"Momo... hurry up!!.... we're going to be late!!" Yelled Linda, as she rushed towards the newly constructed building within the school premises.
Little Momo and her, were on their way towards the chemistry laboratory.
Today, they were taking Chemistry 3.
Ever since the beginning of April, they had been taking 6 main courses:
•Biology 1 (Classes of living organisms)
•Math 4 (simple variable math, like find X)
•Chemistry 2
•Chemistry 3 (introduction to lab science)
•Physics 1
•Phyno 4
Apart from these ones, they also had other fun and creative courses that occurred once a week... like:
•Arts & Craft 1
•Ethics & Morality 1 
•Health & Hygiene 1
•Literature 1
•Music 1
• And Physical Education 
Another surprising thing for the students was that this year, the school had created a Student Council body based on the votes from the students.
Also, each class had a class monitor and deputy class monitor that's entrusted in assisting the teachers in class, aiding the weak students, roll call... and so on.
No matter what amongst the 2 leaders, one had to be female and the other male.
Generally, once the winners for both the Male Group and female group emerged.... the students would then vote between the 2, and choose who should be the class monitor or deputy class monitor.
For the biology class, the students were taught the basics like: cells, microbes, plant systems, animal systems, invertebrates and vertebrates.
In short, they were taught about all the classes of living organisms.
Of course for Math 4, they focused on simple variable math... like 5x=10, find X.
In that class, they focused on understanding one to two variable equations..... which were usually linear equations.
For chemistry 2, the students would still focused on reactions, atoms and so on.... but now with the use of calculators, they had begun learning about calculating molecular weight and so on.
Of course just so that the students could breathe a little, music, literature, physical education and arts & craft were essentially a must.
In short, this semester was a busy one.
Today, Linda and little Momo were heading towards the Chemistry Lab in the new school building.
Once they got in, they immediately climbed the stairs until they arrived at the 3rd floor... where they were greeted with a large group of students outside the lab.
The area was bustling with busy students.
Friends greeted each other with hugs or playful punches, while others had their eyes glued on their books as they continued doing assignments that were due in the next class.
Some already had their lab coats and safety wears on, while others were busy wearing theirs on now.
In fact, everyone was doing their own thing as they waited for the class to begin.
Instantly, the duo opened their bags and quickly pulled out their neatly folded lab coats and safety items.
For this class, everyone was required to wear their lab coats, gloves, rubber boots, and goggles.
Linda looked at her watch and knew that it would soon be time for them to go in.
And right on queue, Mother Kim and teacher Gophen opened the lab doors from instead and ushered the students in.
"Morning Teacher Kim!"
"Morning teacher Gophen!"
"Morning teacher...."

Everyone greeted their teachers, as they walked in and immediately found their usual spot.
The Laboratory was massive, with several working slabs, cupboards with equipments stored in them, and a small storage room at its front.
Linda and Momo immediately spotted their other group members, and rushed over to join them.
Ever since the beginning of the semester, they had been put in groups of 5.
Apparently, these people would be their lab partners throughout the entire semester.
"Alright.... before we begin, you all know the drill.
In front of each group, are 5 question sheets.
You all have 7 minutes to answer them.
Remember, no cheating and no copying.... these small tests make up 20% of your final grade.
Now.... Begin!!"
Linda immediately flipped her question sheet and got to work.
For this Chemistry 3 course, they had 1 theory class on Tuesdays, and 1 lab session on Thursdays.
And at the beginning of each lab session, they would have mini quizzes that would test them on what they had learnt in their Tuesday classes.
Chemistry 3 was a course based on Laboratory work, so they had to know about the equipments in front of them, safety lab hazards and so on.
In fact... Ever since the students knew that these questions were 20%, they had taken them seriously
Linda filled her name and school number on the question sheet, before proceeding to answer the questions.
The questions were straight to the point, and easy to answer if one was paying attention during lectures.
And just like that, time flew by quickly... 7 minutes later, the quizzes collected back by teacher Gophen.
And the papers were collected, Mother Kim began distributing the Lab manual sheets for today's experiment.

"Alright.... before we begin our Laboratory experiment, let's recap on what Teacher Winnie has been you all in Chemistry 2." Mother Kim said.
The students immediately took out their books and writing materials.... While others flipped the pages of their books to the last pen-filled page.
It was important for the students to know about what reactions they were going to perform today, hence it was good for them to recap on what they were previously taught.
"So as usual, let's look back on what you all have been learning so far.
I need a few examples of chemistry around us... anyone?" Mother Kim asked, as she waited for the students to raise their hands.
"Yes Filipa?" She said, while pointing at a little girl at the front of the room.
"Air is essentially chemistry, because it's constantly undergoing a chemical change.
For example, we breathe out carbon dioxide and take in oxygen... so air is always changing.
Also... air undergoes changes whenever smoke is released in to the atmosphere by burning, hence it's part of Chemistry."
"Correct!!.
Any other examples of Chemistry around us?" Kim asked.
"Our bodies."

