw out an answer.

Confused, Counselor Watanabe could only watch his hurried running through the halls.

After receiving news that it would be unlikely for him to move on to college, he decides to run away from home. He uses his remaining savings from his part time job to fly to the California in the United States to see his favorite team compete in the one thing he actually enjoyed: Legends Rise.

Yu Wuhan was going to start work from today onwards after she found two part time jobs when she was buying her clothes. One part time job was during the evening till night in a cafe which was near the school. Another was a cashier at a convenience store from midnight till morning. This location was a little farther than her school but she didn't care because she was getting good money for both the jobs. But if any of the students knows what Yu Wuhan was doing, they would be shocked because one needs time to study and sleep. If you waste your time by doing part time jobs, when will you study and sleep. But Yu Wuhan didn't care about this because she already knows the materials  and she had passed college too, so she would sleep during classes, because her mother already warned to not cause trouble and she will not cause trouble by sleeping. 

On her way home, to save time, Yu Wuhan had brought dinner along with her. When Yu Wuhan returned, there was someone there in her dorm room. Yu Wuhan remembered that she was called    Lang Xue and she was a athlete. Before Yu Wuhan could do anything, Lang Xue pounced on Yu Wuhan while saying.

"Hey Wuhan, I didn't know that you will come even earlier than me."

Yu Wuhan was startled by that hug. Then she tried her best to act like the "real" Yu Wuhan. Yu Wuhan smiled which was really hard for the current her to do but she tried her best. The current her hated the previous body owner because first she always before talking to anyone. The current yu Wuhan found this aspect really annoying. But Lang Xue didn't find anything wrong. Yu Wuhan then continued

"Hey Xue, why are you here so early?"

"Coach said that practice starts from Monday therefore I came earlier. What about you?"

"Me…I just came here because I was getting bored at home."

Lang Xue noticed that Yu Wuhan brought some things with her. Therefore she snatched the things from Yu Wuhan before she could say a thing. Usually when Yu Wuhan buys something it would be someone new and costly but when she saw the the contents of the packet, she was startled. Lang Xue started to ask a series of questions.

"Wuhan, why did you buy this kind of clothes? And why did you bring take-out sandwich as food and a beer? It is not like you because you loathe this kind of food and drinks because its not good for one's health. Did something happen to you? If so I can help you out." 

Yu Wuhan was speechless. Yu Wuhan thought why was this girl overreacting, its only some plain clothes, food and beer. But in the eyes of Long Xue, it was already a huge change. Yu Wuhan without knowing this answered her questions.

"Xue, I brought this kind of clothes because all my clothes are to eye catching, therefore I thought that its time to buy normal clothes. As for the food and drinks, well, I didn't want to eat outside so I brought it here."

"Wuhan, I get it. Since you are not going out, I will also stay here and eat dinner with you. I will take  a sandwich from you because you have two packs. I will return the money later."

"Ok, I don't mind."

Yu Wuhan sighed in relief and thought that this friend is understanding but little did she know that  her seemingly "understanding" friend became more suspicious of her when she answered her questions. This was because according to Lang Xue, what Yu Wuhan was doing was totally opposite of the Yu Wuhan. 

When Lang Xue looked more attentively towards Yu Wuhan, she noticed that she was not wearing makeup. Lang Xue internally thought that it was impossible for her to not wear makeup, something is definitely wrong and I will find it out.

After a while, when it was time to sleep, Lang Xue saw Yu Wuhan change into the clothes she had just brought today. Lang Xue thought that were she was going so late at night. It shouldn't be a party because given that dress there's no way one would go to a party. Therefore she got confused and asked Yu Wuhan.

"Wuhan, were are you heading so late at night?"

"Ah…well I have some work to do. Will tell you when we meet the next time."

After saying this Yu Wuhan took a bag then wore a cap and left the dorm. Lang Xue was still murmuring what Yu Wuhan said. Something within those words were seriously bothering her. Then she found out that the the word "next time" was bothering her. Lang Xue thought why next time, isn't she just going out for some while before returning to sleep. But Lang XUe was terribly mistaken and later she will understand what those words meant.

Yu Wuhan reached the convenience store within thirty minutes. Then she put on on an uniform and started to work. It had to be said that during night time the convenience store was almost running empty with only a few customers. But this job brought a lot of money so she didn't care.
Yu Wuhan left the store when it was six in the morning.

Then Yu Wuhan thought that now is a good time to see some friends of mine. Therefore she headed towards the subway.

Will Liu Yan, who got a second chance to live, be able to clear her family debts or drown while clearing it off.

