Berlsiac is a quaint kingdom in the world of Greastaurus famous for its star witches. What many outside of the kingdom do not know of is the many underground businesses that are conducted there. One of which is the Coven Pets.

The Coven Pets were founded by Therese Laraing, a famous witch known for being the founder of Sterling Academy, the breeding ground of many talented witches who have gone on to contribute greatly to society. The Coven Pets are street children found and picked up to be groomed and tortured so as to be shaped into perfect weapons for auction. Therese Laraing sells these girls to all types of people to be most commonly used as bodyguards and playthings.

June Delta was one of many of the Coven Pets. Abandoned at birth, these young witchlings were tortured and altered to become the perfect playthings. June, like any other Coven pet was finally due for auction. But what happens when a mysterious stroke of lightning hits the carriage June was in, changing her fate forever? A Coven is a name used to describe a gathering of witches. A coven is generally a group of twelve or more witches who occasionally meet to practice magic, celebrate sacred holidays, and discuss topics on witchcraft. As shown on several occasions, covens seem to always have both a leader and followers.

In New Orleans, there are at least nine covens, all of which have detailed rules of conduct and a complex structure. All members of each of the nine New Orleans covens follow a leader known as the Regent. Together, the nine covens are a collective community that has Elders who guide them, and each coven individually has its own structure and different types of magic that they practice (such as Sacrificial Magic, Necromancy, etc) as well. However, they all appear to share their common form of witchcraft, Ancestral Magic, which they practice by drawing upon the magical power of the Ancestors.

To earn the title of an Elder, a witch must have the power bestowed upon them by another Elder, or, in the case where there are no Elders to pass on the power, the witch in question must be able to consecrate the mortal remains of a powerful witch; this fail-safe was demonstrated by the witch Sophie Deveraux, who became an Elder of the French Quarter Coven after consecrating the remains of Esther Mikaelson.

Throughout The Vampire Diaries Series

In Graduation, Bonnie Bennett, with the intention of completing the Expression Triangle for the immortal Silas, asked her mother, Abby Bennett Wilson, for help in contacting twelve witches to "cleanse" her of Expression magic. Aja, a former friend of Abby, met with Bonnie in the place she requested, along with the other eleven witches in her coven. When Bonnie looked apprehensive, Aja assured her that she and her coven had experience in dealing with witches consumed by Expression. When the members of the coven all linked themselves to Aja to give her the additional strength she needed to overpower Bonnie to strip away her Expression magic, Caroline Forbes, who refused to stand by and watch them kill her best friend, killed Aja by stabbing her, which in turn killed every witch who was linked to her. Aja, along with her coven, returned to the world of the living to take revenge against Caroline and her friends for being complicit in their murders. Since the Veil between the Other Side and the living world was temporarily lowered by Bonnie's spell, Aja and her coven were able to use their magic to cast Pain Infliction spells on Caroline, Stefan Salvatore, and Elena Gilbert at their Graduation Ceremony. However, Niklaus appeared and killed Aja by decapitating her with a graduation cap, effectively scaring away the rest of the witches and preventing them from doing further harm.

Markos and the Travelers
In I Know What You Did Last Summer, a group of cursed witches called the Travelers were introduced. Because of their predilection for performing their magic in groups as a result of the ancient curse placed upon their people two thousand years earlier, the Travelers could be considered a very large coven.