The most disgusting sound in the world is an alarm clock. It's time to get up and go to school. Turning off the alarm decided to lie down for five minutes. I lie and think, if only the classes were canceled. Or there would be an end to the world. Or at least not to go there ever. Okay. Anyway, such a miracle will not happen. We must get together. I get up. On the way to the bathroom, I look into my mother's room. Asleep. She comes home from work late at night. I'm already sleeping at this time. Often she comes drunk. Or brings along alcohol. I got up and headed for the door. When I passed the teacher. He stopped me and said:
- Jessica, do not go. Let's go to the director.
I was dumbfounded with indignation. And asked in a low voice:
- What happened?
The math teacher didn't answer me. Despite me, he called Brain," Let's go you too. I didn't understand anything, I sat near the director's office.
A math teacher left the director's office and called us with a gesture of his hand. Brain came in first. I followed him. The director is an elderly woman, African-American Lubinda. The director sat down on her chair with a loud sigh. Looking at me, she quietly said, "Go home, and tomorrow I am waiting for your mother." I quickly stuffed my things in my backpack and headed for the exit.

Since then, although her conditions have gotten stable, there was not much improvement in her health. It has been 3 days since she had been admitted to the hospital.  

"Oh! I forgot about that. Then, let's go or else we're going to be late today," said Saksham.

"Alright," replied Anitha.

As they were walking down the street, many people would turn towards Saksham and Anitha and be envious. Girls couldn't help but want to replace Anitha and walk down the street with Saksham but they kept this thought deep inside their hearts because they knew that they couldn't come close to 1/10th of Anitha's beauty and grace. 

And the same goes for boys. Some felt inferior just looking at Anitha. And some who didn't feel inferior gave up after looking at the handsome face of Saksham. Due to this handsome face, there had been quite a lot of times when he had been asked out by girls. But he had rejected all of them. And as for the reason? The reason is right now walking beside him. 


They were silent the whole way till they reached the school. Although this type of silence may be awkward for many, but not for Saksham. For Saksham, this was just the type of peace and the tranquil environment he wants when he is with Anitha. He likes this type of harmonious silence. It felt like Anitha also liked this type of silent walking. 


As both of them were in the same class, they entered the class together under the envious gazes of their classmates and sat down on their respective seats. The Homeroom teacher then took the attendance. After taking the attendance she asked every student to take their math books out. She was their class teacher as well as a Math teacher. Her name was Mrs Poonam Chander. Mrs Poonam Chander was a middle-aged woman with some white hair on her head. 

She suddenly announced loudly, "Students, as the final examinations come closer, we expect all of you to be studying with all your hearts to get great results in the finals. We, teachers, have done and taught you everything in the period of a year. From next week, you will have your Pre-boards. Through that, we will be able to find out just how much you lack for your Boards (Final Examinations). So, please put your playful attitudes and mischief aside for the duration of 3 months. If not, it may cost you, your future."

Everyone in the class nodded seriously but only a few took it to heart. Saksham was one of the few who took it seriously to heart and that is also why he wanted to use his powers to learn and understand everything which was taught in class 12th. If that could come true, then Saksham would have nothing to fear from the Boards examinations.



As Saksham had chosen Science stream, his next some periods were of Physics, Chemistry, English, and at last, Physical Education. In the Physical Education period, Saksham did nothing and sat down at a corner of the playground and watched other play the Football, Basketball, Kabbadi, and Badminton. As this was a combined class of several other classes, many students were on the playground. Saksham sat there quietly and watched others play on the ground enviously. 


Since small, his physique had always been very weak. So, there were not many times in his childhood that he had taken part in any sports activity. And due to this, he had always concentrated on his studies more. But he still couldn't help but be envious of those who could play for hours. 

Haah!

Saksham sighed and closed his eyes for a bit. Suddenly, a pair of hands covered his eyes. Then, he heard the playful sound of a girl coming from behind. The girl deliberately said in a hoarse tone, "Guess who?"

In modern society, the believers of the supernatural are not many and our protagonist was one of them until one day. That day, he realized that he had somehow gained some superpowers which the science cannot explain. He realized that he can control things, people, objects, destiny, life-and-death, and even the world with just his mere words. And this was not the limit of his powers. Time, gravity, celestial bodies....and maybe the heavens itself. Who knows? 

 But, soon he realized that he was not the only one with superpowers in this world. There were others too but, Saksham realized that for some reason, their powers were not as overpowered as his, or to say, their powers were too sh*t compared to his. 

Follow Saksham in his journey as he finds out the mystery behind his powers and eventually becomes a God-like existence and who would also come to be known as "The Most OP Protagonist In History".

Looking for fallens in Romania is going to be easy since there's only 1 place everyone is welcomed the main teleport hub and rest of the place belongs to either Vampires or Church and there's a line in between the borders of course the Vampire main territory is not here it's behind a magic fog that blocks the sunlight but these places are generally where they get their blood with memory wiping and such as long as they don't kill it's fine to feed of course that's just the front cover of the book since i know better.

Coming out of the hub i set my medallion to fallen angels it's a new thing i discovered about every race emits a different wavelength of magic i can change the sensitivity of the medallion to focus on a specific race it's been extremely helpful during my contracts and i start feeding it steady amounts of my energy to increase the range, it seems the hub is clear, i'm going to assume the popular places would be clear too, so i made my way to the border town to look around, found some stray devils but some blonde church girl was taking care of it so i left them and gone to another town ignoring the other things around me i moved with speed i would help someone in front of me but i won't go out of my way to help people.

After going around checking the town for tracks i found their trail by the time of sunset but they're going through the forest and other side is the fog barriers i was about to move but i sensed an attack from behind rolling forward and pulling my gear with magic i look at my assailant it's that blonde girl from morning.