Would Liu Yan get support from anyone around her.

Will Lui Yan be able to live a regular life.

The next day, Emma and Wyatt take Jackson with them to Savvy Threads. Jackson didn't really want to go, but Emma insisted that he should at least try doing anything other than laying in bed. When they get there, Emma greets Matilda and Emily. "Go on" Emma says to Jackson, "at least be nice to Emily".
  Jackson sighs and says "What's up, Emily?".
  Emily responds by nervously waving a hand in the air while wearing a fake smile. "Uh... hey?" Emily says. 
  "Somehow, that's exactly the response I expected" Jackson says. 
  "Look, Jackson" Emily says, "it's not that I hate you or anything... but I also don't recall us particularly getting along super well. Like, we haven't really spoken all that much to each other".
  "Oh thank god" Jackson says. "The feeling is mutual". Jackson then looks at Emma and asks "Can I go now?".
  "No" Emma says, "try actually getting along with people...".
  Jackson groans and then says "Fine! I don't even know what to talk about here".
  "Sucks that you and Aeris... broke up" Emily says, trying to find something to talk about. There was a long awkward silence, then Emily says "This is awkward".
  "Yeah, I'm waiting outside of the store now..." Jackson says as he points his thumb at the door. 
  "... Anyways" Wyatt says, "any job opening for here, Matilda?".
  "Oh, yes" Matilda says. "We'll have to schedule a time for you to talk to Dylan about the job, that way he can interview you and stuff. If he decides you can take the job, you can work as my assistant".
  "Hopefully it works out then" Emma says. 
  "It'll be cool and all having a familiar face to work with" Emily says, "but I also imagine it'll start being a little awkward staying here".
  "Why's that?" Emma asks. 
  "I dunno" Emily says. "I don't really think I'd have much to talk about. So if you do get the job here, don't be surprised if it's constantly quiet".
  "Anyways" Matilda says, "Dylan should be here tomorrow morning before noon. If you want to stop by to talk with him then, you're free to come".
  "Tomorrow morning, got it!" Wyatt says. 
  As the two of them leave, Emma waves at Matilda and Emily. "Thanks again, Matilda!" Emma says. "And see you later, Emily!".
  "Yeah" Emily says, "take care".
  "I'm glad to see you two are getting along" Matilda says to Emily. 

