what do you thing the nobles will do after getting robbed ? raise taxes for small falk, take the women, cause most of their women are probably killed by pirates, take the boys for new guards. and if the pirated killed the nobles, someone else will take their place. and do the same.

Making the mc attached emotionally to this degree, to an original character, is really a let down. the story started as lone wolf with nothing to lose, now turning into a family man(boy) out of nowhere, the time skip doesn't count cause what matter for a story, is what a reader actually reads or experiences, not "he lived with X for 5 years, now they are family".

Knowing where he was didn't mean a damn bit of good if he had no idea which way was north or south, so he climbed the tallest nearby tree, which wasn't easy given his small stature. Halfway up the tree, he had to pause to catch his breath and let his aching muscles take a rest.