The Gemini Coven
In Yellow Ledbetter, the Gemini Coven is introduced in the series. It was later explained that the coven was extremely old, since they were believed to have been the group of witches who cursed the Travelers in 100 BCE. The Gemini Coven also has a specific ritual for choosing their leaders known as The Merge ceremony. In this ceremony, when a set of twins in the coven reaches the age of 22, the two twins perform the Merge during a celestial event, during which the stronger twin essentially kills the weaker twin in order to absorb their magical powers and certain personality traits, doubling their strength in the process. Once the ritual is complete, the stronger twin then becomes the leader of the coven, to whom the collective power of the coven is linked. This connective magic benefits the coven by making them all stronger, but it does come at a cost—the lives of everyone in the coven are bound to the life of their leader, which would mean that the leader's death would cause the entirety of the coven to be killed along with them. This requires the coven to have a Merge ceremony regularly in order to ensure that there will be a new leader before the previous one can die or be killed. At the introduction of the Gemini Coven to the series, the leader was Joshua Parker, who was meant to be succeeded by one of his eldest twins, Malachai or Josette Parker. However, due to several factors (namely, Malachai's mental instability and his unique ability to absorb the magic of other witches without the capability to possess his own, which led his parents to call him an "abomination"), Joshua and his wife determined that Malachai was unfit to lead the coven and decided to keep having more children until they had another set of twins to replace them. Eventually, they succeeded, and Olivia Parker and Lucas Parker were born solely with the intention of taking Joshua's place as coven leader instead. Unfortunately, despite Joshua's best efforts, Malachai ended up performing the Merge ceremony anyway in 2013, during which he overpowered and killed his brother Luke. Because he "won" the Merge, he not only absorbed Lucas' magical strength and his ability to generate his own magic (which, as a Siphoner, Malachai did not possess naturally), he also gained his brother's ability to be empathetic and remorseful upon his ascension as coven leader. The Gemini Coven ended up meeting its end several months later at the wedding of his twin sister Josette and her intended husband, Alaric Saltzman. Before the couple could finish their vows, Malachai killed Josette and her unborn twins and attacked the rest of the party attendants before stabbing himself in the throat with a shard of glass and killing himself. Though he had been given vampire blood from Lily Salvatore and reawakened as a witch/vampire hybrid, his death caused the rest of the coven's members to die as well, including his father Joshua and sister Olivia. After Malachai was killed by Damon Salvatore later that evening, his death marked the end of the modern-day generation of the Gemini Coven for good.

Throughout The Originals Series

French Quarter Coven
In Always and Forever, the French Quarter Coven is introduced, a community of witches in the French Quarter who practice Ancestral Magic. It is assumed that the coven has existed for quite a long time, due to their tradition of the Harvest, a ritual that the ancestral witches perform every three hundred years in order to strengthen the link they have to their Ancestors, on whom they draw for strength. Members of the coven, led by Sophie Deveraux, manipulate the newly-returned Original Vampires Niklaus and Elijah Mikaelson into helping them overthrow the vampire leader Marcel Gerard, who had been holding the witches in subjugation and forbidding them to practice magic.

Algiers Coven
In City Beneath The Sea, it was revealed that there are actually nine major covens in New Orleans, including the Tremé Coven, the Algiers Coven, the Ninth Ward Coven, and the Garden District Coven. It is insinuated that at least some of these covens also practice Ancestral Magic, though it's likely they also practice other forms of magic as well. A former witch of the Tremé Coven, Eva Sinclair, intended to complete a ritual known as the Rite of Nines that involved channeling and eventually sacrificing one witch from each of the nine covens in New Orleans in order to create a "new witch order" in the city. It was believed that had Eva been successful in completing the ritual, she would have been more powerful than any Elder or Harvest Girl. After the death of the Regent of the nine New Orleans covens, Josephine LaRue, the Elders attempted to recruit former Tremé Coven member Vincent Griffith to replace her. However, Vincent's reluctance to return to the drama of the supernatural community in New Orleans led him to suggest that Davina Claire be named Regent instead, and after some convincing on both of their parts, Davina was officially given the title of Regent, and, as such, was made the conduit to the will of the Ancestors.

Ninth Ward Coven
In For the Next Millennium, Davina gathers the Elders of the nine covens of New Orleans to decide the guidelines to be followed, namely a truce in the feud between vampires and witches. The witches who belong to the Ninth Ward Coven cause friction in the witch community, because they do not trust Davina as a leader, as they consider her a vampire sympathizer. One of the Elder of the Ninth Ward Coven, Kara Nguyen, even physically attacked Davina with a spell during a meeting in Lafayette Cemetery and she paid the price with her life. In Behind the Black Horizon, Lucien mentioned that he got a coven of witches to reverse-engineer Esther's Immortality Spell.