  "Can we go back finally?" Jackson asks as the two of them leave the store.
  "Yes, we can go back" Wyatt says. 
  "Good" Jackson replies. "It's cold out here".
  "You could've stayed inside, you know?" Emma asks.
  "Yeah, but that involves talking to people" Jackson says. After the three of them get back to the dorm, Jackson asks "So, how do you plan on keeping Emma hidden in the dorm for so long?".
  Wyatt shrugs and says "It's been working so far".
  "Well..." Jackson says, "I know she doesn't have a place to return to, so make sure you don't let anybody else know that we're keeping Emma here. If the school finds out, they'll probably be furious". Immediately after that, a loud knock is heard on the door of the dorm. "Do... you usually get visitors?" Jackson asks. 
  "N-no... not really" Wyatt says. Wyatt stands up to answer the door, but the door suddenly swings open. 
  "Wyatt!" Darren says as he opens the door. Darren then notices Jackson and Wyatt sitting in a room with Emma. "Oh, I'm sorry..." Darren says as he awkwardly closes the door. 
  "No, wait!" Wyatt says, "it's not what you think! I can explain!".
  "Yes, please do explain" Jackson says. "Knowing you, it won't be a very good explanation".
  Darren opens the door again, then walks inside the room. "What's going on?".
  "Well..." Wyatt says, "Emma doesn't have a place to stay, so I'm keeping her here".
  "Uh-huh..." Darren says. "You know this is the boy's dorm, right?".
  "Y-Yeah" Wyatt says. 
  "So... is she your girlfriend?" Darren asks. 
  "Y-Yeah..." Wyatt says. 
  "And there it is" Jackson says, "the perfect explanation for a misunderstanding!".
  "So that's why you're keeping her here!" Darren says. 
  "Wait, no! I-" Wyatt says. 
  "Look, I get it" Darren says. "I won't tell a soul".
  "I don't think you are getting it..." Wyatt says in frustration. "So how'd you know which dorm is mine?".
  "Oh, that's easy!" Darren says. "I knocked on every door and bursted into everyone's room shouting your name like an idiot!".
  "... Really?" Wyatt asks. 
  "No..." Darren says. "I asked Ms. Weber to look up your name of the dorm list... did you honestly think I'd do that?".
  "Pfft- I like this guy!" Jackson says. 
  "Ayyy!" Darren says as he makes a finger gun gesture at Jackson. "So, you are?".
  "Jackson Lonny" Jackson says. "I'm in the same class as Wyatt... and in the club too, I guess".
  "Oh yeah, aren't you that laibah kid everyone was talking about?" Darren asks. 
  "Yep" Jackson says. 
  "Oh... so how many of us here are laibah?" Darren asks. 
  "In this room?" Wyatt asks. "I'm the only human here at the moment...".
  "Oh, so you're a laibah too?" Darren asks as he looks at Emma. 
  "Y-Yeah..." Emma says. "I believe I already introduced myself to you before. I'm Emma Frey".
  "Darren Forray" Darren says as he forces Emma to shake his hand.
  "What'd you wanna come here to talk about?" Wyatt asks. 
  "Right" Darren says, "so around this time, people in high school and stuff usually come to colleges like these to see what their possible future college looks like. Earlier today, I ran into a certain someone who also wanted to see you".
  "Me?" Wyatt asks.
  "I told him to wait by the gate and I'll bring you to him" Darren says, "but seeing as to how it'll be dangerous to keep going in and out with your girlfriend over there, I'll try bringing him to you".
  "Wait, who is it?" Wyatt asks. However, Darren leaves without answering. After a long silence, Darren comes back with a rather big surprise. "K-Kemal!?" Wyatt asks. "What are you doing here!?".
  "Kemal?" Jackson asks. 
  "So this is your brother?" Emma asks. 
  "Brother!?" Jackson asks. "Holy hopping hell, there's two of them!?".
  "What's up, Wyatt?" Kemal asks. 
  "H-how'd you get down here?" Wyatt asks. "Is mom okay? What are you doing all the way out here?".
  "Whoa, slow down there" Kemal says. "Let's see if I can answer these questions first. Umm... I took the city bus, mom is fine, and I'm here to check out what kinda school you go to".
  "So mom and dad are doing fine then?" Wyatt asks. 
  "Well, dad is still a grumpy old man, but yeah" Kemal says. "In fact, they're both better than fine now. Dad got a promotion, mom got a raise and we're financially stable for the first time ever. In fact, they're doing so well that I'm finally able to leave my job and come to school".
  "W-What?" Wyatt asks. 
  "I'll be coming here next year" Kemal says. "I've gotta look out for my little brother, don't I?".
  "But you'll be a year lower than him..." Jackson says. "It'll be more like he's watching out for you".
  "Same difference" Kemal says. 
  "N-no... no it is not..." Jackson says. 
  Darren laughs and says "See? Isn't this nice? We've already got a group of friends ready for ya when you start coming to school, Kemal!".
  Kemal laughs and says "Yeah, I like the sassy one!".
  "Sassy?" Jackson asks. "SASSY!?".
  "This situation seems kind of awkward..." Emma says. 
  Kemal leans in close to Darren and asks "Who's the girl?".
  "That's Wyatt's girlfriend" Darren says with a snicker. 
  "What!?" Kemal panics. 
  "Uh..." Wyatt tries to think of something to say. 
  "She's a laibah too" Darren says. 
  "Uh..." Emma says, now feeling uncomfortable.
  "No way!" Kemal says. "So you're going to be my future sister in law!?". Kemal starts furiously shaking Emma's hand saying "I'm Kemal Bogan! Nice to meet you!".
  As Kemal wildly shakes Emma's hand, her arm seems to go limp as she nervously laughs. "I-I'm Emma Frey~" Emma says nervously. 
  "This. Is. Hilarious" Jackson says. 
  "Can you stop?" Wyatt asks. "You're making her nervous!".
  "Oh!" Kemal says as he comes to a sudden stop. "Sorry...".
  "I-it's f-fine..." Emma says. Emma then thinks about the words Kemal said, "Future sister in law" and laughs nervously again. 
  "This room is kinda cramped, ain't it?" Kemal asks.
  "Gee, I wonder why" Jackson says. "Couldn't be the fact that it was designed to only hold two people at a time, yet here we are with five people...".
  "Is there anyone else I should meet?" Kemal asks. 
  "Oh yeah!" Darren says. "Wyatt actually has a bunch of friends now!".
