Together, they sometimes went on walks around the campsites, because both Lynol and Foster simply weren't used to the sights they were seeing. Lynol came from the frosty north, and Foster from another world. Right now, they entered a special forest. The trees were huge, truly gigantic. All of them could be compared to skyscrapers, as if someone took the term 'concrete jungle' and took the 'concrete' away from it.

"Thomas!" Eiro screamed out, and that was exactly when a shift started to happen. The versions of Eiro that were moving toward the death increased manifold, and they all moved in a vastly different way compared to before. They moved just like Thomas moved in Eiro's memories. Of course Eiro had to adapt a few things due to his build and the fact that he only had a dagger as a weapon, but he fought just like Thomas would have fought. Many even created fake weapons with ice or earth magic so that they could fake the death out.

The other thing that rings alarms to my senses is the concentration of mana. The speed of the rise towards the last wave was much faster in the last few days and we've hit that point already. Every hour it gets higher. The shadows are so thick you could spread them on toast. Even this high up in the strata, the stink of death is starting to creep into everything. I mean, it's not really a smell, but the sickly taint of death mana is starting to permeate the air and stick to everything it touches. I hope they're cleaning it out of the brood chambers, we don't want the young getting exposed to this stuff, it's nasty.
