On their way to the practice stadium, Wisteria walked in front to lead the group.
"Wis! Wis!" Valerian and Violet's voices came from behind, "Is there anything that you're afraid of?"
"Something I'm afraid of?" He questioned, "Could you give me an example?"
"Like roaches or heights!" Valerian replied.
Wisteria knew what they were after.
"Hmm..." He gave it a thought, "You mean like those small crawling animals, like mice and rats, right?"
"Hm. Okay~" They shrugged their shoulders and slowed down their pace, putting themselves behind the protagonist trio.
Now, being closest to the Fleur and the two male leads, he could hear Lupin and Admon holding down their bickering as to not disturb those around them... to no avail.
He gave a quick glance behind, and as expected, the two male leads argued shoulder by shoulder, leaving Fleur walking by herself in front of them. She seemed to be spacing out on her own, as if she had grown accustomed to it. In Wisteria's eyes, this wasn't the scenario he had imagined Fleur Alabaster to be in. He had always pictured her being harmoniously surrounded by the male leads and the twins, not like... this.
Wisteria had originally planned to build a wall between the novel's main characters and himself, especially Fleur. That way, he could prevent his personal involvement with their upcoming tension with the Necromancer. However, the sight of the protagonist walking on her own amidst a crowd of people reminded him of himself from his past-life.
He exhaled silently and gave himself a pityingly look.
"Fleur," He finally turned and smiled, "I heard from the professors that you started using magic not that long ago, is that true?"
Having heard her name, she automatically returned a polite smile, "That's true. On my last year at the academy, a classmate was gravely injured and I was able to heal them. But I haven't been able to use that magic since then... I'm not as talented as everyone here..."
"I see." He nodded understandingly, "Although the average magic-user is able to manifest their Mana at the same time they start puberty, it doesn't mean that those who start later are less talented. It's just that they didn't get as much time as the others to practice. Besides, the dean saw potential in your skills, which is why you're in this class! So, don't feel discouraged. It's never too late, and I'm here to guide you all!"
"Thank you." Her eyes brightened up, smiling.
"Mm." He smiled back, feeling inexplicably nostalgic.

The class whispered among themselves as they made their way into the large, empty stadium. Its appearance was that of a regular sports stadium, including a wall of elevated seats for audiences and a track field surrounding a grassed field in the center. The only difference was that right above them was a large translucent dome, in which an activated rune traveled throughout the surface. The practice stadium was the best location for athletes and magic-users to practice without limiting their powers, since it was thoroughly protected by barrier- and self-maintenance-runes.
"Okay," Wisteria clapped his hands once, "So, the assessment will comprise of a one-on-one challenge against me. While I am testing one of you, the rest will have one of my Mana-dummies to practice on the side. So, who wants to go first?"
"We--"
"I'll go." Admon raised his hand, cutting before Violet and Valerian.
"Not fair, we said it first..." Valerian complained.
"Admon raised his hand first, so he'll go first." Wisteria forced a smile, "You two can go second."
"Didn't you say it'd be one-on-one? How come they'll go together?" Lupin asked from the side.
"It's not your business." Violet replied.
"You're not even part of the class." Valerian added.
"Well, that's a good question." Wisteria answered quickly before it turned into another argument, "Violet's and Valerian's magic works best when they work together, so I'll allow them to go as a pair."