  "Really?" Kemal asks. 
  "I know, it's surprising isn't it?" Darren asks. "He was always so quiet and awkward when we were all just little kids!".
  "Can I meet them, Wyatt?" Kemal asks. 
  "No!" Wyatt says. "Please, no! You're already making things awkward enough! Just... slow down for a minute, will ya?".
  "Aw, are you embarrassed of your big brother?" Kemal asks. 
  "That's... one way to put it, yes" Wyatt says. 
  Emma starts giggling and Jackson says "I can't believe there's someone weirder than Wyatt... yet, here you are!".
  "Can we keep it down?" Wyatt asks. "We don't need someone calling any of the staff to our room and getting into trouble".
  "Yeah, especially since you're keeping a girl here" Darren says. 
  Kemal whistles and says "Didn't think you'd turn out to be such a rebel".
  "Rebel?" Wyatt asks. "I-I think you're getting the wrong idea, because-".
  "Hey, it's of no consequence to me" Kemal says. "You do you".
  "You do you... now that's a quote" Jackson says. 
  Wyatt take a sigh of relief and says "It's good to hear that mom and dad are doing fine though. At least I don't have to worry about trying to support them after college now".
  "Yeah" Kemal says. "Probably the most freedom we've ever had in our lives, to be honest".
  "Maybe I can actually look for other career opportunities now..." Wyatt says. 
  "You mean... like Matilda's suggestion of being a teacher?" Emma asks. 
  "Yeah" Wyatt says, "maybe I should look into that after all. I was worried about getting into a job that was too far from home, because I was sure mom and dad would need my help by the time I graduated".
  "Yeah" Kemal says, "but now that they're finally getting the support they need from their own jobs, we probably don't have to do that after all. In fact, mom is the one who paid for me to come see you. Which reminds me, she also wanted to me pass on a message to you".
  "A message?" Wyatt asks. 
  "She says good luck" Kemal says, "and that she wants you to stay and school and not worry about her or dad".
  "Can you pass on a message from me when you get back?" Wyatt asks. 
  "Like what?" Kemal asks. 
  "Tell then I said thanks" Wyatt says. 
  "Screw that sappy stuff!" Kemal says, "I'm telling them about your girlfriend! Bwa-ha ha ha ha!".
  "Wait!" Wyatt says, "please don't! Dad will-".
  "Dad won't do anything" Kemal says. "He may have his dumb irrational fears, but you know mom and dad worry most about us. If it's someone you can trust, I'm sure dad'll put his stupid fear aside".
  "Fear?" Emma asks.
  "Our dad doesn't exactly like laibah" Kemal says. "But I'm sure he'll make an exception for you. After all, Wyatt's never had a girlfriend before!". 
  Kemal starts laughing loudly and Wyatt says "Can you please stop making everything more awkward!?".
  "But seriously" Kemal says to Emma, "don't worry about what that old man would think. I won't tell him about you".
  "Thanks" Wyatt says. 
  "I'll make Wyatt do that himself!" Kemal says. 
  "You-" Wyatt says. 
  "But" Kemal interrupts, "I'm sure the old man would be fine with you. He'll put aside his prejudice since you're someone Wyatt is close to".
  "And if he doesn't?" Jackson asks. 
  "He'll have to" Kemal says. "Otherwise, our mother will beat him into submission until he does".
  "W-What is your mom like!?" Emma asks. 
  "She's pretty soft hearted, really" Kemal says.
  "D-does she hate laibah?" Emma asks. 
  "No" Kemal says. "You'd probably enjoy meeting her, actually".
  "M-meeting them!?" Emma asks. 
  "Uh-oh, you're making her nervous again" Darren says. 
  "I wish I had a video camera" Jackson says. "This is the funniest thing I've seen all week".
  "Can we maybe stop?" Wyatt asks. "Let's not worry about anyone meeting anybody's parents!".
  "I-I... don't think I'd mind meeting your parents some day" Emma says nervously. 
  "See?" Kemal says, "she's fine with it!".
  "You're an enabler, aren't you?" Jackson asks. 
  "So... what makes you think dad would change his mind for Emma?" Wyatt asks. 
  "Oh... right" Kemal says. "I never told dad about Darren being a laibah, but I did tell mom a long time ago. Turns out she told dad almost immediately and he's known about it all along. However, dad never really got angry. He did tell me that involving myself with too many laibah would drag me into trouble like it did with Darren, but all that trouble wasn't Darren's fault. He knows we get along with laibah well, and he doesn't hate it. He's just constantly worried that we're getting into fights".
  "And if he knew Wyatt was dating one?" Jackson asks. 
  "Yeah..." Kemal says, "I always thought he'd get so mad about us being friends with laibah, that he'd probably pop a vein. However, he's surprisingly okay with it. I'm sure as long as Wyatt stays out of trouble, he won't have any problems with accepting Emma".
  "See?" Darren says, "you're practically all set up then! There won't be any issues if you two get married!".
  "M-m-married!?" Emma panics. 
  "Pfft- HA HA HA HA HA!" Jackson laughs out loud. "Man, this is really helping me cheer up!".
  "Are you scared of marriage?" Kemal teases Emma. 
  "N-no! I-" Emma says. "I can... I mean- I'm fine if- ah, uh...".
  "I think you broke her..." Jackson says. 
  "Whoops..." Kemal says. "Were we not supposed to talk about that yet?".
  Wyatt sighs and says "You've pretty much already talked about everything I'd rather not bring up all at the same time...".
  "Well, better out than in, I always say" Kemal says. 
  "Pfft- HA HA HA HA HA!!" Jackson laughs even harder. "BETTER OUT THAN IN! ISN'T THAT SUPPOSED TO BE AN EXCUSE FOR A FART!?".
  "Is it?" Kemal asks. "I mean, honesty is important".
  "It's official" Jackson says as he slowly stops laughing, "you're idiots".
  Now Kemal makes a finger gun gesture at Jackson and says "That's pretty mean".
  "I like you guys" Jackson says. "You say some silly stuff, AND you embarrass both Emma and Wyatt. This is quite the show!".
  "Aw, that's nice" Darren says. "We get his approval!".
  "Doesn't seem like much of an approval" Kemal says, "but I'll take what I can get".
  "You guys are an absolute riot..." Jackson says.