Moving through the forest we found a wooden house, focusing my ears i heard children crying, guessing from the number of heart beats there's about 30 people if you don't count the fallen angels, i quickly relayed this info with my temporary partner and we decided to assault from two sides, surrounding the house and taking my position i used yrden on the houses perimeter and rushed in from the back door fighting inside will be my advantage otherwise i will have to pull them down with aard i hate flying enemies.

Right after going in i beheaded the poor guy who didn't even realize wtf is going on and rolled over to dodge a light spear getting up i used aard on my boots for the boost and killed the second fallen angel too two down two to go after going through the house i found the other one dead and the side of the house blown apart looking outside i saw Jeanne riding a dragon made of swords trying to hit the fallen angel they didn't seem to notice me so i cast a quick aard to his leg pulling him to the mouth of the dragon, she seems suprised until she turned to me i just gave her a wink and gone back in there's people to save.

Going to the basement we realized that this place is a blood bank one of the off the books types i have no idea why fallen angels are running the place i freed the children while Jeanne called the church to relocate the children i didn't get paid for the children, moving along the basement i found a familiar face it looks like she's been kept here for a while but she seems unharmed so might as well joke around.

I freed her and avoided the punch coming my way.

Grind is here and it is very much real, after Hilda dumped me with over a hundred books that she said "Elementary my dear child" i made my way to France and set up my fake history according to the official story i survived the fire at the orphanage(Apparently vampire burned the place) and ended up in France since i was a small child at the time i didn't know anything and lived in countryside of France and studied there and they didn't realize that i had no ID because the place i lived was modern enough to get highschool education but rural enough to not ask identity.

After that i came back to Italy and they asked me to take a test so i took the profenicy test and passed and entered the college i took math major like i did in my previous life, i was a school teacher back then, fun times but this life is not bad neither.

First year was hell i took extra classes to finish it early and i still had to keep up my training, i got the seals used for highest rank training and slapped it on whenever i'm not studying i can barely walk can't even run but it's still better than the time i took the minotaur mutagen, did some small time work with the church they were understanding enough at least.

Second year was better since the GWENT business rolled in the underworld and it's spread like fire i even saw an exorcist playing it and there's a special card made for me, there's only 3 of them made for me, Azazel and Ajuka it's a a Joker card if you want to put it that way so free advertisement.

Third year was the same i finished the books on magic although it's just the entry level books it's like doing math but nothing makes sense but somehow works anyway it's hard to put it to words, but my college life was easy going my head jump started at the second year i remember most of the stuff i even got license for teaching again since the protagonist is a student it's a good cover for me to be a teacher, and at last i graduated.

Now looking at myself i look around 18 years old, i am 1.87 Meters tall my build is not bulky for my height no extra weird looking muscles but you can't call it skinny, minimum amount of fat and every muscle is well defined my hair grow long enough to tie, i tied it to a ponytail like Geralt's my eye color have become more saturated now that i look at it i look like gender bended Blake Belladonna, i have complicated feelings about this but it's not like i hate it, anyway taking my Asgard ticket i put mana into it and found myself looking at Idris Elba no wait it's Heimdall.