"Also, Violet, Valerian," He transmitted his voice through Mana directly to the twins, softening his tone, "Lupin received permission to observe the class, so please give him a break, alright?"
Although he felt bad for speaking to them as if they were children, he didn't expect Violet and Valerian, who were only a year younger than him, to nod like two children themselves, "Okay..."
"??" Lupin raised his eyebrow, confused by the twin's sudden response.
"Okay! So, while Admon duels with me, all of you can move to the other side of the stadium and practice with these---" As he finished his instructions, he stretched his arm out and faced his palm towards the ground. His Mana poured down like a viscous liquid, coagulating onto the floor. Slowly, the blob of Mana divided into four blobs, which then turned into four short, round, and stubby version of Wisteria himself, their eyes drawn as simple dots and a curved line as a mouth.
"They're mini Wis!" Valerian exclaimed.
"So cute! Is one mine?" Violet asked.
"Yes, one each. The dummies should be able to detect what type of magic you use and adapt accordingly."
"Okay!" Violet and Valerian skipped towards the other side of the stadium, holding the Wisteria plushies (?) in their arms.
"Wisteria," Fleur raised her hand, looking troubled, "My magic is not the offensive type, so what will I do instead."
"Right. As for your assessment, it will be a little different from the rest, so for now just focus on emitting Mana into your palm." He pointed his finger to his dummy and--SLASH!-- the dummy received several cut-like openings on it's arms. "And try healing the dummy's injuries. We'll talk more when it's your turn."
"Alright. Thank you, Wisteria." She smiled and took hold of the dummy's hand, walking along the dummy towards the other side of the stadium.
Meanwhile, he saw Lupin following behind Fleur, leaving his Wisteria-dummy on his lonesome.
"Lupin!" Wisteria shouted at the already far away young man. He ran towards the lonely dummy and with a kick, he sent his dummy flying towards Lupin.
"!!!" Lupin placing his hand on the hilt of his sword, "The hell!?"
"Catch it! Don't attack it yet! If you attack, it'll attack back!"
Following his directions, he withdrew his hands form the hilt and caught the flying Wisteria-dummy with one hand.
As expected of the best swordsman in the kingdom!
"I'm not part of the class, though!" Lupin shouted.
"That's fine! Just have fun!" He waved his hand.
Lupin was speechless, but obediently took his dummy under his arm.
Wisteria nodded and smiled happily. He wanted to give Lupin opportunities to grow as well, because if he's able to avoid fighting the Necromancer, it would be up to Lupin and Admon to fight him off. Besides, Lupin was the male lead he liked the most when he read the novel, hoping the protagonist would end up with him.
But at the end...
After the rest of the class had been dismissed, it was finally time to focus on his first student to assess, Admon.
Wisteria hovered several steps behind, placing a large distance between Admon and himself. At the same time, the moment he stepped on the ground, an opaque wall of Mana formed in the middle of the stadium, blocking the view from both sides.
"Now that we are set, let's get started. The only thing you have to do is try to make me move from this spot."
"Got it." Admon didn't waste any time, and firmly stomped on the ground. The shadows under his feet stretched like rubber, aiming straight at the target.

It was easy to repel Shadow Manipulation if one mastered Light Manipulation, which at that moment, only Sage-level sorcerers could use. All Wisteria had to do was make himself a light source, so shadows wouldn't be able to get near.
Seeing no effect, Admon rushed closer to his new instructor. He extended his arms forward, pressing his palms together. Then, as he drew his arms apart, a blanket-like shadow formed between them. He grasped the shadow-blanket in his hands, and prepared to drape the blanket over Wisteria.
Wisteria didn't move, simply complementing Admon's superb skills in his mind. He created an item with his own shadow! Very good!
---Whoosh---
The shadow blanket fell over him, enveloping him within. As a result, as he, the light source, became covered by the light-absorbing blanket, the shadows around him successfully wrapped around him into a dark cocoon.
Admon smiled at the success, and swung his arm to the side, commanding the shadows to pull.
"!!"
To his surprise, the shadows didn't budge and ripped instead. Admon tried once and twice again, but to no avail. He could only watch as rays of light pierced through the shadow cocoon, then bursting with a small explosion.
Wisteria reminded standing on the same spot, the shadows now slowly dissipating.
"..." Admon gritted his teeth.
"Can you keep going, Admon?" Wisteria asked.
"No..."
"That's okay, you did great!" Wisteria commented as he walked closer to him, "I was impressed that you were able to make an item using your shadows! Not only was the blanket able to absorb light, it even had a nice, soft texture! That was amazing!"
Admon forced a smile, "Thank you..."
"Do you mind if I take a look at your Mana?"
"Sure." He extended his arm forward, forming a rotating sphere of Mana over his palm.
Wisteria inspected the Mana, and as he thought, Admon still had enough strength to fight him a few more times.
Wisteria knew that Admon had a complex with his magic from reading the novel. He grew up trying to hide his magic as much as possible, since many associated Shadow Manipulation with the Necromancer, even though the Necromancer's magic had nothing to do with shadows. That's why he built his personality as someone well-tempered and gentle, concealing negative emotions from showing publicly.
"Alright. Thank you." Wisteria said, "And, I'm being honest when I said your magic was impressive. I had to use quite a lot of Mana to counter your magic!"
"Thank you." Admon said, unmoved, "Which areas do I need to improve?"
"From what I saw today, your magic was flawless. Plus, your magic-affinity is well tuned with your body. So, what do you think if we work on leveling up your overall skills, such as trying to build other stuff using shadows?"
"That sounds good."
"Is there anything else you want to work on?" Wisteria asked.
"No."
"Alright." Wisteria forced a smile, "Then, you can go ahead and call Violet and Valerian to come in. In the meantime, you can use their dummies."
"Alright. Thank you."
Wisteria watched Admon walk away dejectedly. In the novel, Admon was shown to envy Wisteria for being skilled with Mana-type magic despite being two years younger. The Wisteria of the novel also didn't do much to improve his relationship with Admon, since he only focused his time with Fleur.
Though, the current Wisteria didn't want to leave things like that. He had to think of a way to helping Admon overcome his complexes so he could reach his full potentials as the first male lead!
Meanwhile, Violet and Valerian entered.

