yep. definitely not cool. but so is physical violence, of any form. Also, not that im excusing the "4 years abandonment" (as i hate it so much myself) but all the chefs, maids, bodyguards, finances, and overall protection of lin che and gu shinian (and even mu feiran and her daughter), were all under the instructions and payroll of gu jingze for all those years. My point is, on the surface she appeared to be neglected but in reality she was taken cared of and watched over by her husband.

Gu Jingze couldnt ensure the safety of Lin Che unless he gets total control over Gu Xiande. He had to make sure she's well hidden from his evil grandfather, though of course this really doesnt excuse the temporary abandonment. This has got to be one of the biggest plot holes in the entire novel, the fact that Yu Minmin and Shen Youran could contact Lin Che via phone but Gu Jingze could totally not. It's ridiculous, to say the least.

Gu Jingze needed to get absolute power over his evil grandfather before he could bring Lin Che and their son home to ensure their safety. Doesnt change the fact though that the temporary "abandonment" must have hurt Lin Che a lot.

Gu Xiande is one of the most horrible characters in c-novels that i'd ever come across. There's no rhyme or reason for his actions. He just wants to bring Gu Jingze to his knees bcoz he feels GJZ insulted him. Unfortunately, he still holds all the power and GJZ is now in a precarious position where he couldnt fight him at all.
