Humanity.

We thought surviving was easy. Like in the movies, we were sorely mistaken. If you are watching this, congrats, you may soon meet the same fate. I won't let you die easily though.

First off, these creatures, these monsters, they aren't human. In fact, I think they are the farthest from humans. Bear this in mind, what they were before is no more, do not hesitate to kill them.

Second, the infection drastically improved their hearing. Stay as quiet as possible. If you think you're alone, check again. 

Lastly, you should either make very few friends or don't make any. You should rarely trust other survivors, to properly survive in this world, you have to be cold, calculating, and above all, demented.

Other survivors may kill you without a moment's hesitation, without even a thought. Those monsters will tear you limb from limb in an instant, they're even more dangerous than humans. Trusting foolishly will get you nothing but a grizzly and painful death.

The infection, the virus, whatever you call it, is deadly. It keeps the host's nervous system and brain alive, but the people are no longer in control. If you see somebody with a limp, you should immediately assume they will kill you. Doubt and fear are what will keep you alive.

The world before was a kill-or-be-killed world, unfortunately, that hasn't changed in the slightest. I killed people before this infection, and I had to kill even more people during it. 

I'm not proud of my actions before and after, but I should at least help you survive. You might wonder, "What the hell happened?" I can't fully answer that. All I can tell you is we were screwed over by everyone.

We've all had that feeling of dread before something bad happens, now you need to get used to it. I'm sorry to anyone watching this, we messed up and now it's up to you to fix what's left. The world you once knew is no more. Although some of us attempted to salvage what was left, what's destroyed cannot be restored.

So, follow my advice, I've survived long enough for you to at least consider it. Good luck everyone, and remember this. When the world goes to shit, there will always be a few people left, fighting to survive.
