Answering a comment from previous chapter about 10 years to become a new magus. I don't remember a specific time to become one, it's suppose to be in accordance to the pillars they formed. The 10 years wait was because they needed to comprehend the laws better in order not to sacrifice to many pillars and be a failure of a magus like the guy that fought Emery when he became a privilege acolyte. The more law comprehension, the more powerful when entering the new moon stage and less of a chance to be stuck at the magus realm without being able to advance.