Remember I said that I would teach those kids tomorrow? Guess what... you can teach dumb dogs new tricks! You just have to be more creative. I swear I've never written more than one entry per week but I guess I'll make this episode an exception. I'll update all sixteen entries each entry for a new delinquent I targeted.
Casper was actually surprised by how many approaches I could come up with within ten minutes while we were discussing it over lunch. The Female Prince had to leave early for last-minute preparations so we were given some time after classes to talk it over. So from his analysis, the most worrying vill- I mean delinquent is actually the leader, Junior. Why am I not surprised?
Basically, Math is not a strong point for a lot of people who are slightly lacking in the logical department. Most people who don't use the logic department to understand Math would use the memory department but what happens when you don't have either? Long answer short, you become a Junior type of case.
How does one overcome the tragedy of having neither a functioning logical department and a terrible memory? The answer is simple. We make a path that doesn't exist to input artificial intelligence. My hypothesis (as a pirate) is to bury in the sand we call his brain something he didn't have before that he can then dig up during the test and create a miracle. How does this work? Now, this is a social experiment story you would need to hear apart from the observation part of this journal.
Firstly, I came into class ditching all the Math books and concepts. Casper was in it with me. We started drawing pictures on the board and telling stories. Basically, Math is all about patterns. If they could learn to identify easy patterns, we can dumb down the harder ones and cut the trick shorter. No need to understand the whole thing, just pick out what will make it work. Casper was actually impressed with the plan I came out with. He calls it legally cheating but what do I care? I'm a pirate. we don't play fair, do we?
Basically, there is a way around the education system. There is a Chinese saying "Know thy enemy, know yourself, never lose a single battle" or something along those lines. If I can get into the mind of those question setters then I'll know what kind of questions they'll ask. If students know what's coming up in the test then all the need is a format to answer those questions and pluck the given numbers then punch the calculator to do the heavy lifting and give the examiners what they want. This way, everyone will be happy. Who cared if you knew why pi existed? It's redundant! They would never ask you questions like that.
Going back to the main point, I decided to use this approach to spoil the class into studying for a pass. Heck, like the scoundrel I was, I even picked out questions for them to perfectly nail so they would get the passing marks they required even if they didn't understand anything. Casper was amazed by the significant improvements in everyone immediately after the twenty-minute crash course.
The single-digit marks were now double digits for everyone except one person. Yes, you guessed it! It was no other than Junior. Of course, as the leader, he couldn't just say how depressed he was feeling but he didn't need to. The looks of pity from his underlings were enough to smash his pride to smithereens. Casper noticed it and offered to take over but the poor kid refused and walked out to the toilet but never returned even after fifteen minutes. I left the teaching to Casper, he has the lesson plans so he'll be fine.
It wasn't easy searching for Junior because it wasn't exactly polite for a lady to be knocking on the doors of male toilets to ask for someone and also, Junior didn't exactly go to the gents. If I didn't have a useful tip-off from Danny, I would probably have never figured it out. It was probably not the first time for Junior to hide out in the counsellor's room when he was having a downtime because Danny even knows his favourite biscuits. (They're ginger biscuits.)
It took a long time for me to get Junior out of the shell but I found out that Junior was actually suffering from a condition called mild Dyscalculia. That means Junior is born with the inability to deal with numbers. It's a medical condition that makes it hard for him to retain Math in his head no matter if it's adding to simple numbers or telling the time from the analogue clock. Junior used to struggle with telling his left from his right too but he's fixed that now because remembers left as the side where he has a small tattoo on.
Now, I'm a pirate and not a psychologist so I don't know what to do to cure him or if there is a cure for Dyscalculia. However, I wasn't going to give up on my mission. Oh no... if he can't do numbers very well, we'll just have to find another way around this.
Junior has no problem identifying numbers so that's a good start. We worked on his English language and I taught him how to spot questions and get hints as to how the answer is derived from a little more into detail. That took about forty minutes and I must say I was happy with the results. Junior benefited the most from it all and was extremely happy when he managed to get eight out of the twelve questions Casper prepared for him correct using the deduction method. It wasn't a fantastic result but it was a great start.
What was more shocking was how relaxed Junior looked by the end of it. Who would have believed that such a big boy like him would break down into tears in front of a tiny girl with a leg in a cast? Nobody, except for Danny. But this is probably the side of Junior that none of the class has seen before. In fact, I'll put my doubloons in to bet that they don't know anything about his disability.
This is where I think I should confess. If I didn't reveal that Junior had a learning disability, you might have brushed it off as him being too dumb to teach. Guess what? You'd have been making that same mistake I did too. Physical disabilities were easy to spot but mental disabilities were slightly harder. I didn't think Junior had any potential at first but when I understood his situation more, it made me wonder if things would have been different for him if the teachers knew better? If the school was equipped with better resources to help children like him who needed that extra help... would he have succeeded?
On the flip side, perhaps Junior knew about all the teasing he would be getting from the other 'normal' kids and the judgement of adults if they knew so he chose to keep quiet about it. I don't know what the best course of action is for him. If it were you, what would you have chosen?

"Gather in front of the palace at six o'clock tomorrow morning and set off with the troops! Dismissed!" Ren Baqian waved his hand at the people below, and the students immediately leaped away like alpacas released from their reins.
Yes, they leaped.
A bunch of students would be tagging along for the fireworks show.
Ren Baqian had always been reiterating to the students why they were learning and what this knowledge could be used for!
He didn't want them to immediately become officials after they graduated!
Although the court of Dayao also lacked new blood that had undergone basic education, he needed them more. 
Ren Baqian turned his head and saw the two sword masters standing in the distance. 
"You have been waiting for a long time," he greeted them with a smile.
"You exaggerate, Your Highness!" Du Mengyang and Ling Du replied politely.
"Have you read the books? Did you learn anything?" He looked at the two and asked what he was most concerned about.
"Apart from chemistry, the rest are okay!" one of them replied.
"Everything except for biology! I get angry when I read that humans evolved from monkeys. How could our ancestors be monkeys? Who is this Charles Darwin? I must make him pay the price for spouting nonsense!" The other man was quite annoyed.
The two weren't really dispirited. In fact, Ren Baqian had already told Du Mengyang and Ling Du to pick what they liked and what they were good at.
"Oh, Charles Darwin… I'm not sure if his coffin still exists…" Ren Baqian pondered over this and thought that it would be pretty difficult for him to pay the price for spouting nonsense!
He had actually revised the current teaching materials twice and had erased a lot of information about Earth. Most people wouldn't be thinking about the outside world after reading them.
However, these were just small issues. Du Mengyang and Ling Du were happy for the most part.
They actually took back quite a number of books. In addition to a simplified dictionary, which was revised according to the characters of this world, they also took math books that were at an elementary school level and algebraic geometry books that were at the high school freshman level. There was also a physical chemistry book for high school sophomores and a biology book for their first semester. 
The two actually memorized so much information within just one month that it was extremely remarkable.
"It's good that you two have learned something. I'm about to leave the city tomorrow and would like to ask you some questions to gauge your situation." Ren Baqian suddenly burst out laughing.
"Please ask, Your Highness!"
"Come to my office!" He led Du Mengyang and Ling Du into his office, briefly flipped through the previous exams, and circled out a few questions for them. For each subject, there were ten fill-in-the-blank questions worth 40 points and six short-answer questions worth 60 points.
Two hours later, Ren Baqian looked at the papers they handed in and was overjoyed.
Both of them scored an average of above 80 points.
It was unexpectedly good for Du Mengyang and Ling Du to score above 80 marks in several subjects after just one month of learning.
Ren Baqian was already certain that these sword masters were unbelievably talented in learning!
"Congratulations, you two!" He smiled.
"Looks like we are qualified!" Du Mengyang and Ling Du smiled as well.
"Now we can talk about things in detail!" Ren Baqian sat back and said to them. "What you guys have read are the materials that I plan for the 13 and 14 year old youths to learn. It's just a small part of the sea of knowledge; a small river where the water doesn't even reach your knees."
The two raised their eyebrows and felt a little surprised.
Du Mengyang and Ling Du learned these subjects very quickly, but they knew in their hearts that most of these had already exceeded the scope of geniuses.
For instance, elementary school math was pretty easy, but most of the high school level algebraic geometry was beyond what scholars had learned.
It was needless to mention physical chemistry.
"There's still a lot of knowledge to be learned later. I hope you can obtain a deeper knowledge and use it as the basis for doing things. Regardless of whether it's research or teaching, the duration of the contract is 20 years. After all, this knowledge isn't easily spread to others. If you want to leave before the contract term ends, the cost will be huge. I hope you can understand this.
Of course, I'll give you adequate rewards.

