if the enemy alliance have canons now, then wouldnt more then 5 players have it and at the moment everyone have canon tech?

So, is there some silly reason why cannons mounted on ships can't fire onto land in this book? Last I knew cannons fired explosive rounds that flew through the air & air works just the same over land as it does water. So sink the ships with frogmen and blast the armies to bits on the land. Reminder to the author, cannons fire further than archers, at least equivalent to your triple arm ballista (1500m) but closer to 2000m at max accurate range though this the age of sail when they didnt have inertial competitors to account for the roll of the ship so the firing crew would have to be great to achieve max range on target. In comparison, the best bows in the world (English longbow) could only achieve 400 meters. Can you see the difference?