  In a world shared between humans and laibah, there's a lot of turmoil between the two. The laibah are foxes that often take a human form, and they had previously had a long conflict with the humans. Humans have eventually accepted laibah as members of society, but they still have a lot of trouble blending in with the human society.

Not long after the doctors had told Kazuya their conclusion Sasuke thanked the, and sent them back to work. Kazuya continued to sit in the chair holding Akio who was pulling on a loose string on Kazuya's coat. Sasuke walked over to Kazuya and said, "Akio should be safe now, I'll give you a prescription for him, you must give it to him for a week." Kazuya looked at Sasuke and said,"Thank you." Sasuke replied " It's the least I can do for you, for you have always been a good friend and always helped me when I needed." 

Kazuya stood up with Akio in his arms and said,"Well then, now I must go to the store to get some supplies to care for Akio." Sasuke looked at Kazuya and Akio and said,"How about I drive you that way Akio doesn't have to be exposed to more harsh weather for an extended time." Kazuya looked down at Akio and then looked at Sasuke and nodded his head,"That would be great,shall we go now before it gets to late?" Sasuke said,"Yes, and while we are there if there is anything you need I can get it for you as well." Sasuke turned and started walking to the entrance door and Kazuya with Akio in his arms followed him.

When they reached the entrance Kazuya wrapped Akio up a little better to keep him from getting cold as soon as the went out. Once they stepped out the door they started walking to the car, as soon as they made it to the car Sasuke turned on the heat to keep Akio warmer. Kazuya looked at Sasuke and said,"I really do appreciate you doing this Sasuke." Sasuke replied,"Like I said earlier Kazuya it is the least I can do considering how much you've helped me. The both of them sat there for a few minutes, for they had nothing to say.

Once they reached the next red light they started talking again. They talked about their college days and how they never actually went to a college party despite their dorm building always having parties. They spoke of how much they thought they would actually succeed in their majors. Then Sasuke said,"You know come to think of it Kazuya I never even seen you be around a girl in university let alone date anyone." Kazuya looked at Sasuke and said,"It's not that I didn't like any of the girls there it's just I never had time to speak with any of the girls I was interested in."

"Between my classes and my family problems I never really thought it helping me any considering my family always had to pick and choose for me when it came to my significant other." Kazuya continued. Sasuke continued driving but still talked to Kazuya,"So your saying they sent you on blind dates and stuff like that?" "Yeah and I mean all the girls they set me up with were great, its just I never really felt that special connection with any of them so I turned them all down." Kazuya said. Sasuke was a little surprised that Kazuya's parents would do that because they always seemed so nice when he was around. "I never knew that about your parents." Sasuke said, Kazuya nodded and said,"There is a lot you don't know about my family Sasuke because I always made sure they never showed you that side of our family while you were around."

They pulled up to a red light and Sasuke came to a stop. Sasuke looked at Kazuya for a split second and said,"Why would you not want me to see that side of your family Kazuya?" Kazuya looked down at Akio and then back at Sasuke and said "The reason I never let you see it was because it was to cruel a scene for someone who thought we were a perfect family." Sasuke with his eyes on the road seen the light change to green and stated driving again. "That would make sense as to why I never seen any of you fight with each other." Sasuke stated, "Yeah." Kazuya said. 

