Chapter comments on the chapter Beasts’ Attack (2) of the book Science/Magic

To be honest, the only possible way I see to stop the Devourers is to create an entity similar to it with Nano machines. Create a Mechanical empire that can self reproduce using materials, can take over living beings mind though infiltration so the Devourers can't have a host. The enemies live to eat souls which machines have none.
