Honestly i don't like it... Does this author love to force the plot into almost hopeless situations or something? There was no need to warp... They could have moved towards another planet even if it took 1 year long... It would atleast not be a complete 'GAMBLE'... I mean seriously, when you have multiple choices that can effect the life of 120k people, which one would you choose? The one that takes longer but safe? Or the one which is a complete gamble? Warping was a complete gamble while they had the means to travel towards the other planets in that star system to mine some uranium... It would just take more time, but it wouldn't be a complete GAMBLE atleast........ Or they could stay in orbit of the dessert planet and analize the plants and the energy source more and try to use it for their advantage. Maybe even make the plant bring up all the resources it collected for example.. But NOPEEEE... Lets just all listen to a moron and warp instead... No one in their right mind would take such a gamble and no scientist in their right mind would agree to go along with such insanity... Everyone is like sheeps listening to mc's crazy plans with no one refuting him... This is really breaking the suspension of disbelief for me... Why choose the craziest plan? The only reason is because author wanted to push the story into another hopeless situation instead of taking the slow but steady road...
Am I the only person here aware that Watts are a unit of power and not energy ? It's the amount of energy that you use in one second, hence why your energy bills are in kilowatts*hours (and not kw/hours). Saying that those cristals containt billions or whatever of watts of energy is nonsensical. Joules is the word you are looking for, or MegaJoules cause a Joule is very small.
Besides I agre No, I was utterly shocked when we learn that the solar system has several other telluric planets, as close a months or at worst one year away, and as I was thinking to myself how conveniant it was this idiot decides to do a random jump with the quasi absolute certainty of ending in the empty space between solar sytems (which is pretty much 99.999999999999% of the universe :D). They were already more lucky than lotto winners with that first jump :p
Oh well the novel is still not as bad as what those chinese authors have used us to
well, this statement is not entirely right: "The original number is one trillion and fifty million billion watts which can’t be right because fifty million billion is already bigger than one trillion. So the numbers here and in the rest of the text have been adjusted accordingly."
In my country one trillion is a billion of billions so here that sentence is right. 1million=10^6, 1billion=10^12, 1trillion=10^24.
