/ Games / Class-A Threat
Synopsis
Our future. Noncitizens and individuals of low social standing can only find work in one place – the virtual world of Disgardium. And that might mean mining ore; it could just as well mean cleaning pigsties or washing dishes in a tavern, but that’s about as glamorous as it gets.
Fifteen-year-old schoolboy Alex has dreams of working as a space guide. All he can think about is the stars, but life gets in the way and now his only path to achieving that goal is through the game.

Great author. His books about personal development are especially known. Writes not worse than Stephen R. Covey, but his books is much less and more simply for understanding. Would be great if Hollywood picturized his book Level Up. On staginess, such movie would not be inferior to Star Wars. Very much I recommend for reading!
The story is pretty tense and keeps the reader engaged throughout its entirety. For me the book was a solid read, and I gladly recommend it.

This story is amazing! The central theme of his novels is the impact of a mechanism (by one means or another) that allows characters to set themselves on a track of self-improvement and, crucially in my opinion, to track their progress. This creates a feedback loop enhancing, accelerating and sustaining the process and the progress it creates. It is a common theme through both the LITRPG genre and the Chinese cultivation genre. It is built on a model of improvement through struggle against exceedingly and increasingly difficult and dangerous challenges and stands in refreshing contrast to the fashionable "safe space" model. It is also a model that can be experienced by ordinary folks through game play. Such play does not make the player stronger or faster, as it is virtual, but it does really, non-virtually, create the motivational surge in the player to continue to progress. That phenomenon is it seems to me worthy of serious study as a model for learning/training that could be applied in the real world.
