Out of like 3000 people, these 10 guys are building a communicator and somehow the digging people want to smash the communicator so that the 10 people would join the digging efforts ? That doesn't make any sense. 1st, 10 people are too little to make any difference, and 2nd, if you smash their stuff they wouldn't help you afterwards. This is purely drama for drama's sake.

After Battle star Galactica it's Macross now lol, The author know the classics. Maybe next it'll be Star trek or Babylon 5