Structure

New Orleans is the city with the largest number of covens, which are well structured and differentiated compared to other covens or groups shown so far. While small coven, generally family-run, refer to a leader or Elder, in New Orleans, witch covens are hierarchical according to a well-defined pattern:

Regent: Chief witch of all nine covens of New Orleans, sovereign of the witch community and acting as an emissary to the Ancestors. This role is not hereditary, but elective by mutual agreement among the Elders based on the candidate's leadership skills and needs of the community.
Elder: Every coven has at least a couple of Elder witches who act as guides and priests of the individual coven, as well as dealing with internal problems of the coven concerned.

Harvest Witch: Every 300 years, four young witches known as "Harvest Witches" are chosen from the French Quarter Coven to be the forefront of the Harvest Ritual, a ceremony that according to Vincent Griffith can be performed only by Elders from the French Quarter Coven. Upon completion of the ritual, a Harvest Witch gains the favor of the Ancestors and is revered by the community to be trained as future leaders.

Witch Community: The families belonging to the same coven act as members of one big family, so there's the French Quarter witches, the Tremé witches, the Versailles witches and so on. Typically each coven manages its business in a certain part of the city, respecting the borders established by the division into districts, but some matters require to collaborate, so the Elders of each coven meet with the Regent to discuss policies to be implemented, especially when it is required to interact with other factions; humans, vampires, and werewolves, respectively.

Traditions and Policies

A coven acts as a large organization or an extended family, offering support and protection to its members, but it's also administered by strict rules of conduct that lead to severe punishment those who transgress the rules, especially among New Orleans covens.

Sometimes it is possible that within the same coven there are factions with different agenda. This may be caused by personal motivations and beliefs, feuds or personal gain. However, one of the tasks of Elders and Regent is to keep peace among the witch community members. A conspiracy against superior ranks can lead to hanging, as stated by the witch Davina Claire and the questioning of the value of the Ancestors as well as plotting against witches leads to a gruesome death, usually bleeding caused by magical means.

The most terrible punishment that a witch can undergo is to be shunned via a ritual that is implemented only in severe circumstances when a witch is guilty of serious crimes, such as plotting the killing of other witches. When the guilty witch also happens to be Regent, the witch is forced to renounce the leadership role. Since the shunned witch is cast out from the witch community, it's possible the same rule applies to the Elders as well.

For New Orleans witches who suffer from mental issues or are guilty of the crime of practicing dark or forbidden magic, the sentence is to be locked in the Fauline Asylum, where they are constantly sedated in order to suppress their magical power.

Since the witches of New Orleans draw on a common source of Ancestral Magic, every three hundred years the Ancestors demand the sacrifice of four young witches to reestablish the connection between living and dead witches of the Crescent City. The task of completing the Harvest Ritual is up to the Elders of the French Quarter Coven, or another sufficiently powerful witch in case there are no living elders and the sacrifice must be accepted by the Ancestors, or, in the case of the re-connection of the Ancestral Plane, through the intercession of an Ancestral French Quarter Witch spirit, i.e. Davina Claire. To fuel the pool of Ancestral power, it is a tradition among the witches of New Orleans to consecrate their dead, sending the magical energy to the Ancestral Plane, where the Ancestors watch over their descendants.


A tradition that belongs only to the Gemini Coven, a coven located in Portland, Oregon, was to elect their leader through a deadly ritual, known as The Merge, where the twin children of the current leader would merge their magic and the stronger twin would absorb the magic from the weaker twin, as well as character traits, gaining full leadership of the coven from the previous leader.

The word "coven" was originally a late medieval Scots word (circa 1500) meaning a gathering of any kind according to the Oxford English Dictionary. It derives from the Latin root word "convenire" meaning "to come together" or "to gather", which also gave rise to the English word convene. In modern English, the word "coven" has as its primary meaning "a gathering of witches", more rarely of vampires (who usually go by the name of clan).

College professor Sheila Bennett and Dr. Jonas Martin mentioned that the Bennett Family comes from Salem, Massachusetts. Salem is well known for their history of persecuting witches, including the Salem Witch Trials.

Traditionally, there are thirteen witches in a coven: one leader, and twelve members.

The term "coven" was originally created to give a name to a group of witches, but at present, the term is also used for a group of vampires, as well as "clan" and "den."

