You know, I see many people in the comments asking why people think the way they do. so I'll just give a little bit of real life. In a system that still used nobility as its governing force, the only thing that matters is power. There is no such thing as a "good" noble. They may do good thing ls for their country or people, but they themselves are not good people. Everything is a power play. Everything is an agenda to drive. No, I understand your frustration. I don't mind her not being arrogant, but this over stating of humility is getting irritating. I dont really mind her mother being shouded in mystery because that can be explored when Aster is older. But this is definitely toxic humility.