Sasuke continued driving but the two of them had stopped speaking. They had just pulled into the store parking lot and Kazuya said,"I'm sorry Sasuke." Sasuke looked at Kazuya and said,"It's alright I understand why you did it." They both looked at each other and then Sasuke stepped out of the car first. Kazuya looked at Akio and made sure he was bundled well and then stepped out of the car as well. 

Then both Sasuke and Kazuya walked into the store and started shopping for supplies for Akio. While Sasuke went to get the baby formula, Kazuya went and got a diaper bag, along with the diapers, and baby powder. They both met back up in the baby clothes aisle and they both looked around to see what they could find that was warm that Akio could fit into. Then both Sasuke and Kazuya looked for a bib and something for Akio to teethe. Once they had found everything they had needed they checked out and headed towards Kazuya's house. 

Once they had reached Kazuya's house they got out of the car and headed in. Kazuya carried Akio and the formula in, while Sasuke got as much as he could to carry in the first trip. The both of them walked in and Kazuya went to the kitchen to get the baby formula ready so Akio could eat. "Just set all the stuff down i the living room while I get Akio's bottle ready." Kazuya said. Sasuke set  all the stuff he had just carried in and walked back out to get the rest of the stuff. 

By the time Sasuke had gotten all the stuff brought in Kazuya was sitting on the couch feeding Akio. Sasuke looked around and said,"I didn't know you lived in a small one room apartment." Kazuya looked up while still feeding Akio and said,"Yeah it heats well and when you live alone it has to much space even for one person." Sasuke looked round, you could see the kitchen, the one bedroom, and the bathroom all from the living room. "Okay so where do you do your laundry?" Sasuke asked looking around from where he was sitting.

"Although you can't see it from here, I have a washer and dryer in the bathroom although I don't have much to wash the dryer is definitely helpful." Kazuya said. Sasuke sat and thought for a moment,"So did your parents not give you any money to get you started right after college?"  Sasuke asked. Kazuya looked at Sasuke and said,"They gave me very little because I didn't do what they wanted, I imagine by now my younger brother has all the money they had saved up for the one who chose the life they wanted." Sasuke looked around and said,"Well that's not right of them, it is your right to choose your own path through life so don't be sad about it." Kazuya looked up at Sasuke and said,"I'm not sad, I actually feel rather blessed that I have a place to stay, a friend who cares, and a child that I can help push in the right direction, for a little while at least." 

Sasuke looked at Kazuya who had just finished feeding Akio, he was glad that Kazuya had a good view of his situation regardless of how bad it may seem to others. After Akio had ate Kazuya burped him and Akio started to fall asleep. As Kazuya rocked Akio to sleep, Kazuya asked Sasuke if he could started setting up the baby bed. Of course Sasuke agreed, once the bed was set up in the living room where Kazuya could keep an eye on Akio,  Kazuya put Akio in the bed. He then walked to the kitchen and asked Sasuke,"Do you want a drink, I've got water, soda and tea."

 Sasuke said politely,"I'll take some tea please." Kazuya got Sasuke's tea and his water then invited him into the kitchen. The both of them sat in the kitchen discussing the best ways to care for Akio. After a while they had finished talking and Sasuke said,"Well, I will leave first I better get home before it gets to dark." Kazuya looked over to check on Akio and said,"Alright not w that you know where I live don't be a stranger."

As Sasuke was putting his shoes back on Sasuke said,"Okay I won't." and waved as he walked out the door. Kazuya then stood up and walked out of the kitchen and into the living room. He sat there on the couch and watched Akio as he was sleeping soundly. Kazuya then thought to himself. He wondered how long he could take care of Akio before he had to be sent to the orphanage.

Kazuya then got a piece of paper and started calculating. He then called the two jobs that he had gotten and asked if he would be able to bring a baby to work with him, one of the jobs which was being a waiter allowed children and the other being a blue collar job did not. He thanked the person over the phone for letting him know on the waiters job that he could bring the child. Then he apologized for having to decline the blue collar job offer for not being able to bring Akio. Kazuya then called a nearby bakery and asked if they had a position open that also allowed him to bring Akio, they told him they had one greeter opening left that he could have the job after an interview.

He then asked if it was alright for him to bring Akio with him for the interview. They told him that it would be okay as long as he could make it by 11:30 AM. Kazuya agreed to the time and got all of Akio's stuff put up and ready to go for the next morning. Kazuya then continued calculating how long he had before he had to send Akio to the orphanage based on the salaries he would make from the two jobs.  Before he knew it was morning already and he only had four hours before he had to head out for the interview.

