Ko is a licensed Warrior— defender of the citizens of the Mai Kingdom against flesh-eating monsters. Despite high status, he is unsatisfied with his position; Ko longs to join the Elites— a group of the most powerful Warriors that ever lived, but to qualify, one must defeat a God-level threat.

Kana is an enigmatic Warrior. He rules an infamous fortress dedicated to helping monsters that refuse to consume humans, resorting to alternatives. Immensely powerful that the Elites' members invited him to join despite never facing a God-level threat. He is the only one in history exempted from the rule.

However, Kana declines. All he ever wanted is to make Ko, his childhood friend, happy. Despite the pain of his unrequited love for him, he vows to stand by Ko.