If the leader of the Gemini Coven dies, the rest of the members die as well.

It is confirmed there are nine covens in New Orleans.

According to what was suggested by Vincent in City Beneath The Sea, though each of the nine covens of New Orleans practice Ancestral Magic, each of the covens also have other different forms of witchcraft that they practice based on the kind of magic practiced by their ancestors, such as Sacrificial Magic, Representational Magic, Voodoo, Hoodoo, Necromancy, etc. This was confirmed by Vincent after he convinced Davina to become Regent, when he explained to her that her connection to all of the Ancestors of all nine covens would allow her to draw on the different forms of magic that they practiced during their lives, including Necromancy, which would give her the power to bring her boyfriend Kol Mikaelson back from the dead.

The covens of New Orleans are headed by a single witch, known as Regent, who is the voice and the will of the Ancestors and has access to the totality of the power of all of the Ancestors from each of the nine covens.

This role, until spring 2013, had been covered by Josephine LaRue. After her death, the Elders of the nine covens wanted to elect Vincent Griffith to replace her, but since he was uninterested in the role, he nominated Davina Claire to take the position instead.

Davina was officially given the title of Regent in Fire with Fire, after she convinced the Elders that she would help them stand strong against the vampires.

Both her and the Regent that followed her, Vincent, were shunned. The last Regent, Van Nguyen was murdered by Kol Mikaelson. After his death, a new Regent has not been named, though the witches look to Vincent as a 'Leader' despite his prior rejection from the Ancestors and his part he played in breaking the Ancestors' link to the mortal plane.

As they walk downstairs they come in front of a wall, the dark witch leader runs her hand through the walls looking for something that helps them to get inside the secret room. Finally, after some time, she manages to find that brick and push it, and the walls move away and give them the way to get inside the room. 

The room was dark when they get inside the room. Their, leader snaps her finger, and the room light up, with the candles flying around the room. They look around the room but didn't find any single dark shadow witches coven. 

"There is nothing here? Are you sure, leader, that the spiritual moon whiches had kept them here?" Molly, one of the dark witch's asks her leader. 

"Yes, I think they were here otherwise the water in the pound wouldn't be so powerful to make her energetic and take away all of her exhaustion," their leader said to them. 

"Do you think; the white witches got here before us, and take the shadow coven witches and warlocks, somewhere as? " one of the dark witches asks their leader. 

"I don't think so, I don't sense any kind of positive energy here, and I don't think they would know what we are thinking or planning to do by spying on us, because if they had, I would have found out about it," their leader said to them. 

"Then what do you think, happens here?" another dark witch asks their leader. 

"Maybe when a fight between shadow coven witches and spiritual moon coven witches happen, an of the strongest dark witches or warlocks drop of the blood has fallen in the pound, that's why it still contains some dark energy? What do you think leader?" Mara asks her leader. 

"I think you are right," their leader said to them. 

"But, unfortunately, the whole pound of dry now, so it was useless now," their leader said with a sign. 

"Don't worry, leader, I have stored some of it in a bottle, just in case before informing you about it to you all, it was enough for the spell and portion to help us, finding them," Bellasitic said to her leader. 

"You did?" their leader asks her. Ballistic nodded her head at her and take the small bottle out of her cloak and, handed it over to her leader. 

"Good, let's go now," their leader said to them and, they all walk out of the room. They close the door and teleport themself to the castle. They added five drops of water that they found in the pound in a potion and cool it down for some time. Then, they sprinkle the potion on a black crow while murmuring a spell and, flew him away, after attaching a tracking device on his leg. 

After 4 days, the dark witch who was keeping an eye on a crow, come and inform them that they finally found the location of the shadow coven witches and they do some preparation and leave to find him. Peter who was watching and listening on a nearby tree in the castle leaves to inform Nikki about it. 

Nikki was brushing her hair and was about the walk out of her room when she heard someone peeking at her window, she opens the window to and Peter fly towards her and lands on her should, then tells her everything that happens in the castle. 

 "What? But how is it possible, we made sure that they didn't able to find anything that helps them find their location," Nikki asks herself, and then rush down to inform others about it. 

