Yes, that's more popular version of his birth. But there are few potential mothers - myths about Dionysus and one of them is about Persephone. It's cause she's connected the death and Dionysus kept on dying and reviving, and Zeus was supposedly taking on a snake form at the time of the deed. Remember, even Kim Dokja asked the constellation ifself if that was true ;)
Personally I find it unlikely, it's more probable she was only handed the child to help hide him.

There is lack of consistency in parentage depending on the region myths came from. Like the Moirai (Fates). Zeus fears them, but there are still some myths of him being their father. I think that Nyx being the mother is more possible (and Zeus would not dare to touch that one goddess). View More

DemonicZither: umm, u do know that Dionysus is NOT Persephone's son, right? he was the son of Zeus and a mortal woman , one of the rare few that zeuz actually loved rather than his fling. and Hera, being the nasty ***** she was, took the form of an old cronish looking women in pain and laid herself on the road in the way of the mortal women. the women, who was pure hearted and kind, took pity on her and helped her up and gave her food. the old cronw noticed her pregnant belly and asked her who's the father and why don't you live with him? why do u live alone? so she told her about how the father was zeus and that they were both in love very much, cuz at that time flings with gods was normal. the old crone, to stir up the doubt, asked" if he truly loves you, then have you ever seen his true form??" and she replied that ni , i haven't. the old crone said" then he mustn't love you truly, for he comes in front of hera, his wife, in his true form, but not in front of you. if he truly loves you, ask him to appear in front of you in the same way he comes in front of Hera". " i will, aunty" she replied and turned to look back at the crone, but their was no ine there. when zeus came to visit her later, shw remembered the words of the old crone and asked him "do you truly love me?" "yes of course i do""then come to me as you would in front of Hera""but you won't be able to handle it darling""I don't caee, you promised to do whatever i asked, so show me your true form as if i were Hera" he did, and unable to withstand his true power, the women burst into flames and turned to dust on the spot. the baby, however, had gods blood running in his veins and hence survived. but due to it not being nine months old , was undeveloped and weak.so zeus sliced open his thigh and put the baby in there for the remainder of the time till he was healthy and fully developed. and that's how Dionysus was born.

Actually Persephone landed the best husband from all :D Hades had only kids with her and if he shown interest in any other women, Persephone changed the girls into tree and mint. And Hades only done the kidnapping after getting kinda an 'ok' from Zeus.
On the other hand Zeus started with forcing himself on one sister (Hera) who was too proud to let it slide and married him, and done it with other sister (Demeter) resulting in Kora (Persephone).
Later there are myths of Zeus having kids with Persephone (some goddes of ghosts, Dionysus being her son is actually not much popular myth and they say he's got other moters).
If Dionysus was truly Persephone kid, then no wonder he got into drinking habits having mother that was his sister ;)
And Persephone herself was not faithfull maiden either - she cheated on her husband quite openly and even got into fight with Aphrodite about mortal lover (whom was born from another in'cest) ;D

I wonder how many coins did olympians get for all that colorful stuff they done during scenarios. No wonder they are rich. View More

DemonicZither: e***w! no!! where did you hear that?!?!?!? that would be gross!! Persephone was the daughter of Demeter and the wife of Hades. that in itself is already twisted enough, but if what you are saying is true, then doesn't that mean that zeus slept with his own sister, who gave birth to a child who was later kidnapped and raped by her own uncle and then forcefully turned into his wife?!?!?!

Well, she was scammed to breast feed the bastard child, then heard only the praises about the kid while being neglected by her ****** prone husband. I bet she kept on flipping the tables constantly.

I was just looking through myth compedium on Persephone and got reminded of some nasty ****** facts :]
Zeus was a total ass - he's the father of Persephone and apparently he fathered few of her children.
You're good with popular myths, but try looking deeper and there will be lots of interesting surprises (≖‿≖) it's where the fun lies hidden View More

Ah, you wanted me to describe each and every labor. Seem like I misunderstood. His madness I knew he killed his family but didn't connect it to the labors. Could be my dislike repels him from my mind as all I see is some burly man wearing lion skin being haunted by Hera and protected by Zeus whom I dislike even more :D View More

DemonicZither: nope, thas not it at all. It was Hera who forced him into madness and made him so enraged that he would think his family were people who came to kill him. in his rage , he killed his wife and his son, a crime worthy of death by the gods. Later on, to prolong his suffering, she forced upon him a way to remove the guilt and sin of killing his family: the 12 labours. she made him think that he must accomplish a deed worthy of the gods recognition and reward, so as to escape the death sentence. they were:slay, thr stymphalian birds, the nemean lion and the nine headed lyrian hydra. capture the cretan bull, the golden hind of Artemis, the ermanthian boar, and cereberus, who had escaped into the mortal realm. steal the cattle of monster greyon, the girdle of hypolyta(the greatest queen of the amazons) ,the mares of Diomedes, and the golden apple from the garden of the Hesperides. and the last was cleaning the augean stables in a single day, now that was a very hard one, cuz the stables were of flesh-eating-fire-breathing horses who made a huge mess and hated cleanliness.