"You two don't have to worry about this. In five years' time, Lan City's prosperity will reach a level where people will want to spend the rest of their lives here. After all, this is the capital of Dayao. These streetlights are only the beginning. Countless merchants will be coming in and out, and the supplies will be abundant enough to entrance people. Du Mengyang and Ling Du looked at each other and thought that this condition was indeed acceptable.

It wasn't impossible to say that Lan City would reach a fairly prosperous level in a few years.
As for the issue of the aboriginals not being friendly enough, Du Mengyang and Ling Du didn't really care.
Judging from the information the pair had obtained, Ren Baqian had spent a lot of time on these changes.
People from the Yun Nation and Jing Tribe could now at least walk freely on the streets.

"We are only signing the agreement with you! Not with the imperial court!" The two noted another point.

He understood their concerns.
After all, he wasn't an aboriginal either, so Du Mengyang and Ling Du could naturally trust him with some matters. Neither of them had much confidence in dealing with the aboriginal barbarians in the imperial court.
"How many people do you want, Your Highness?"
"The more the merrier! It would be better if all the sword masters could make this place their home!"
"We can only say that we'll try our best. Also, we need to go back to contact the others." 
"In that case, I hope that you will not reject the company of my staff. As far as I know, the opinions in your organization aren't unified. Your decision may affect some people, and not everyone will be pleased with it. My men will mainly be responsible for your safe return!" Ren Baqian explained.
"Thank you for your trouble, You Highness!" Du Mengyang and Ling Du looked at each other. Although this move might not be without the intention of surveillance, what he said also wasn't without reason.

This would involve more than 100 talented academics!

Even if they were limited by vision and insight, their talent was their greatest strength.

Chapter 159 - Simple Math Turned Difficult! 

"We going to hit that at a distance of 240 feet maximum...! Our Shadow members show that they could hit a moving target between 40 to 80 yards and these jars would be filled with animal fat, right?" everyone nodded during this juncture.

"The 9 feet wide and 2 feet deep trenches were filled with straws and other flammable wood chippings, kindling, all that kind of stuff. Then an arrow hits the jar and broke the contents into the ditches and imagine hitting and breaking rows of jars filled with animal fat at an interval of maybe 20 feet apart."

"Once these jars were hit by arrows, these ditch with all the flammable stuff would be covered by animal fat, right. So....." I was interrupted by Heather at this moment. Even if her answer was about ¼ right, but her methodology was ¾ wrong. Hahaha.

"You will then let someone run there with a burning torch and light it up and then run back, innit?" I laughed so hard when I heard what Heather had just noted to us that the citizens pitting the roasting wild boar were shocked by my raucous laughter...!

Heather immediately covered my mouth with her cupped hands and she screamed at me on the reason why do I need to laugh so hard at her answers. I laughed once again, muffled by her hand over my mouth until I became teary-eyed.

"What do you expect to tell the marauders if someone were to run to that point and torch the place up? Is the bloke going to say 'Oi... Stand back yer rebel scums... I'm going to light this up, so yeah...! Quit coming closer...! Hahaha..." I laughed again and were joined by others and suddenly *TTHHUUMMPP* A flat fist landed on my chest and I had almost forgotten how it felt for some months already...!

I coughed as I tried to catch my breath as Gwen and Crystal commented on how Heather had become stronger these days... "My Golly...! They talk about Heather getting stronger and not giving me a single pity if I am alright or not after that thumping...!!" I thought to myself as I held my chest with my hands to protect myself from more thumping by Heather.

"Lady Heather, one day you're going to kill me with your fists...!" I bellowed out and immediately Heather began to rap her knuckles in the wooden study table.

"Actually Lady Heather's answer was somewhat right, to light the ditch up and this could be done by the Shadow members up in the Watchtower. Even if a Shadow member could hit a target beyond the ditch, it would be better for the marauders to try crossing over first. Then, once they failed they would be stepping over the anti-personnel devices and from there the hunter-gatherer could maim the marauders."

I finally concluded my defensive strategies as all the Ministers understood. Eagle who kept quiet the whole time knew what my mind was going through and what I wanted to convey to the rest of them. Eagle smiled at my conclusion for the defensive measures that I wish to partake.

The other reason was it was a waste to burn the row of houses down that was filled with straw. Not only would it burn very fast but the marauders on the other side could just chop and break the barricades down and wait for the houses to burn and smoulder down.

