I'm poor and have no real future, and mother and girlfriend are suffering. Better write a poem. I've offended a bunch of gangster and I know their secret hideout. Should i tell the authorities? Nah, better write a poem. This person has tried to kill me twice, but failed. He'll surely stop now. Better write a poem just to be sure. Powerful men hate me, just set an ambush in the wilderness and killed all my companions. I'm stuck and all alone. But surely now that they've failed at killing me, and now know that I'm good at fighting they'll just give up. I should take this time to drink some wine and write a poem ^that is basically the gist of everything I've read in about 70 chapters

Sooooooooo boring, sooooooooo slow paced, this is supposed to be a journey to immortality? What a joke, most dull, mundane novel i've ever read.

First off, this is not your average, everyday xianxia. Second, if you don't like 'slow' pacing (As deemed by the public due to the fact that he starts cultivation later on, despite the story itself being quite nicely paced), then I recommend that you skip this novel. (Although if you give it a try and find that the progression is indeed, not slow, but, quite fast/ moderate, you'll enjoy it quite a bit.) As a (non) English-expert, I personally have nothing to say and do not meet my self-requirements for critiquing the quality/ update stability. Also, as a (non) English-expert, I don't have any right to critique anything so... Take this for a grain of salt. Story Development: The story development, although perhaps a bit biased (Plot-armour), is beautiful. One thing that contributes to this is how the 'system' of the flower gives tasks that the MC is basically forced to do (Although in reality, the MC figures out what he should do, by which the task then becomes revealed; thus, every 'quest' is partly/ mostly his own thought). Another thing that contributes to this is how the story clearly explains every plot, plan, murder, and so forth. Character design: The MC is shown to be able to think for himself in multiple situations, having to adapt to the schemes of his enemies, make schemes of his own and so forth; It is because of this, that we gain constant insight into how his mind works, ****** the fleshing out of his personality concise. Other characters are (Of course), not as well-fleshed out as the MC; however, we still gain some insight into their personalities. World Building: The one thing that I feel (Kind~of) let the story down. Yes, the story does a fantastic job of the tip -"Show, don't tell"-; however, due to this, some details are skimmed over... It still does a fantastic job however, showing the different levels of officials, the difference in status between different levels of politicians, daoists, royalty and so forth. (To be honest, however, it was just the fact that I HAVE NO IDEA what the worth of a copper tael is :/, sure one gold tael is roughly equivalent to ten silver taels and five to seven silver taels can buy a mu of land (~614.4m^2, just imagine a square 25 by 25), but the worth of a copper tael is never explicitly stated... (Relative to silver/ gold).

good A good story, it can be slow paced some time but it picks up really fast and slows later again. The characters are good and really developped, the world too. I really want to read more.

This is probably the most underrated novel on Qidian. Whilst the pacing may seem slow and then some readers away early on, if you have the patience to continue reading, you’ll realise that this story is a gem. The previously “slow” pacing now backed with the depth and richness of the story now turns into a steady and firm pace. That the main character is not exactly a reincarnation, and his “cheat” is not really powerful. Yes, his cheat may be a “learning” type, but it’s not like what he learns is overpowered. To be honest, the scaling of his cheat is just right and allowed author to make the story world even richer. Yes, he has memories of the past life, but he doesn’t get the full memories at one go, making it not too over powered either. This in turn allows the author to not dumb down his story too much. Some stories lower the intelligence of villains to a illogically laughable level just to make the main character’s very basic logic come across as genius. This story doesn’t do that. The MC actually comes across as having above average IQ or throws actual legit logical curveballs. It really saddens me that this novel’s ranking each week is so low, and it really looks like the number of people aware of this novel is also very low.

What i like from nover are : MC is using brain to defeat enemies, Not like other MC that OP from the start, The cheat than he can use is not that powerfull (he must find legacy), MC not womanizer until now, Novel flow is acceptable not fast or too slow.

I loved this book. No idea why people keep saying it's slow paced, all I saw was good story development and everything seemed really thought out. It was paced well enough that everything had a good foundation and wasn't rushed but enough drama to keep me interested and not get bored. The chapters are long and the only problem I have is it hasn't been updated in almost a week...?

Really a good story, it's a mix between the path Dao and the ancient Chinese tradition. Although it's a bit slow its development you a quiere a taste when reading it.

I actually started reading this before it was taken up by QI. It's a good story, but realize that it's definitely taking the scenic route towards the end. There are many characters, many plots and plot twists. Most of the antagonists have a better reason for trying to kill the MC than most xianxia "young-master" types. The whole thing is actually pretty fun if you're into reading stories which plan for the long-haul. Which wouldn't be a problem if it ever updated. Seriously, I don't think this has updated for at least a year.

Why are there no updates for the past 2 months? Is there an explanation anywhere for me to see? I'd appreciate it if anyone can send me to the correction place to read it.

I'm the 17th reviewer. Finally I'm a bit early for once in my life. I quite like the book including the characters and their development between each their. Although it's a little bit too cliche and similar to other novels, I still like it very much.

Quite honestly sometimes I look at a novel and say to myself 'damn maybe I should read that' but then I see the synopsis and get instantly turned off. Please for the love of this novel please put in a better synopsis, it's a problem that could prevent people from reading this novel.

Very underrated novel. I’d rather see this in second place than that Shadow something novel. Honestly, the plot is slow and the updates is not even happening. Figures why the ratings are dropping. This novel is different from other Xianxia because of how less crazy the MC is. He’s a scholar and uses his head.

this is one of my favourite system novel as it is quite realistic that it does not give a lot of cheat and info about the missions that the mc gets, the first chapter is very confusing and the story is quite a bit slow but i find it interesting that mc has to do all without any system's gift or cheat protection.

Interesting series, makes me think of Three Kingdom and ancient China somehow, the story and plot itself is progressive and is not stale like most series where there's cultivation involved, though, there's a lot of reaction and response from the main character that makes me wonder if he really has any brain in his head, it's still enjoyable.