"Emma, the dark witches found out about their shadow coven location," Nikki said when she walks inside the living room. 

"What? but how? I thought we have covered all their traces, while we were there," Nathali said to no one particular. 

"We dwell about it, later, right now we have dark witches to stop, let's go," Emma said and teleport everyone to the amazon forest. 

"Everyone surrounds every corner of the cave," Emma said and everyone follows her instruction. 

"Casse and Izzy, you guy go to the Simba forest and investigate and find out how they found out shadow coven witches location, and take few others with you too," Emma said to the two strong and old witches, they nodded their head at her and teleport themselves in the Simba forest. 

After some time, they feel the presence of the dark witches near them and heard the alarm goes off, signaling that they are not too far away from them. 

"Take your position and be ready to attack, as soon as they step in the barrier we will attack them," Emma said and prepare a fireball in her hand to throw at them. 

"We have followed it many times and it always stops here," they heard one of the dark witches said to their leader. 

"But we can able to see and sense any dark present here," they heard another witch said to their leader. 

"That is because they have putten the invisible wall here and cover the shadow coven members presences so that no one can find them," they heard the dark witches leader said to them and Emma give them the signal to get ready to attack them. 

 

As soon as, the dark witches murmur to spell to remove the invisible wall, Emma and others attack them with spells taking them by surprise, but thanks to their fast reflection dark witches able to save themself. 

Nikki use her earth power and made the trees grab the dark witches and killed them by snapping their neck or showing a branch into their hearts, but they were smart as soon as the tree branches grab them, they burn them or somehow able to slip throw the branches before Nikki able to do something to stop them. 

 Nikki curse under her breath and use her mind power to go inside their mind and kill them while inflating to much much pain in their head. After some time, the dark witches who have gone to the Simba forest comes back and start attacking the dark witches. 

Seeing that they are outnumbered by them, the dark witches decided to retreat since they have lost almost 1/4 of their people and can't afford any more casualties. Nikki was about to follow them but Emma stops her. 

"You have lost too much energy, by using mind-controlling power, you push yourself, even more, you will pass out due to exhaustion, and it will only make their work even easier to get you," Emma explains to her when Nikki look at her with a questioning look. 

"So, what do we do then, they had already found about shadow coven member locations and after finding us waiting for them only confirm their location," Nikki asks her. 

"It's time, we call everyone and prepare to attack them, and complete this chapter for once and for all," Emma said to her. 

"Are you sure about it?" Maya one of the older witches, asks her. 

"Our training is almost over, we already know about their location, they are injured and outnumbered, so if we attack them now, it will become easy for us to win this war with fewer casualties, " Emma said to them. 

"Sia, I want you to mind link the alphas and vampire coven leaders and tell them to gather at my mansion for the meeting with their warriors," Emma said to her, she nodded her head at her and do as told by her. 

"And what about, shadow coven witches, we can't leave them unguarded, " Nikki asks her. 

"The protection spell which we have cast here is still intact, to keep them away from shadow coven members. and I don't think they will come after them for two tree days because they were still recovering from the injuries, and before they can fully heal and come here, we would have already killed them," with that said Emma teleports everyone back to the mansion.

