If that was the case, shouldn’t the weapon of extractors have a much higher likely hood of transforming into specters? It would be an interesting power mechanic for higher grades weapons!

Maybe because its not a crime since its not foul play according to their city legal code. If its not a crime, than killing the spy is not self defence but murder. Two problems with this theory of mine: 1. Ardum most likely didn’t record what happened since Nick ability was active until the guard saw him. 2. Suspicious activity on the roof of a competitor while hiding your identity is trespassing at least. Considering that zephix extractors have the right to kill, its most likely not Ardum’s plan to frame Dark Dream for murder

Gregorio has some understanding of anti-magic, its not inconcevable that he could also elevate his state of being like Shang has if he deigns to help him. Shang dislike mana but he still find Gregorio a worthwhile ally. He might decide to invest in him to ensure his further cooperation. If George managed to fuse Shang’s DNA with an abomination at the true path stage, I’m sure an Emperor could figure out a much more comprehensive way, especially with a working template in front of him.

The only way to truly surpass Lucius mastery of Anti-Magic is to combine it with the concept of life. Lucius didn’t fuse it with death, but with life, so Shang could go a step further by fusing it with both. However, is low affinity and terrible personnality are probably a huge barrier to understanding the life concepts. The sword seems the better way considering he doesn’t have that much time left