Chapter 15
 
Not long after Ron and his family arrived at the hall, a burst of hearty laughter resounded from outside the Clan Martial hall. 
As Ron and the others turned to look, a healthy looking old man in his early sixties entered the hall. 
This old man was none other than Bigil Boris, the Boris Clan Chief for the past twenty five years.
"Clan Chief!"
"Clan Lord!"
Grand elder Antony came forward "Uncle!"
Clan Chief Bigil Boris nodded and smiled at his nephew Antony who was the son of his late brother.
He was extremely happy to see Antony.
Upon Clan chief Bigil Boris's arrival, except grandfather Robert and Grandmother Maria, all other residents of the Boris clan present in the hall stood up to pay their respects.
"Chief Commander!"
Clan Chief Bigil Boris smiled, greeted and bowed his head to grandfather Robert before turning to face the rest of the people of Boris Clan.
He walked to the front of the Martial hall, his eyes swept over the crowd in the hall which finally stopped on a scar faced old man and then said "Let's begin the Ceremony."
The scar faced old man respectfully answered "Yes, Clan Chief".
The scar faced old man was none other than the First Elder of the Boris clan.
The first elder waved his hand and then a special metallic stand along with a round crystal stone on it appeared from his storage ring.
He placed it at the centre of the hall and respectfully said "I will call out the names of the clan members who have registered for the ceremony one by one. As you hear your name called, come forward to test your Martial Spirit."
"John, you first" The first elder looked at a child named John Boris.
"Yes, elder." John Boris answered and stepped forward. He extended his hand and placed it on the Martial spirit testing stone. 
The stone soon released a dazzling light and then wrapped around the body of John.
 He was completely covered by a glowing light as if he had a glowing body.
A shadow of a beast gradually emerged from the glowing body of John. 
It was unrecognisable earlier but gradually the body of the beast was consolidating and becoming more real. 
A Gorilla with two horns on it forehead finally appeared before all. Soon most of them recognised the Martial spirit and the elders felt sympathy for John.
A grade two martial spirit was an ordinary spirit.
"It is a late stage grade two Martial spirit called two horned Golden Gorilla" The first elder shouted.
"If it was a three horned Golden gorilla, then it would have been a grade three martial spirit" one of the elders sighed with his eyes full of pity.
"Next, Nimmy"
An eight year old girl approached the stand. She bowed and then raised her hand to place it on the stone.
An intense light shrouded her body and gradually a flower type Martial spirit appeared.
The eyes of elders brightened.
"Poisonous miasma Red Orchid, a Mid grade three Martial spirit" the first elder shouted tremblingly.
Clan Chief Bigil seated on the main seat smiled "Good.. Good..."
People in the hall were stunned to see a grade three martial spirit. 
The girl named Nimmy was extremely happy to know that the martial spirit she awakened is a Mid grade three spirit.
"Next Xavier..."
The ceremony continued as one after another tested and awakened their Martial spirit.
"Louis, come forward" stated the first elder.
Louis Boris came forward and gave a respectful bow to all the elders and Clan Chief.
Bigil nodded with a smile full of expectation.
Louis extended his hand and placed it on the Martial spirit testing stone. The intense light from the testing stone shrouded his body.
A shadow of a beast gradually emerged from the light shrouded body of Louis. The unrecognisable shadow gradually condensed and finally turned real. 
Rooaarrrr....
A ferocious roar sounded in the Martial hall.
The roar made everyone in the hall utterly dumbfounded.
A ferocious looking Lion appeared before all.
The crowd within the hall clamoured on hearing the loud roar from the Lion martial spirit.
Only a grade four and above Martial spirit can make the sound.
"An early grade five martial spirit, the Purple Lightning Lion" The first elder cried out in a trembling voice.
Louis's martial spirit turned out to be an early grade five elemental martial spirit, the Purple Lightning Lion!
Thus, the cultivation of Louis would improve at a faster rate if he cultivated using a lightning cultivation technique.
Grand elder Antony looked at the Purple lightning Lion and his body trembled uncontrollably as he was barely able to contain the excitement he felt at that very moment.
Clan Chief Bigil Boris stared at the shadow of the Purple Lion behind Louis, his eyes shone brightly as he let out a big laugh proving that he was tremendously pleased.
"Wonderful..... Wonderful..... I did not think that I would get such a wonderful surprise."

Even grandfather Robert had to admit that Antony has an extremely talented son because of the scarcity of the grade five martial spirit talents.
"What an awful talent. What's with all these bullshit felicitations? It's just a low and puny grade five martial spirit" Phoenix commented with disdain from within the pearl.
Ron smirked in a silly way at the comment made by phoenix.
The whole hall was filled with the clamouring noise of the crowd.
"Oh my god, Louis awakened an early grade five martial spirit and that too an elemental grade five martial spirit."
"It's a superb talent Martial spirit. Why am I not so lucky enough to have a grade five martial spirit? Why? Why?"
"Don't you guys know that an elemental martial spirit is considered as one of the best among the same grade of martial spirits? Since the martial spirit of Louis is an early grade five spirit, then it would be one of the best among all early grade five Martial spirits due to the elemental affinity."
"Mmm..... I am so jealous. Now he shall be the star genius of the Green plum city."
"Louis..... Look at me..... look at me.... I want to be your girlfriend."

