Dave was a quiet man and a simple cook that worked in a local deli in a small town. One day a job opportunity comes knocking on his door which could be his ticket out of his simple and mundane life in his town. But things take a wrong turn when the job that he was so excited about turns out to be a trick played by supernatural forces to make him agree to play a game…

Tricked and then kidnapped from normal life he is forced to play a part in a deadly marathon called the Race to the Top for the entertainment of the Gods. The rules of the Marathon were pretty simple, players chosen by the gods would be sent to another dimension comprising of 9 different worlds or floors. And the first one to cross the 9th floor successfully wins the game.

Thrown into a world of magic and swords naive Dave constantly struggles to keep living and also witnesses a lot of atrocities committed just for the sake of entertainment of the so-called ‘Gods’. There are monstrous beasts in these worlds that could kill him with a flick of their paws while the locals of the world are all scheming and cunning bastards that wouldn't think twice before stabbing him in the back.

Now armed with a system that could improve his overall stats as well as an inventory with limited face, he decided to fight off all of his adversaries head-on. Now all that is left to see is whether he would be able to make it to the Top.