Akio, an ironic name for someone with such a terrible past. Akio, the illegitimate child of a millionaire grew up being an introvert and  detached from society, even with his family's high social standing. For Akio being the illegitimate child, the high standing family looked down upon him belittling him in every possible way they could.  Although there was one thing none of them knew about him, for he had a unique problem about himself that he intended to keep secret for eternity. Akio had several reasons for being a quiet and introverted child, but his main reasons was to keep others from dissing him, hurting him, and shaming him also upon other reasons. One day he met someone who would turn his world around completely.

Qin Guan went out of his dorm. He was planning on buying an EasyOwn phone number at the convenience store downstairs. Only when he got to the store did he realize what year it was. At that date in time, phone numbers were sold on consignment, not at such small stores.
To buy a phone number, he had to register at a China Mobile business hall. Qin Guan let out a sigh. 
Having been born with a silver spoon in his mouth, Liu Xiaoyang felt frustrated. How could he forget to buy a cellphone? It would make his life much more convenient.
Qin Guan called his parents from a public telephone and told them that everything was settled and there was nothing to worry about. He said he would sleep in his dorm that night and visit the hotel the next morning.
Qin Guan’s roommates had already decided where to have dinner before Qin Guan had finished his call. Diagonally across their university, there was a street where many roadside snack booths were located. It was a good place to have barbecue. They went to the street and found that the booths had just been set up. There were various kinds of food, including kebab, cold noodles, boiled pork giblets with baked wheaten paste, and beef noodles. The boys went up to a kebab booth and ordered 100 kebabs and five draft beers. Liu Xiaoyang was not allowed to have draft beer because he was still underage, so he did not have to bring his ID card. 
Liu Xiaoyang wanted to have some beer, but his protests were suppressed by his roommates. While they were waiting for their kebabs to be served, Ye Dong and Mu Lejiang took out two packs of cigars from their pockets and passed them to their other three roommates, ignoring Liu Xiaoyang. Feeling left out again, Liu Xiaoyang started to get pissed off. He yelled, “What about me? Why can’t I have one?” Ye Dong glanced at him scornfully and said, “Grow some pubes first.”
Qin Guan spat out his beer with a puff. “This one’s certainly got a personality! I like that!” Qin Guan and Wang Lei declined the cigars, but Li Jie took one.
Ye Dong took a deep drag on his cigar. He was suddenly touched out of nowhere and said, “You won’t believe it, but I was actually a poor student. I was very naughty in junior high school. I never studied hard and I was always getting into fights with others. All bad boys would smoke at the time. Later on, I was disqualified from high school. My dad took two bottles of wine to beg the help of one of his primary school classmates, who happened to be my high school principal. He hoped that I would get to go to high school, even if we had to pay extra money. When he got back home, I cried. F*ck! He had never begged anyone for help before, but he’d done that for me. At the time, I was thinking that I had to make something out of my life so my dad would never have to beg anyone’s help again.” Ye Dong took another drag and puffed out a smoking ring.
“When I was admitted into this university, my dad had tears in his eyes. Seeing him so happy, I felt that all my hard work in high school had finally paid off.”
The boys did not speak. Their hearts felt heavy. The owner served them their kebabs. Ye Dong pounded his hand on the table and said, “Let’s drop it and have dinner.” 
Leaving courtesy aside, each of the boys grabbed a handful of kebabs.
Qin Guan had a bite and found that they were truly yummy. Kebabs and roasted lamb’s kidneys were one of Beijing’s local specialties.
A whole lamb’s kidney was cross cut down the middle and both sides were roasted till they turned brown. Wrapped in thick mutton fat, the kidneys tasted delicious.
The boys were too busy eating to talk. More than 100 kebabs were eaten in a flash.
Qin Guan wondered why Li Jie, a thin little boy from South China, was such a heavy smoker. He asked Li Jie about it.
Li Jie did not mind his asking and he replied, “My family runs a small store and I used to be the keeper. Smoking is a must in business, you know.”
Li Jie’s Mandarin was a big headache for all his roommates. They knew that southerners were bad at learning languages though, so they tried their best to understand his Cantonese Mandarin.
It finally hit Qin Guan that he was actually the most mysterious of his roommates. He was being too deceptive. He just sat down and kept silent, looking like the son of an aristocratic family. His silliness would no longer remain a secret if he behaved or talked normally. It would make for a very funny contrast.
This was the third time Qin Guan had to explain to his roommates that he was really the biological son of his parents, and that there was no chance that he had been abandoned at birth by an aristocratic family. He was at a loss because of his roommates’ imagination.