It's not very practical and it somehow made the job for those marauders easier — burning houses down for them.

However, there's a drawback when a village is surrounded by a wide ditch and that was limiting the growth and expansion of a village. The ditch was considered as a barrier surrounding the village and this would mark the end of an expansion for one village whether for farmlands or residential lots.

When I disclosed the idea to the Ministers, there were downcast looks all around. They thought that we had the most perfect ground level defensive strategy ever. I laughed at them since I explained that if there is a perfect defensive strategy, then someone would also devise on how to counter these perfect defensive strategies that we have. 

The Ministers nodded at what I had related and agreed at the idea as well. Furthermore, they added that having a ditch would inhibit the expansion growth of Gracehaven. So it's back to the drawing board again, I guess. 

Eagle eyed me and patted me on the back. "You are not trained as a military strategist but you can think of something that would change the tides of war. You haven't read any of those books I brought you, am I right? Seems you were busy governing at your own pace that you forgot about territorial lands and its other laws. Hahaha."

"I guess so, but there's so much to read and if I based on books alone, without a right advisor I don't think I could advance further, do I? It's like having an education without an educator... Wait... You're a Bishop and you could be our Advisor too... Hahahaha." I finally came to a conclusion since the mention of reading up the books and finding out more about territorial lands.

"Tell me, Eagle, when we first settled here and made an encampment it was alright since there was only 12 of us. We seek solace and protection since this place was near a body of water. But right now from an encampment, to a settlement and now as a village, does it seem that we have gone through a serious offence?"

"Well, as we all know, England and France are at war and it was known as 'A Hundred Years War' from 1337 till date. I don't think it's even called that anymore since its over 103 years now...!"

"There are many medieval Kings like the old King and Queen that rule over cities and small kingdoms and that's about all. They won't rise to become King of England and rule over the whole country, unlike King Henry VI."

"Take for example, Darlington. We had the same flag and coat of arms but it is now being called differently. That's the only difference. But to call this a —kingdom— like Darlington is a big no-no. What you could call Gracehaven is a '****' where its a division made up of subdivisions and would have its own river, forest and castle."

"We had abandoned a kingdom like Darlington and now moved to become a smaller denomination of Darlington instead. It is like a move, so basically, anyone could take over the previous Darlington and name it as something else or even uses its name again under a different crest and coat of arms." Eagle made it clear so that everyone would understand the current situation.

"As you can see from the current situation, England has more than 1,000 abandoned villages and settlements, and all its former inhabitants had moved to towns in search of better pastures, just like livestock. But those who moved had forgotten their roots and may even regret moving to the towns."

"Not only would it make towns overcrowded, but it would also make jobs more scarce. Take an example of Charlton from Hunton. That family had moved around between three other villages and found that the inhabitants had moved out and now were left in ruins and abandonment."

"So, in our situation right now, would you like to claim more land and declare this land as yours, my Lord? Or would you like to make it as it is as for now and expand gradually as Gracehaven grows?"

"The Hundred Years War may end tomorrow, next week or the month after or maybe drag in for another 100 years, only God knows. So what would your suggestion be?" Eagle hinted to me and Heather took out the provincial map and the village outline she had drawn the other say and brought it to our table.

Using the bridge as the centre line along with the courtyard and the river as the dividing line, I took a piece of string and use it to gauge it against the map's reference for measuring distance.

An inch represented ¼ mile and a quarter-mile on the map was equivalent to 1320 feet on the physical ground that we were standing on right now.

I overturned the paper that was drawn by Heather and use that as a reference because we do not have a proper magnifier to actually pinpoint Gracehaven on the current map. So I drew a straight line that represents the river and also the bridge.

I drew a simpler cross-section where I would name it Top Left (TL), Top Right (TR), Bottom Left (BL) and Bottom Right (BR). The centre denotes the bridge. On the BR I wrote 500 feet by 320 feet and TR as 320 feet by 320 feet. 
BL was noted as 1080 feet by 500 feet while the TL was noted at 1080 feet by 320 feet.

There were a lot of cancellations, scribbles and other annotations when finally I figured the whole matter right. I was literally perspiring when I have to convert miles into feet and then to accurately make an exact a ¼ sq mi of land area. 

Eagle looked at me wiping off my perspiration and can't help chuckling at me since it had not seen me being in a dilemma to make such a simple calculation because he saw that I ended up making a complex multiplication which ends up in a figure of millions...!

"That simple calculation took you more than 20 minutes to solve it. I guess you need to refresh your brains with more ale, beer or wine. Hahahaha." Eagle nudged me and everyone laughed. Even though they may not be able to read nor write but Ben could make out certain things written on the paper.

"My Lord, I think you need to attend class with Lady Heather to polish up your math problems. I guess you were distracted by the smell of the roasting boar? Hahaha." Ben joked at me as always and suddenly everyone heard an ominous sound. 

It was indeed my stomach that had just growled and not Sir Blackie's growling. What Ben had said was true, the smell of the roasting boar on the pits really make me hungry but not to lose my concentration during the calculations. 

It's just that... I don't have enough space to scribble on the paper or maybe I've become too dumb at simple mental math. Hahaha. Just then I heard old Kayla calling out to me, "My Lord, the ribs and spines are ready, do the trotters go to Sir Blackie as usual?" 