Of course, little old me at the time didn't know the war was going to end soon. All I did know was that the witches were losing. I got tired of waiting for the war to end. If the war was truly going to end, I'd rather it be the witches, not the warlocks. To me, in this war, there were two sides. One side I knew well because not only was one of them, but I had many friends and family who were dying for this cause. On the other side, a group of people I've never met who want till us, who have killed my friends and family. Who has destroyed my childhood by slicing off the Queen's head and declaring war. It's obvious I was gonna fight for the witches, but to my coven, it was not.
In one of the few remaining coven houses not completely involved in the war. My coven didn't swear loyalty to the Royal Coven Witch before her head was chopped off, so we weren't forced to join the war and thanks to marriages with other species. We were allowed to remain neutral throughout the war; warlocks and witches didn't purposely attack us. 
That also didn't mean witches from my coven couldn't leave and join the war. Which many did, and now we only had me, my sister, my mother, who was now an elder, my father, who was now extremely old in human years and pretty much had on foot in the grave already.  My baby brother who was a 40-year-old human male now with his own family and a few coven elders, that's it. Even with the local human town my father and brother stayed at, we still had less than a hundred people in the area. Not to mention my 25+ coven was now just 8.
This war took a toll on everyone. While I was tired of missing all the action, I ran away one night to join my friends in the war. It was just supposed to be a one-night thing. I run in, kill someone, run out, done. 
Now you might be wondering. Why would I person who said she is going to fight for the witches in the war. Only do a one-night gig. Well, I'll tell you why it's because of my coven and my family. I was still part of the coven, and unless I quit the coven. Which I won't because of my family. Then any action I took right now would look like my coven was involved in the war. That means we would no longer remain natural, which would put my family. The people I care the most about in danger, so incognito, I go for one-night gigs. Being a rebel for the cause while secretly giving a middle finger to my parents to making us neutral and the warlocks who started this all. I mean, seriously, why is this even up for debate. They clearly started it by declaring war after chopping off the Queen's head. Although my coven wasn't a big fan of the Queen either, we didn't want her dead and started a war either.

The 100 year battle between Witches and Warlocks has finally ended. The result is that the warlocks won. Almost all witches are gone now. The last remaining witch now lives in a log cabin only found deep in the snowy mountain border between shifter country and what use to be witch country. 

There lived a 20 something year old woman, who had just gotten use to living alone. Till 5 smoking hot burly men coming busting, not only into her cabin but also into her life. Demanding she not only mate them all but also have their babies. 

Sadly for our young witch, these 5 shifter males are the least of her worries. Since her biggest problem is keeping the secret that she is pregnant with the warlock king's twins. Add to the fact she's pretty sure one of the twins is a girl and that the warlock king is out to kill her. Let's hope she can solve all her problems before the babies come.

