Synopsis

With the advent of steam power, mankind has advanced and ushered in the industrial revolution. This is the age of steam locomotives, automatons, guns, and cannons, as well as curses, magic, artifacts, and the occult.

Hidden in the shadows are a group of extraordinary people who wield enormous power and strange abilities that normal people cannot even begin to comprehend. They are known as Transcendents!

Bryan, a wily thief with a penchant for mischief, lost his parents at a very young age and was forced to live on the streets. That is until his whole life turned around when he was shown the Path to becoming a Transcendent.

The Theft Path specializes in deceit and illusions. It can steal everything under the heavens. Even the powers, thoughts, and lives of others.

Follow Bryan on his journey through this dangerous and treacherous world as he steals from gods and robs the mortals.

This is the story of The Deceitful One.

***

My novel has a steampunk world setting, so expect a lot of steam-powered technology as well as retro-looking futuristic inventions. Furthermore, there will be churches, secret organizations, and cults. So if you're a fan of LotM—which I have taken inspiration from btw—you will definitely like my novel. Also, this is my first attempt at writing a novel so you might find some mistakes here and there. Just know that I'm constantly trying to improve. Cheers!

As the author of this novel, I would give it 100 stars if I could. Unfortunately, I can't. Sigh, it's easy to be shameless but tough to be a writer. Anyways, let me tell you guys a few things about my novel. -What is this novel about? It is about an orphan named Bryan who embarks on the Path of a Transcendent. The story is set in a steampunk world with churches and secret organizations. -Can you describe Bryan? Growing up on the streets, he has mastered the art of theft to survive and fill his stomach. Bryan is a very mischievous person who loves to prank others. But he is also very crafty and quick-witted. -What is a Transcendent? They are a group of extraordinary people who wield enormous power and strange abilities. They embark on different Paths and gain different abilities. -Is Bryan overpowered? NO! Bryan is not a gigachad. He starts off weak but gradually becomes overpowered as he embarks on a unique Path. -Will there be NSFW scenes? Yes, there will be violence and gore. There will also be a few dirty scenes but not too many. -Will there be romance? Uhmmm, not sure. Not anytime soon at least. Perhaps somewhere down the line, Bryan will get married and start a family. We'll see what happens. NO HAREM. Finally, this is my heartfelt request to all the readers. The novel starts off slow and is very detailed. But things start getting super interesting from chapter 20 onwards. Therefore, I hope you can believe in me and continue to support me.

I absolutely love a steam punk world setting. And if you add a bit of thievery, mystical and many other great aspects into to it you get the amazing mix of awesomeness and suspenseful moments, called The Deceitful One. The pacing is really good and there aren't any gigantic info-dumps that leaves you mentally exhausted, which makes for a really nice reading experience. The author is also really active in the comments and actually responds to feedback that is given. Sometimes you can also find some awesome images in the comments that the author publishes which depict the area or the person that the paragraph is describing. This allows us readers to better visualize the environment and the people of the book, which for me is huge plus! So go ahead and give this one a chance, you won't regret it

To be honest I was suprised when I found this amazing novel. I thought tis is a fanfic of LOTM. But when I start to read it I realized this is similar but an original work and I instatly hooked to this novel. Awsome work author and do hope that you will continue this novel. ✌️✌️

It's an interesting take in the LOTM "genre", does a good job o humanizing the M.C and making him less mysterious to the readers. It's a bit of a pity that the paths don't have cooler names tho (Path names are very representative of what they do, there's little mystery. Ex: Strenght path, Fire path, Water path, Blood path, Ilusion Path, Death path, etc...) and apparently transcedent ranks don't have their own monikers too, it was always fun to discover new trandescent path names in LOTM... For those with shorter attention spans, good novel, lacks cooler and more mysterious path names.

So far it's giving a lot of LoM vibes but the author did say that anyway. I hope it doesn't turn out to be very similar to LoM and takes a different direction concerning the more powerful transcendent. The teacher is giving me BIG Dunn Smith vibes, so he's probably going to die, hope not though. So far it looks good, keep up the good work Author!

I'm still on chapter 6, but I'm already finding it very good, very similar to LOTM, which I miss, I prefer novels like this one as a slice of life, to have a lot of details.

An amazing piece of art and masterpiece! I got to say I'm impressed with the author's writings. Pacing and storyline is one of its best features. Though it was slow for me but a great work nonetheless! Kudos! Keep it up! [img=recommend]

The story is well thought out and the grammar is clean, neat and well written. I also enjoyed the plot of the story as well, very smooth and understandable. I know it starts a bit grey due to the MC's past but reading through the thoughts of the mc, Bryan, it's a bit funny too. Just from reading a few chapters I was able to visualize what was happening like a movie. I enjoyed the immersive nature of the story. And the situations made sense, heck, I would say they were kind of realistic. A very good story with a lot of potential overall.

Although only around 200 chapters have been released yet, it is definitely my favorite novel. The only request is that the author increase the chapter release frequency.

Shameless Mc poor Leah.. this book haha. In all honesty, I believe the author put a lot of effort and love into this book. I usually hate anything beyond the 1900s but I enjoy this book so far. if ur looking for a completely dumb Mc, turn away from here!

first of all the writing quality is good and the flow of the story is to my liking. usually i don't like too much paced story as it might lose base so yeah that's a plus too as the time has given for story development. so overall it is a good novel to read.

The writing is fantastic, and the imagery is superb. I don't typically give out 5 stars, but this novel deserves it! My only gripe is that the paragraphs are a bit on the bulkier side when considering the standards set by Webnovel. That aside, the read was incredibly entertaining, especially with how authentic the dialogue is. A rare achievement for many novels to claim for sure!