I waved my hands as I commence the feast to begin and Ben laughed at me while he withdrew some lutes, flutes and drums and those weird bamboo idiophones from the storage barns as old Kayla carved the spines and ribs and place them in a platter with the 6 felines close to her heels. 

Sir Blackie simply waited patiently for its trotters which it would be sharing with no one. Selfish little black dog. Hahaha.

During the period of 1337-1453, a terrible war broke in Medieval England and that period was called (Hundred Year's War) and a huge turmoil ensued between the England and France with the involvement of rebels as well as opportunists. 

Prince Audemars Macleod, a descendent of King Richard Macleod of Darlington had barely managed to escape with his life when the Manor he was living in was besieged by rebels in 1440, when he was just barely 18 years old.

Let us travel through time and relive the experiences of this young Prince as he was forced to 'banished' and survive with some followers they entrusted their lives with him.

Little did he realise that he was actually living in the past of his future and had no recollection of anything except when he was narrated by a Seer that had been inducted as a permanent resident of the town he founded later.

The commotion of the new semester turned into a ruckus after a few days, which had then turned into chaos in the span of the first month. That is to say, nothing had changed at all during this entire month. Being in charge of first graders on her third year as a teacher proved to be a challenge for Hee Yeon Kim, but for reasons she could only describe as &quot;complicated,&quot; she had been forced into this difficult task. To say that her experience was lacking was a gross understatement, and it was near impossible for her to manage the ruckus that the first graders were creating. As such, it became somewhat of a routine for the teachers of adjacent classrooms to intervene and suppress(?)* the children of Class 1-3. Perhaps it was thanks to that, or perhaps the children had simply grown accustomed to school after a month, but they had reached the point where they would calm down just enough for class to start. Hee Yeon had to settle for that. Nonetheless, as soon as breaktime started, the children would resume their chaotic commotion, filling the halls with their voices as Hee Yeon sat next to the window, her head in her hands in an attempt to withstand it all.

'If only they had gym class all morning long…'

But if that were the case, then she would have to be on guard, looking out for potential injuries, which would then cause even more of a psychological strain on her. In her current state of mind, however, she wished for nothing more than to escape from all the noise. When she looked up towards the classroom again, she realized that she had to say something.
&quot;Jihoon, you can't stand on the desk. You'll get hurt!&quot; She warned in her strictest tone. &quot;Heejin, don't get so close to the window! Get down from there! There, in the back! Stop running! What if you fall over?!&quot;
Even in the midst of all the chaos, she couldn't help but notice one of her students sitting quietly, in the middle of the row next to the windows. He had become the talk of the school due to his good looks, and he was the one exception in this classroom of constant cacophony. The boy was always reading. He mainly read textbooks, but sometimes would bring in children's tales from somewhere and read those. During class he would always look at her with bright eyes, listening so intently to what she said that she felt almost awkward under the pressure, but it was thanks to him that she felt proud and satisfied to be a teacher. After all, there wasn't a teacher alive who disliked diligent students.

The boy paid no mind to his teacher's rather open observation of him and just kept on reading. He was quite happy with his current lifestyle. The classes taught him new things every day, satisfying his intellectual curiosity, and every day, the knowledge he gained from his textbooks surprised him. Reading and reaching an understanding of the material in the textbooks, regardless of the curriculum, filled the boy with an almost euphoric kind of joy. This was especially true for afterschool math class, which made him feel jittery. He derived an immense sort of satisfaction with every problem he solved correctly, and as his knowledge increased, he almost felt as if he could organize his thoughts concerning his confusing circumstances.

Just as the boy was about to immerse himself in the joy of studying, someone tapped his shoulders. When he turned around, he saw that it was Jihoon. Though only a month had passed since the start of the new semester, Jihoon already stood out from the rest of the class. To put it nicely, he was a very lively child, but in reality, he was closer to a menace. He could not bring himself to sit quietly during lessons, sprinting out of the classroom to go to the restroom (and if the teacher chased after him, he would always run away with a huge smile on his face, as if he was enjoying a game of tag), and during break time, he would jump from desk to desk, like an action maniac who delighted in the thrill and excitement of dangerous activities. He was also very creative, always coming up with new ways to make the girl who sat next to him cry. All this caused the other kids to practically line up to join Jihoon in his &quot;games,&quot; and he had become infamous within the parents' SNS chatrooms. However, being the only son of a prominent family, no one could really touch him, only increasing the frustration of the victims'(?) parents and homeroom teacher.
This same Jihoon had just approached the boy, apparently nominating(?) him as the next victim, but the boy simply looked at him wide-eyed as if he didn't know what was happening. Jihoon had his back to the group of students who followed him and looked down at him. &quot;They say you look like a plaster cast,&quot; he declared arrogantly. What did that even mean? &quot;My mom saw my sister's drawing and she said it looked like you. That's what a plaster cast is. You're plaster.&quot;

The boy went blank at Jihoon's words, confused at the utter lack of context.

Jihoon was actually referring to a bit of a hot topic among parents for a brief period of time. During the entrance ceremony, the parents had discussed the boy's outstanding looks, and someone had mentioned that he looked &quot;statuesque.&quot; Following this comment, the parents of a student preparing for art school had brought up &quot;Julian,&quot; one of the plaster cast busts used as a drawing model. Of course, parents quickly fell into a typical SNS conversation, adding that their own children were just as pretty, or whose children had better looks, but it appeared that their talks of plaster casts had reached Jihoon's ears. However, being completely unaware of this whole situation, the boy sat there dumbfounded.

