The Refugees of Revolution

Their home, lost. Their lives from before, all but forgotten. All they have left is each other, and maybe, just maybe, hope.

Alex and Dimitri flee the fires of revolution and civil war searching for a new start or at least an escape from those that seem to hunt them. Together they will journey the length of the country, to a land within their own. A land as foreign as it is timeless, as vast as it is empty, and the birthplace of ancient conquerors at the far flung ends of an empire. Yet even as they run, the flames of war follow them, proceeded them even at times. It will take all their wits and courage to survive.


Wring this story I had an image of people jumping onto a moving armored train while being chased by Cossack cavalry in a vast, empty landscape. I wanted to write about a story behind the mental image I had. This story is inspired by history, primarily that of the Russian revolution and civil war in the east. While there will be similarities I do not intend to have this be the same as our world and our history in order to allow for some degree of freedom in my writing and plot. While I will try to do my research I apologize for any cultural or historical inconsistencies as I am neither a proper historian nor of Russian heritage. I pretty much just took a Russian history class and read a book on Roman von Ungern-Sternberg.
