The complaint is different for those other novels. Here, holding back is done by the characters on purpose and the author manages to show both the sacrifice and the payoff. In novels with bad writing, MCs only hold back so the author can stretch out fights, have more filler. It just doesn't make sense for them to hold back, yet they do. The authors fail to show the thought behind it, the sacrifice and payoff.
