Before they became nothing more than the lapdogs of of the Senate and the Republic. A government which has allowed corruption to go unchecked and flourish at its highest echelons. People of the galaxy you have seen this with your own eyes over the past few years. Several senators whose crimes were exposed and whose guilt was made unquestionable, protected by the Republic! The Republic and Jedi sitting around, doing nothing but debating during the 'Naboo Crisis' even when it was made known what was happening to the planet and its people! The core worlds gleefully importing goods and resources from the mid and outer rim territories, yet doing hardly anything for the mid and outer rim territories in return for those resources. The money the core worlds pay for such things is only a drop in the bucket to the vast wealth they possess. And what do they do with the rest of their wealth you ask? Do they spend this money in helping to better the lives of their fellow Republic citizens? No. The core worlds keep their money, influence, power, and even military assets all to themselves, while leaving the mid and outer rims to suffer. Having been a Jedi for many years I saw this disparity with my own eyes. While the core worlds are safely protected many in the mid and outer rim territories struggle for survival on a daily bases. From lack of medical supplies and food, to say nothing of the pirates, raiders, and warlords that treat the mid and outer rim territories like their personal play things. It is sickening! And it is something I find entirely unacceptable. As do my allies. Which is why we have banded together to write these wrongs, to deal with these disparities, and to create a brighter future for ourselves which the Republic can no longer provide us. Today I speak to you as a representative of a new governmental body. Its name, the Galactic Systems Alliance. And I say this one last thing to all those watching and listening. If you are tired of experiencing and dealing with he mistakes made by the Republic, if you wish for a better life for yourself and those you care for, if you wish to help build something new, then I implore you to join the Galactic Systems Alliance. For I promise, it is a decision you will not soon regret." He spoke.
