Far north in the city of Fairbanks, Alaska Maxwell Smiths has started another year of college. Everything will be the same as last year, he’ll barely scrape through getting grades just enough to pass while trying to avoid conflict at school and home. But all that changed when a new family moved into town. Max found himself attached to the newest boy in his class in more ways than one.

But when his life goes for the worse right in front of the new family, they decide to help the Smiths out. But what is happening behind closed doors? Why are there some many rules in the house? Where is the rest of his family? And what is hiding in the woods?