"True form of magic?" It was too much for me to understand and remember. I was starting to mix things. Earlier, I wished about obtaining the answers, now all I could wish about was comprehending them.
"There are different forms of magic. True form is the kind of magic which comes from within and the nature around us. But Andromalius, he offered them to learn dark magic which is also known as the devilcraft. The witches who begin practicing the devilcraft were more powerful than the witches who relied on natural forms of magic. As more number of witches joined Andromalius, the latter came to know about this and stripped them completely of their powers. They were doomed to spend the rest of their lives without their magic. This created a conflict between the practitioners of the devilcraft and the witchcraft."
"For so long witches tried to find the reason as to why the others started practicing the devilcraft. And when they came to know about Andromalius, they tried to kill him. But demons cannot be killed, they can only be exorcised back to hell. And it is not easy to exorcise a higher ranked demon like that. But with a lot of research and practice, your mother finally found a way to get rid of him."
"She made a blood pact with Andromalius. According to the pact, Andromalius gets to channel your mother's magic and the magic of her coven, and in return he would release the other witches from the clutches of the devilcraft. Since they were channeling each other, Sasha could also channel his powers. He agreed to it, because your mother came from a very powerful coven of witches known as the Potens coven. After the pact was made, between Andromalius and your mother, the witches were released and were free to walk back to their previous practices."
"Then. . .What happened to my mother and her coven?'
"A week after that, your mother stripped herself of her own powers which in turn took away all the powers of Andromalius too. In that instance, he became vulnerable, providing witches an opportunity to exorcise him back to hell, where he belonged."
"But how come he lost his powers?"
"When two witches are channeling each other, they can use each other's privileges. But if one of them loses their power, the same would happen to the other. It applies to witches and demons too. Since Sasha and Andromalius made a blood pact and channeled each other's powers. So when Sasha gave up her powers, Andromalius became ineffective too." He explained. 
"What happened to her after that?"
"After banishing him, Sasha stopped practicing witchcraft and left the coven to lead a normal life. She never returned. Nobody heard from her after that incident and everyone moved on with their lives." His forehead creased and he put a hand around his temples. "Until nine years later, I came to know that she died in a car accident." His voice was softer now.
"Yes. I was nine at the time my parents died."
"You were with them?" He removed his hand from his face and he sounded baffled.
"We were returning home and I was asleep in the backseat. Then suddenly, out of nowhere, I end up on the bridge and the car falls off the bridge. --- I have vague memories from the accident but all I could remember, was watching the car fall into the river. I don't remember anything after that."
As soon as the statement left my mouth, Finn started pacing around the room swiftly before finally stopping and bamming his fist on the table. The candles shook along with the table. "I knew . . . I knew all along that something was fishy. It was definitely done by those bastards" His yelled and his fist landed on the table once again causing me to shudder with the sudden loud sound.
Confused since the beginning, I asked in a low voice, "What do you mean? Do you think demons were behind this?"
"Of course they were the demons. Andromalius must have sent them to take revenge on your mother. Why else do you think you don't remember anything! They must have wiped your memories." He shouted.
He must be right. Why else can I not recall a single thing from that accident? I felt my stomach lurch and my blood turn cold. There was trouble since the beginning. But I was unaware of how deep-rooted it was. I felt helpless and clueless, the way I felt seven years ago when my parents died. It was too much to understand. Too much to bear. And too much to keep going through. How did I end up here? I thought to myself.
"Was my dad a witch too?" I asked, my voice almost breaking.
"I don't know about that. But I am sure he was not a witch. Sasha wanted a normal life after losing her magic. She never wanted to return so she cut all ties with her coven and family. Your dad must be a human she met later in her life." He explained.
"What happened after the accident? Do you live with foster parents now?" He asked. His voice held concern.
"No. My mother's friend Grace. . . she adopted me. I have been living with her since then." I answered, wiping a tear that was about to fall out of my eye. "Do you know her?"
"I have never heard of her. Maybe she became friends with Sasha after she left the coven." He answered, staring into nothing. None of us spoke for a few minutes and the silence embraced the room, sending both of us into our own trail of thoughts.
"Anyways --- The demons who wanted to kill you in the alley that night were sent by Andromalius." Finn said, breaking the silence.
"But why are they doing this? What do they want from me?" I almost shouted. The pain and the fear I have felt was turning into vexation and I could feel myself fuming up.
"Don't forget you carry the same blood as your mother. You are apart of the Potens coven. Andromalius won't rest until he kills each and every member of the Potens coven." His words again made me shiver.
"You mean I am the only person alive from the Potens coven." I held the sides of the chair tighter as I felt the fear terrorize me. Everyone else from the coven was dead. I was the only person alive.

["Nice bracelet." He traced a finger on the bracelet, momentarily touching my skin. The hair on my skin rose and I shuddered under his touch. I immediately drew my hand back. "It looks good on you .... Katherine." He complimented and his enchanting gaze seemed to bewitch me.

"Thankyou" I said, without even giving it a second thought. Immediately I wanted to take that 'thankyou' back. Thank you? Of all the things I could have said, "thankyou" was the worst. I didn't want Lucas thinking that I liked his compliment. It didn't take much thinking to realize that he was trouble, and I had enough trouble looming, no need to invite more.

"And I prefer Kat." I corrected, realizing that he had called me Katherine earlier.

"Why not Katherine?" His gaze looked appraising.

"Cause it's boring." I answered and turned towards the chalkboard.

"I think it's beautiful." His reply caught me off guard and I turned sideways, he was still staring at me intently, with those dazzling charcoal grey eyes.]

[He shifted in his seat and his eyes met mine. "I believe there's always more to everything than it meets the eye." He was inclining towards me now. "Do you not believe in witches?" 

"I don't. . ." I lied. "They only exists in folklores and myths." I added to make my lie more convincing. 

I noticed his lips turn into a smile but it faded away the second he looked at me. 

"Are you sure?" He raised an eyebrow. "Do things out of blue not elevate your curiousity?" 

"They do." I replied. In fact, everything happening lately had my curiosity skyrocketed. 

"And have you ever tried to find answers to those questions? If you do find the answers. . ." He leaned in closer. "I bet you won't be disappointed." He was unnecessarily close, his husky voice went straight into my ears. 

He shifted back in his seat and put his hands behind his head. There was a smirk plastered on his lips and for some reasons I had a feeling that he had challenged me to some mysterious quest.]