&quot;He's plaster face now.&quot; Said Jihoon again, almost triumphantly. At these short, nonsensical words, the students began to clap and laugh uncontrollably. Perhaps the boy's blank expression and reaction had somehow struck them as funny. Following this relatively small incident, the boy had gained the nickname &quot;plaster face,&quot; and when Myeong-su, who was in the classroom next door, found out about this, it became his nickname at the institute as well. When the teacher heard of this, she thought it was rather cute, but she was also concerned that the boy's feelings were hurt by the nickname. It wasn't uncommon for children to feel upset at nicknames they did not like and lose their spirits.

However, the boy paid no mind to it, partly because he wasn't sure whether &quot;plaster face&quot; had enough of a negative connotation to feel upset over it, and partly because he thought it was better than what they had called him back at the peasant town. They had taken to calling him &quot;scrofa**&quot; due to the fact that he scavenged in the forest all day, or just &quot;boar.&quot; Rather than being compared to a pig, covered in mud and oinking all around the place, he preferred being compared to plaster.

With the approach of summer, the weather had reached the point where the impatient few had already begun to wear short sleeves outside. Volunteer workers still visited the institute every so often, now that the tough weeds sprouting through the lawn of the yard had grown enough to injure to the children. Though they were promptly eradicated by the volunteers, the teachers still had to warn the children to not go into the grass.

&quot;We'll be off!&quot;

The elementary schoolers shouted out as they got off the institute's van, cheerfully waving to the teacher sitting in the driver's seat. Among the children walking to the gates of the elementary school were the two first graders, Myeong-su and the boy, one third grader, one fifth grader, and two sixth graders. The sixth graders were very composed within and without the boundaries of the institute, and the third and fifth graders followed their every step. True to his status as a carefree, energetic first grader, however, Myeong-su ran into the school grounds, dragging the boy by the hand. The older children did nothing to stop them. Rather, they looked wholly uninterested, their steps seemingly much heavier than those of other students. But Myeong-su was too excited to pay attention to such things, and he just kept on running with the boy, who ran along like a leashed puppy. Though it looked like the boy was forcing himself to go along with Myeong-su, he was actually having just as much fun. He had recently discovered the existence of the school library and was ecstatic at the thought of feasting upon the mighty(?) collections of books within. The fact that all the children from the institute took the van to get to school meant that the boy always arrived before his classmates. Once in the classroom, he left his bag at his seat and headed straight to the library.

&quot;You're first again.&quot; The librarian had just started to open the library, and the boy greeted her, a gleeful smile on his face. &quot;You can go right ahead.&quot;

Having been granted permission, the boy bowed once again to the librarian, who was making her way towards her desk, and ran into the library. The musty scent of the books that had collected overnight filled his nose, and it almost felt sweet to him. He chose three books to read for that day, all relatively thin. His knowledge and comprehension were still not advanced enough for him tackle thicker books, causing him to always reach for the thinner books, meant for the younger students, without caring for their content. Such books mainly came out in series, so he had made it a habit to just go through the books series by series. Though the boy might have been unaware, children's books were not necessarily limited to just biographies and fairy tales, but also included illustrated classical literature and economics, which were enough to satisfy the boy's thirst for knowledge. Thanks to this, he had been able to catch up on his past seven years of no education and quickly learned about the systems of this world, as well as the social environment he was in.

He was also able to fully concentrate on books because they provided an escape from all the sadness and despair that came from being thrown into a completely new society and lifestyle. Or rather, he had no choice but to fully concentrate on books. His memories of the past still haunted him, no matter how much time passed.

Once the teachers' morning meeting ended, Hee Yeon went back into her classroom. Her students, who once seemed like water in hot oil, now felt like powder filling up a lidless blender. Though she had no way of knowing when the blender would turn on and scatter the powder everywhere, things were under control as long as she kept a watchful eye on the switch.
Because classes had not started yet, the switch seemed to be half pressed already, though the students attempted, if only a little, to quiet down when the teacher had walked in. Only Jihoon, apparently still in hot oil rather than the blender, spoke loudly to his friend, while the rest of the students remained in their seats and murmured to each other. The children had no way of knowing that their collective murmurs let to a very loud ruckus. Only one student, called 'plaster face' by the other kids even though he looked more like a 'Julian,' paid no mind to the noise and silently read his book. After almost a full semester of knowing him, Hee Yeon thought that he was possibly in the school's top ranks when it came to concentration and attitude towards learning, and though he hadn't stood out that much at the beginning of the semester, he had started to show great improvement in writing composition and math. When the teacher in charge of the afterschool classes spoke to her about the boy, complimenting him greatly in his skills, Hee Yeon's expectations of him had grown even more. Looking at him now, reading his book, it was hard to imagine that he was from an institute.

Just then, the bell rang out, signaling the start of classes.
&quot;Well then!&quot; Announced Hee Yeon. &quot;We'll begin class. Do you know what's for first period?&quot;
&quot;Family learning!&quot;

Hee Yeon smiled despite herself. The students seemed like small birds all singing together. Then she met eyes with 'Julian.' Though she was unsure when it had started, she definitely felt that family learning classes drained her the most, especially when looking at those eyes, filled with such sorrow. The teacher of three years couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt whenever she met those eyes, and she didn't even know why.