Bonding over food was the best way to build a friendship. After the meal, they began to pal around with each other. In order to get to know each other easier, they lined up by age.
The oldest one was Ye Dong, the wild boy from Northeast China, who was very much like a bandit leader.
The second oldest turned out to be Qin Guan. Although he did not like being the second oldest boy in his dorm, he could do nothing  about it. He could not change his age.
The third oldest was Mu Lejiang, a rough boy from Northwest China. He had denied the rumor that kids went to school by camel in his hometown the moment he had met his roommates. 
The fourth oldest was Wang Lei, a man of letters from the South of the Yangtze River. Qin Guan found that Wang Lei talked the least, but he looked very smart. Devious was the best word to describe him.
The fifth oldest was Li Jie, a small shrewd businessman from Guangdong Province, whose ultimate goal was to achieve academic excellence and turn his family-run store into a listed company.
The youngest one was Liu Xiaoyang, a rich tsundere local who was difficult to deal with, indicating that his status in the dorm would be as low as his age rank among his roommates.
After wining and dining, the boys returned to their dorm. They took a quick shower, turned off the lights and went to bed.
Qin Guan lay in his bed in the dark. His thoughts drifted to his past life. By this time, he had been admitted to a technical college. His rough looks had made people think he had retaken his courses many times. Usually, most of the students in a technical college were taciturn boys who were immersed in their own world. Qin Guan had lived in the same dorm for four years, but he had talked very little with his roommates.
Now, he’d been admitted to one of the best universities of finance and economics. Students majoring in finance eventually became articulate, whether they had that inclination or acquired the ability by hard work. Qin Guan had a lot to talk about with his roommates and he believed that was a good start.
The next morning, he got up early according to his timetable. He picked up a towel and went to the washroom.
Yes, it was a washroom. At the time, dorms were not equipped with a private bathroom, so there was a public washroom on every floor.
The row of taps above the long washing sink looked quite spectacular.
Facing the sink, Qin Guan squeezed some toothpaste out and started brushing his teeth. While he brushed, he thought about his plan for the day. His courses would officially begin tomorrow. His parents were staying in Beijing for a very short period of time and would go back home that night.
Qin Guan’s plan was quite tight. Thinking of this, he spat the foam out of his mouth. He had to be quick and go meet his parents early.
Qin Guan walked out of the washroom and went back to his dorm. It was quiet there as all his roommates were still asleep. He walked on tiptoe and put away his toiletries. Then he closed the door carefully, went downstairs and headed for the canteen.
Inexpensiveness was the best characteristic of university canteens in 1998. Qin Guan arrived there very early. The senior cooks had hardly opened the sales window when Qin Guan passed his meal ticket to them.
The second canteen was very big. There were two metal buckets in the hall. The workers opened the lid and a blast of hot air floated up. This was the free soup served by the canteen. When finishing the meal, students could take the ladle and scoop some up for themselves. Qin Guan bought three standard breakfasts: soya-bean milk, deep fried dough sticks and tea-boiled eggs. It only cost him 3.6 yuan in total with a free takeout plastic bag. Qin Guan put his breakfast into the bag and strolled toward the hotel where his parents were staying.
No four-star hotel had yet been built near the Capital University of Finance and Economics. There were only some small bungalows in the area and the hotel where Qin Guan’s parents were staying, which was the nearest one to the University. It was humble, but clean enough.
After breakfast, Qin Guan took his parents to Xizhimen, just like they had planned earlier. Seated at the second ring of Beijing, it was only three kilometers away from his University and the first stop of the day.
There were not many cars on the street. Yellow minibuses came and went. You always needed to pay the driver 10 yuan, regardless of the mileage.
They saw no high-rises on both sides of the street. Residential quarters here were all six-storey high. Qin Guan knew his way around well and led his parents to the sales office.
At the time, Beijing was going through an era of a large-scale development. The city’s population was not soaring and migrant workers had not swarmed in yet.
People could be allocated a house by their employers and commodity houses were still an unfamiliar concept for them. Beijingers did not want to buy more houses because they already had a free house to live in.
Qin Guan’s parents though did not hesitate in buying one. Perhaps it was because they were not locals and owned no house there, but they did not reject Qin Guan’s proposal to buy a house near his University.
They took a look at all the houses for sale and excluded high-end flats and prism high-rise buildings out of their purchase plan.
