I have to admit I started this book on a whim, not expecting much from it. I choose it because it is 96 chapters short, completed and completely free to read. But I have to admit this book really captured me. I binge read it, sleeping really late only to continue reading right after getting up again and completing this book. (Although the chapters aren't many, they aren't by any means short.) The female lead seemed idiotic and naive at first, but later one I came to realise that she is smart but ignorant of many worldly things, cause of it being mostly her upbringing. The male lead as well might seem unreasonable and ruthless at first, but the deeper you look the more the many layers of his and all the other characters will capture you. If you can't sympathize or feel yourself into those characters, this story might not fit you. But before dropping it right now, without even having tried it, please take a minute to savour this story. In my eyes it's a rare gem. I won't say much to not spoil anything but the plot greatly depicts imperial palace life and ploys. Each character has profound dept and reasoning, struggling for their means of survival. There are many hidden puzzle pieces to the story with the author leaving little hints everywhere that the reader has to pick up. But that doesn't make the plot predictable by any means. Instead it draws you deeper and deeper into the misery and intrigues. It made me feel excited and nervous, my heart beating fast. The only spoiler I am going to give is that the ending of this book will most likely disappoint you. I won't say more,but the reason for that is that this book is part of a trilogy as far as I know. Sadly the author choose to continue only on wattpad. Gladly you don't need an account there to read further, you just can't comment in this case. So far the second book is even more exciting than the first, starting where the first one ended. The 2nd and 3rd book are called His Majesty and I His Liege and I You would miss out by not reading them as far as I am concerned.

This book is awesome. I was skeptical before to start this book. But thank God I did. It is filled with harem drama. and I love that. and that the female protagonist is a feminist and wants female empowerment is such a nice twist to her character.

I loved the story all the way! The plot, the drama, the suspense, everything. I can't wait to read the sequel, His Majesty and I. Thumbs up for you!

EMPEROR AND I deserves all the love. The story is not only romance or action, but is a complex mix of everything ranging from humor to love to nail biting thrills. It depicts the human natures and characters so clearly and with so much detail. The protagonist is strong but also has her faults and a past. I'm so glad the book is posted on Webnovel.

Your story is interesting but due to the updates far in between and one chapter at a time, it gets tedious to read. The flow has become monotonous. Where is the excitement that was promising in the beginning.

This story quite good but it full of frustration with the misunderstanding between Mc and Ml.You have to put your heart in freezer so you will feel less pain over the way they suffering on misunderstanding love each other.

A good story with a lot of potential. The way the characters are formed and their characteristic justify the actions. It piques the interest of the reader specially the emperor and the princess who long for each other but are apart due to the situation they are put through. It’s a wait and read on they finally meet and how the story unfolds 👍👍👍

The novel is interesting with very deep plot and characters with added humor. I liked the twist and turns of the story as it shows howbrilliant the author is. Keep up the good work author and hopefully more exciting chapters to come!

So far so good, the story has raptured my attention. The story developed well and the female lead with the lecherous emperor is fun to watch out for, l especially like the scenes involving them. I can say sunset is a talented author that has the capability to capture your attention. The English language is presentable making the story easy to read, if there are errors it's only typographical errors. I recommend that it shouldn't be missing in your library.

This book is so good! It's a Chinese setting novel that gives me a different atmosphere and style than all the others on Webnovel. I love palace novels and this one was a fresh kind. The emperor is on the way of being my favorite cold male lead.

The story is nice and well-written. I hope our FL will finally become the Empress and forget about her brother [first love] and I just hope that General won't do anything to her. She's the Emperor's woman.

I just recently discovered this book; so far, it only has about a dozen published chapters (though most are a decent size and word length) but I can already tell that it's going to reach great heights. The author put so much thought and detail into it. Whether it's how many characters a slave or nobleman is allowed to have in their name or the traditional way to honor a newly ascended Emperor—the author has created a world rich with its own culture and life. The MC is strong and beautiful, but she's not overpowered to the point where she can beat all the big, bad villains right away when she has just settled into her new life. I have a feeling she's only going to learn and become more powerful from there but with her own abilities—not because of plot armor or the secret powers that all MCs have. She's respectable and someone you can cheer for since she's not about revenge or just pushing others down. She still trying to discover her own clear purpose in life, but you can tell it'll be a great one. The Emperor only just showed up so I don't know much about him yet—his backstory did look interesting though. There was this other male lead that was kind of hot. I think many people that look forward to the romance in a book might like this. It only updates twice a week but it is an original instead of a translation and hey, quality of quantity right?