Ah, Hercules, that guy. Never liked him, was actually cheering for the snakes in newborn assasination attempt xD
I think it was some kinda oracle to do as the Mycean king wanted. The oracle say - the mortals do thing. He wanted valor so they shown him the path towards it. If we think about it, it's like dokkaebis scenarios that will build up his achievements in stream and later end up in Heracles joining the ranks of gods.

I actually pity those oracle-girls. They were stuck in caves, breathed in sulfur fumes. Forced to speak delirious nonsense then died young due to poisoning from those vulcanic sulfuric gases. :(
I hope someone will throw Anna Croft into such cave and seal the exit xD View More

DemonicZither: what are the 12 labours and why were they commissioned??

Oh, they are. They came into the greek mythology from east due to stories of finding them-bones in mines (of course those were more of dino and similar bones). One of them Griffons is pulling Dionysus chariot :)
I didn't read Spiderwick chronicles. I recommend "The Greek Myths" compendium by Robert Graves and the theoi page.

Do ask, fellow constellation. View More

DemonicZither: ah yes, thats correct! but somehow, i never felt that griffins were a part of greek mythology you know, after i saw the spiderwick chronicles. but still, it seems your knowledge far surpasses me. so may i ask you something???

Omniscient Reader · C245

Oh, just 1 point out of 10.
First - the Griffin has nothing to do with snakes. That would be chimera, a totally different species. Griffins were partially eagles and partially lions.
You got the Pegasus origin right, but it's not just that pegasus is entity born from gods and Griffin being a monster. The true difference is Pegasus is mythological being, while Griffins were thought of as true animals (even up to middle ages). View More

DemonicZither: and according to what i know, the pegasi are the descendants of the imortal Pegasus, son of Poseidon, while the griffins are monsters formed from the merger of hawks and snakes.

On the ship Argo there was one female, Atalanta, a warrior maiden famed for being fast runner. Daughter of king of some city. She didn't want a husband so she came up with some set of rules that likely suitors needed to pass to gain her hand in marriage.
But I give you 3 point for guessing the ship ;) View More

Omniscient Reader · C245

Huhu, that was a tricky question ;)
Hippogriff - the meaning of it is "something impossible", the hate of griffons towards horses was so famous, that existence like half griffon-half horse was something that would never be. View More

DemonicZither: and honestly i don't know the first

Omniscient Reader · C245

Ok' three questions that might be hard to answer if not looking into. Can you answer any of them fast? ;)
Greek mythology theme:
1. Where would you look for a hippogriff?
2. What is the difference in existence status between a griffon and a pegasus?
3. Tell the names of women who were a part of the crew of the famous ship that Hera was a patron of. View More

DemonicZither: then do it instantaneously. I won't have time to type so fast on the net and then here as well. if u use the internet, you know the answer to such things doesn't just pop up. it has to be dup ip from sites, which takes time.

Dig deeper please.
Oh my.. you try to do logic with women? And goddess at that?
I'll tell you what - the sort of woman who could not 'kill off' her husband. ^^ View More

DemonicZither: oh pleeeease!! i have researched Greek history to the point that i can tell you how each and every god was born, which god rules over what, and how the world was born!! so while, yes it it true that hera could have had a child by herself, it doesn't seem likely. I mean think about, what sort od women in their right mind would think"oh im so angry at my husband! let me give birth to a child by myself!!" ???

Omniscient Reader · C245

Oh my, you still don't understand.
Those are gods you are talking about. They can have offsprings with anything and change their genders. They can renew their virginity, they can become older and younger any time they want. They can even gulp down pregnant goddess and there will be soon an armed girl jumping out from their head while screaming.

In those myths Hera birthed her son ALONE. Without her brother/husband help. And she did not cheat on him.
Those are facts. Those facts are not created by me, but by ancient Greeks.
Don't get agitated due to facts from ancient history. If anything go and werify them first. View More

DemonicZither: because Hera is the goddess of MARRIAGE!!!!! SHES THE ONE THAT KEEPS FAMILIES TOGETHER AND MARRIAGES PERFECT!!!!!! you think she would cheat on her husband because she was angry with him???? of honey she was angery with him all the day cuz Zeuz had trouble keeping it in his pants anytime he saw a beautiful woman!!!

actually, less that half myths says that Zeus is his father, more myths tells that Hera had Hephaestus WITHOUT Zeus, cause she was angry with him at the time for cheating on her once again View More

DemonicZither: sorry, i misspoke! zeus is the father of Hephaestus, so even if MPM was Hephaestus, he would have called her aunt. and this is the first time we are meeting him, so we cant say that him and olmpus are close, cuz shes the only one he talked to and this whole conversation is a waste of time, cuz eeally, there's nothing to uncover here.