A young seven year old girl with two pony tails hairstyle nervously approached the stand. She was a beautiful girl with golden hair and blue eyes. 
Jia bowed to the elders and then raised her hand to place it on the stone.
An intense light shrouded her body and gradually a wriggling rodent Martial spirit appeared.
"Two headed rodent, a peak grade three Martial spirit" the first elder shouted enthusiastically.
The crowd and the elders in the hall were stunned to see another grade three martial spirit, especially a peak grade three martial spirit.
The talent exhibited by the children of the ceremony this time were far better than the ceremonies conducted before.
As the ceremony resumed, it was finally Ron's turn to test.
The first elder notified the crowd "Ron Boris, come forward".
His grandfather Robert was waiting with a calm and composed face as if the results do not matter to him and all he cared about was the well being of his grandson.
Whereas his grandmother Maria was clenching her fists with nervousness written all over her face, even her heartbeat quickened watching her grandson Ron walking towards the awakening stone with an expression of tranquillity on his face.
Ron placed his palm on the stone just like others and then the light from the stone appeared and shrouded his body.
The crowd stared blankly waiting to know the type and grade of the martial spirit of the grandson of the Chief Commander of the kingdom.
Then, an extremely pure pitch black shadow appeared before the crowd. The silence of the hall was broken by a particular sound.
This shadow made the crowd stunned what made them even more dumbfounded was the sound made by the martial spirit.
The entire crowd including the crying infants were stupefied and became silent.
Even the Clan Chief and Grandfather Robert who have experienced probably everything in their life were still shocked silly and made a round open mouth face.

Soon a notification came up, telling to me if I want to copy the map. giddily I accept it before getting pulled by mom with angry expression, man... I won't say that I didn't get scared at Mom...

"Shit... are you kidding me? at least 200?", I cursed under my breath seeing the large number of the quest requirements. Sighing I go near my east and scan the surroundings and saw a river. I spotted a pack of five ▪︎Greyfur Wolves▪︎ drinking at the side of the river, and keeping my distant inside the bush I started to do my magic.
Since I have two kinds of Magic Affinities, which were Light and Darkness, I know that there is always a theory in it. Light repels Darkness, and this magic is very useful in creating AOE skills. Light Magic have the skill [Heal] and [Light Bolt], which I can do but it would be more provocative at the other monsters now if I use it.
Darkness, were the impure and vile part that always diminishes if got near of Light. [Shadow Ball], which is like fire ball but pulses with black mana if fired were the best to create. I started conjuring my mana at the tip of my fingers that mimics a gun, visualizing perfectly the shape and Type of magic I would conjure. Remembering what my mother said about using a spell, which needs a chant before it works, I feel lowly dump.
"Chants? who said I would say those chuuni words just to cast a spell? I already can cast it like nothing so...", I took a deep breath and focus more deeply on processing a small dark ball with compressed mana. I got out of the bush and aimed it on the oblivious pack.
"[Shadow Ball]!", I muttered as the ball flew towards the pack. The wolves noticing it were late on action as the ball were already near at them.
*BOOM!*
An explosion can be heard as the wolves can't be seen nowhere, dusts flew everywhere and a little fire on the ground danced happily, notifications rang in melody.

Not minding of checking my Status and the notification, I realized something.
"Oh shit, that explosion would make every monsters came here!", I panicked which where Eve scolded me. Growls and Hisses can be heard nearing at me.
[Don't panic! this is also a way of fast levelling! Now use your Shadow Clones and Conjure many Shadow Balls as you can, about mana... make sure you'll level up before it rans out!]
"In what kind of shit would that help!", I shouted at Eve but fo what she suggested at me.
I summoned 4 [Shadow Clones] in exchange of 80 MP, the clone surrounded me and I equipped my wand, conjured One [Shadow Ball] in Exchange of all my Mana. I run with my clones at a large stone near the river.The Growls and Hisses came near and A pack of 20 Wolves arrived running fastly towards us from the bushes and 17 Phythons slithering at the water to grip me and my clones beneath.
My clones too conjured [Shadow Ball] with their wands and find their enemies to fight, this time waiting for my command when to shoot the all power they have. As the wolves and the Phythons cames near, I warily stared at my Magic.
Hearing the nearest Growl, I shouted.
"Now! [Shadow Ball]!"
I shoot my shadow ball at the wolves and the other two of my clones simultaneously shooted their shadow balls before poofing, same as the other two which shoot their magic in the water.
