Nakayama, ever since he was but a small boy, walked through life without hatred. That was what he was taught, it was in his blood at this point. Sure, it was perfectly natural to get frustrated with other people, but the very idea of holding deep-seated resentment towards someone didn't settle right with him for a reason he didn't quite understand, but that feeling was definitely fueled by his childhood teachings. That same unsettling feeling carried over when he thought about his relationship with Chiaki. That kid gave him a familiar vibe, a bittersweet one to say the least. It was almost as if Chiaki was a walking manifestation of Nakayama's own memories, both good and bad.

"S-so what…?" Ruth raised her voice. "If your level wasn't so much higher than mine...my strength and speed as they are now would be more than enough to beat you! Who cares if my magic is lackluster? My entire family's combat is based on melee, it's tradition and we've done just fine without a whole bunch of magic!"

"I used to ask him about it a lot, but I learned my lesson back in middle school. It was no use, he'd never train me or teach me anything. Don't get me wrong, our relationship as a family was great, but I never figured out why my dad decided to never train me in any magic arts. Of course, it wasn't as if it would've proved to be all that useful because Moku City wasn't exactly fond of using magic for everything, but it still would've been nice. The only spell he ever taught me was Ondo Ochiru, a temperature spell, and I didn't even have to ask for that one. We were out in a cabin in some snowy mountains and I got really cold one night, so he said "okay, I'll teach you this spell I know" and that was it."

"The warmer something is, the longer it takes for the temperature to decrease, no? Well, just then, I happened to decrease all of your temperatures, which would make my next move a hell of a lot more effective, wouldn't you say?"

"I wonder about that," Yasuko muttered to himself. Then, he chanted something else. "Toppuu." (Literal Translation: Gust)

"Here! Grab onto me!" another one shouted. Immediately, all of the blue-shirts grabbed onto the one in the middle. He held up both hands and put his fingertips together and shouted "Uku!" (Literal Translation: Float)

"It's alright, Koko." Nakayama said, petting the back of Koko's head. "It was my fault, I should've given him the bed when he asked for it. It was inconsiderate of me to not take his feelings into account."

"Well, I suppose I can understand why a boy such as yourself would be confused at a time like this," she responded, inhaling the nicotine from her cigarette once more. "I assume you've exclusively found an attraction towards females all your life, and now that you've discovered you have feelings like that towards someone who is not, it's quite mentally draining. I can put my feet in your shoes."

He looked up and inhaled. "You too, Chiaki." he thought to himself. "Even though you're scary and aggressive and all, I still don't hate you. One day, I hope you and I can start over and be friends. And, if not, I'll at least be there to help you take care of Koko and Kiyomi."
