'either is wandering around or extinguished'. Really, Timong? Really? Some person comes to you, asks you about a very specific book and implies he knows what it is. Someone who does not conform to this reality, using divinity to power Necromancy as well as using normally useless Muskets to great effect. Wouldn't, you know, the first thought be 'yeah, thats probably the soul that got deflected that day', especially after he saw said person twitch his eyes at the date he mentioned? I mean, sure, maybe he was too absorbed, but still!

Well, they are the guardians of purgatory. Its not like they are a singular entity. The first one that got summoned consumed a lot of lifeforce and was sacrificed to maintain the warp spell. The other came through that warp gate, and since they have yet to gorge on lifeforce, I dooubt they are as strong as the first one.

Meanwhile, the Big Eyes began thrusting and slamming their tentacles like whips as well.

Nah, if you think about it, they became necromancer exactly because they feared their own demise. While necromancy here drains your lifeforce, in return, you can also drain the lifeforce of other people to keep eternal youth, just like Morgana the witch did. In fact, I presume that most necromancers are more afraid of death than the ordinary folk :P

Although they hadn't screamed out aloud yet, the terror from 'death' still paralysed their reasoning and none of them could make any rash moves.

Heh, we already know that, after he utilizes the skull, he willl be knocked out. So, imagine that scene, the paladins and archbishop come in, seeing our MC llying on the floor with an omnious skul mask on his head. His brother is on the bed, bloodied due to the fact that his heart literallly exploded. It would seem like the epitome of evilness, as if he assasinated the prince - and then the prince will open his eyes ... and be actually alive

Yeah, no. So, lets imagine he kills them off. What would happen? First of, even if he succeeds in killing the villagers off, he now has no continous supply of food or clothes (or any items basically). He would need to scavenge things. He also couldn't stay anywhere, since if the paladins, who WILL be coming at a certain point, find him, they will kill him for sure. The MCs argument is entirely justified, the pallies would probably strike him down for good. So he would be forced to go deeper into these cursed langs, without a supply of food. Did you read what heppened to the girl after she ate Zombie flesh and got into the pool? That would basically his situations, since his inborn divinity would constantly battel against the putrid flesh he would be forced to consume. He also can't take up residence, being always on the run means that he will get exhausted. It doesn't help that this area is crawling with zombies that want to tear him apart. Going back to human settlements? Well, pallies again. So, on the run in a zombie infested area where he has to keep being vigilant day and night, unable to rest and be forced to scavenge for food and items. How is that peace and quiet? Well, it actually is once he has died, but ... Well, thats not really helpful.

Helping them out was the only way I'd be able to spend some peace and quiet myself. Besides, I wasn't going to 'personally' deal with the zombies, anyway.
