Defender of the Rose [BL] DOTR

"What makes a hero... a hero?" A soft voice echoed in the dark room, carrying a hint of curiosity.

"I do not quite understand what you mean..." The person being questioned chuckled nervously. His confused eyes staring at the dark gaze that penetrated him, reminding him of a dark, endless void filled with mysteries.

"A villain is created... or rather, recognized. as a villain due to their crimes... but what about a hero?" The person's eyes strayed away from those dark eyes as a thoughtful expression crossed onto his features.

"Due to their achievements?" The statement sounded more like a question, as if the person himself was unsure with his answer.

Those dark eyes stared at him for a few seconds... But those mere seconds felt like hours to the person that had answered.

"What if they committed crimes as well, along with achievements? Will they still be recognized as heroes?" The person stayed silent. Enable to continue forward with this conversation as he, himself was stuck in the same revelation as the person beside him.

He closed his eyes shut, desperately trying to ignore the disappointed sneer from the person that he held so dear to himself.

Everything was confusing to him... and making the other feel disappointment was not what he anticipated to happen today.

Alistair Alarie, a young hero that was beloved by all, had been assigned to a case that was much more different and challenging than any other cases that he had received.

This case had the potential to fail if not planned correctly and was in high risk of endangering his life, but Alistair had still accepted it.

The case was about a renowned mafia group called the 'Thorns'.

The Thorns were famous for committing crimes in the most extreme way possible, but the thing that intrigued Alistair the most was their leader.

Rhoswen Vaillant.

Rhoswen Vaillant was never seen by anyone. Even if he was, his face was usually covered with a white mask.

Rhoswen was known by his infamous white roses.

Alistair would always corner Rhoswen but within a blink of an eye, Rhoswen would disappear, leaving a white rose on the ground where he was previously standing on.

So, imagine the young hero's excitement when he receives a mission to go undercover to the villain's base with his teammates and childhood best friends.

Will the young hero succeed in bringing down the villain or will the hero uncover a truth much darker than he had anticipated?
