My guess would be that.
1: The towers are connected.
2: The Tower is a device, or has a device that would allow him to move forward (probably through a huge shadow jump), or get back up.
3: The Tower is a gate
But honestly I just want Sunny to do more archaeological research!!! :)

It was the perfect replica of the Ivory Tower... but at the same time its opposite. The two pagodas were so alike that for a moment, Sunny even thought that he had somehow found himself high up in the Sky Above.
