It would probably be weird if I walked around the castle with a sword in my back, which is stupid and flawed, or around my waist.

Why not just shot spells into it's mouth? No tough skin inside.

Sound spells, a spell that could cause small but strong earthquakes, and some offensive spells that I was sure would kill many magical creatures, but I don't know if they would work on the basilisk's tough skin.

Maybe the desire to protect isn't strong enough.

Basically all the students who learned the Patronus from Harry in the DA, whether corporeal or incorporeal, never had any combat or even any form of approach with a Dementor.

It's him being happy that he doesn't have any guilt or remorse for killing that I find 'troubling', not the fact that he doesn't feel guilt. I remember him having the whole idea about choosing the right time/person for his first kill or something. Something about every kill being meaningful and important, but this remorselessness completely rids him of that. Though I doubt it, but that's where the character starts going down a psychopathic path. It kind of ruins any Quinn West I have been reading about, step-by-step and calculating(overlooking Sin related mental shifts). I think that's what I was thinking back then, can't remember.

I remember Sirius telling Harry about them at night with Remus in their Animagus forms running around the forest. That's where I get the backstory, unless I'm remembering wrong. Then again, I'm kind of sure they actually did this, even if there isn't any detail about it.

Overall it was a pleasant way of spending my days at Hogwarts. I even had a few business talks with the twins, started teaching my new spells to my friends, planned with them on when to go register our animagi forms, and we even decided to just run a bit wild in said forms as we ran through the snow covered grounds of the school at night.

I only notice them after I turn on the paragraph comments and see others commenting on them. It's sometimes fun to see how many I glossed over without ever realising it, both here and other novels.

What's your point? He created one of the worst(in my opinion) dark spells that can be both physical and mental torture. Tetani Nervum, it (for the duration) robs the magical capability of the victim through physical and spiritual ruptures(?). This is especially for the 'pure bloods', as they take their magical prowess for granted.
