So... they spent 80% - 90% on civilian infrastructure... but still had the time and resources to equip 50 mechs with phasewater/ heartland tech...DESPITE turtling inside their system, heartland tech being very expensive, phasewater being uncommon/ rare... uh huh. I would believe it if 8 of them were upgraded but 50? Pfff. The Hex army with its raiding strategy should technically be 3x times stronger due to raiding, resources, tech, phasewater and not sinking costs into expeditions into the unknown.
The attack wasn't botched. It would have succeeded with limited casualties. The enemy just had the fortune of summoning a literal God which they won against.
The Larkinsons botched their attack on Ulimo Citadel. There was no doubt about that. Even if they won in the end and gained an expert pilot out of it, Melkor would have rather avoided the battle entirely.

Please tell me he dies... within the next 500 or so chapters. I was fine with him until he interrupted a duel and put to death 3 experts... Something that should have been priority #1 for hexers... heck if the hexers can assassinate experts he and the Neural master should be on a list. Plus the Hexers are dumb if they can't even use their FTL traps effectively to pull and slice at the Fridayman. They could even feign weakness to drain the state of experts and pilots. What is the point in high tech if they aren't gonna use it? They could have easily slapped the Fridaymen in the face, consolidated their resources and then spearheaded pilot-less planets. Or better yet, FTL to a system, set up the FTL slicer and cut off the planet from resources while they pelt them from afar with (MTA approved) super mech weapons leaving the enemies to have to travel into a valley of death to counter.
The madness and battlelust that affected both sides had made a profound impact on Ghanso Larkinson.

Since civilians are mainly complaining about the effect of the glows it should certainly be landbound over space. This would prevent Doom Guard glow abuse against civilians and would prevent a space arms race. It would even help technicians as it would remain aboard their vessels. This also means pirates can't circumvent Doom Guard area denial.
"Will you design a landbound variant of the mech?"

But that is how animals handle heat 😅 Many species have large ears or a large flat surface area to radiate heat away from themselves or into the ground. Fennec Foxes, elephants and desert mice for example... if it becomes too much they also take baths or mud baths. Making his mech an armadillo of armour and a master of heat is counterproductive unless the armour can flare out like scales and disperse the heat away. He is essentially trying to put on a bunch of jackets and sweaters in summer. One solution might be to add air circulation to bring in cool air and vent excess heat... but this might put undue stress on internal components although his glow and flamethrower would benefit. However, this is how fennec foxes keep cool. Giraffes use blood to vent heat to their giraffe patterns... so he might be able to use a liquid solution. Kangaroos will spit on themselves... So if he makes a Kangaroo fire mech I will laugh 😂 What is worse than a spider, a spitting Roo holding and firing a flamethrower 🤣 It would be mobile conserving energy while moving. It would be able to extinguish fire. And it would be able to shoot fire.
Thinner armor plating not only held less heat, but also transferred it faster to the vulnerable internal components of a mech.

Reading further down... it is much much less... I give up understanding the economy of this setting, as back towards the start in-house costs still netted multi-million gains, and even outsourced was multi-million gains which didn't deviate from production costs suggesting either A, the authour did not want to elaborate or B, the taxes and outsources were inside the production costs... now about 3-4 million has been tacked on after production costs... which is stupid... it is as if elements usually within the sphere of production costs have been neglected, torn out and dumped to pad the word count... it adds 5 paragraphs just to express that he is making mechs at 99p and selling for a £1 With his USP he should have priced them slightly higher even if it is for his patriotism, he still has a business to run and a slight buffer would protect his company against his own speed spending.
Some of the enthusiasm dropped from Gavin's face. "You're right, boss. It costs about 16 to 17 million bright credits to produce a Holy Soldier or Desolate Soldier. The bronze label editions sell at a list price of 20 million bright credits while the silver label editions sell for 22 million bright credits. While the profits of the latter are much more healthy, practically all of the Holy Soldiers sold in the Protectorate are bronze label versions."

With a V formation, the mobile ballistic mechs could essentially act as huge wings for the Aurora physically pulling it back and using it as a mobile shield. They would tighten their formation when energy readings spike and flare their formation when a sandman approaches. Thus shielding against lasers, and shoring up mobility and offence.
While this sounded like a welcome surprise, Ves did not expect that sales for the Aurora Titan would pick up. The mech could only withstand one or two hits at most before exhausting its reserves. For a mech that sold for at least 100 million credits a piece, the price was far too high and completely out of sync with current market circumstances!

When you step outside for milk and somehow end up fighting Krath. Oops.
Hopefully, Nectus double-checks the plants otherwise they will all be addicted to the plant essence bound to the plant until both parties die off. (I forgot what the plant is called but I vaguely remember it is either ants or aphids that swarm it due to an addiction which causes them to be unable to process other foods.)
"These ants you've found have the secret of animal husbandry! And not just of any kind. Several species of ants 'herd' aphids or caterpillars. The aphids drink plant sap and produce sweet honeydew we can eat—the thing we smelled from the inside the anthill."

"There are no rights or wrongs on the battlefield." Ves: ... So you are reconsidering killing the baby ace from earlier? Regi: No... Let me rephrase, "Only I decide what is right and wrong on the battlefield." Ves: *Speechless*
"Hah! There are no rights and wrongs on the battlefield. There are only winners and losers. History only glorifies the winners. Let us decide which of us shall serve as the stepping stone of the other today!"
