I've never really done a review, so I just wanted to point out some things I wish I had seen more of. While I do understand, the protagonist is the protagonist and a genius one at that. I do wish he'd have gotten hurt more often learning new abilities, considering they were often highly dangerous either just to him or to other i.e the sonic boom for his swords would likely affect the army just from the pressure alone but no one seemed to be affected by it as well. I understand he learned to control the direction, but he didn't have that beforehand and was still using it[I might be mistaken, tbh but I'm fairly certain I'm right] as well as just having a harder time overall. While it would have been filler especially if its super detailed though i really dont mind cause I'd love to see a character grow, I would've loved to see training arcs for the wives as well and definitely more niche abilities(Ayakas exploding bullets/arrows for Evan/Tasha or just upgraded abilities(Ayakas fire birds turning into the "homing missles") from them. On top of that it I'd have loved to see them and even the armies combo thier abilities together like how the assassins made a fire tornado against Kai/sanae or when chiyo kudo/Becca/kai made a field of ice spikes when they were in Russia. I'd love to see a more fleshed out version of the failed zodiacs as well. Perhaps some having more synergy with their animals being stronger in a certain aspect such as intellect, strength, speed, essentially being a zodiac that even the others would they they're one too that maybe some other scientist is making them. We never did get to meet Taurus, and the Zodiac project was successfully so why aren't there more? This is definitely more of a 2nd book option but yeah I'd have loved to see the governments thoughts on zodiac and what plans they had for them, what animals they wanted to use as well as Isabelle/Evan/Sofia/Kai learning to use the zodiac blood from an early age. Seeing how each base started would be cool as well, especially since they aren't similar in how they ask their students to gain experience. The U.S. base just throws them out there, working alongside an established army but also has them perform squad missions without the help of the army. The U.A base has them ease into it via simulation tubes and practical exams where the armies are, so it's relatively the safest option. The E.U base has exoskeletons. I would love to figure out the origin of that as well, so many students just fight solo or in small groups. The exoskeleton mainly helps with physical abilities, so they should have the biggest amount of brawler types as well. I'd like to see the first glimpses of S rank monsters as well. How they came to be because when you added the Brazilian wandering spider being afraid of lightning cause it almost died before the apocalypse, that was just a nice addition. I understand S ranks are generally the biggest, baddest, and smartest, but are they born that way? can a d rank monster just kill others and essentially "rank up" in order to become better? They can be trained because the sea princess trained a few A rank monsters to essentially suicide when attacking Kai so would there be instances of a single animal in a pack learning from battles they survived(not likely considering the status quo is mass genocide from the armies) and that animal being seen again in multiple battles till it becomes an s rank? I hope you write more books cause I'm definitely invested in this world. overall, I loved the book and hope others enjoyed it as much as I did.
