SS? The only thing he's ever had is how everyone mistook him for slow witted song. However, the audience has had a TON of hints. We even saw him in action when he defended the scholarly faction against the netherworld invasion. It's just really nice for him to finally be on the same page. View More

My problem isn't the separation, but the way he and Solus present it. They act like this could be a permanent separation when Lith, Solus, and the audience have known since the beginning that it won't be. Lith knows her intentions were good and needs some time to deal with his feelings, but he's treating a hiccup as if it could end everything. Solus knows this too, yet she's talking about never making up, going insane, and being a slave. Hell, Lith has already worked with her again and Solus is talking about Lith's desire to speak with her in this very chapter. They're both overreacting to a normal argument, and it feels like the author is just ramping up the level of drama to an unrealistic level. (Although if Lith felt this way towards Protector, I would understand it more.) View More

Fenrir323: I dont understand why so many readers cant understand Lith for breaking the mindlink. The betrayl of Solus was the worst that could have happened. In this world he can and will lie to everyone except Solus. He told her everything. In a world where he is an Alien he can only speak with Solus. And that trust was broken. No matter what the reason was. Even if she meant it for the greater good. She shouldnt have broken the trust Lith has in her. It is impossible to go back how it was (in my opionin).

The_Milkman: Fair points, I slightly disagree as I believe that the magic council would always be a bit to confident with themselves, as they at least subconsciously believe they are very powerful. But that is just a minor difference in opinion, I loved your arguments though, fun to think about :)

ReadsWebNovels: The fact that Linjos allowed himself to be poisoned is proof of his incompetence. With all this sabotoge, poison should be expected. Also, if it's revealed that he does have countermeasures and they're still all magic based after experiencing the anti-magic parasites, he's still incompetent. At the very least, having noticed that he's poisoned, he should be able to identify at least one traitor (or narrow it down to obe of a handful of people.)

Supreme Magus · C243

In regards to your point about the poison being impossible to find, he should have anticipated it because of the parasites. Just before this, they discovered weaponized (and engineered by a magic user) parasites that produce a poison which blocks magic use. At this point, he should have anticipated that undetectable (by magic) poisons could already exist and taken mundane steps (limiting his food sources/supply route) in anticipation. You can't be poisoned if you don't give anyone the opportunity to put poison in your food. I mean hell, what if they had modified this poison to be deadly? What if they mixed the magic blocking poison with a deadly poison to prevent it from being detected? What if this poison attacked the core? He'd be dead.

As for the traitor comment, pretty much every time Linjos is in a chapter, he mentions all the traitors all around him (including this one,) so it's not as if he's unaware of them. By this point, he should know who does what and be able to narrow down potential traitors based on who had the opportunity to do what. For instance, since he has been poisoned, someone who handled his food (not via potions since they need to strictly control the dosage and potion use could be irregular) would have to be the traitor. If he was cautious about his food supply, the opportunities to poison him would have been limited, and it would have been even easier to pinpoint who poisoned him.

Linjos is in way over his head. In times of peace, he may have been suitable and competent, but he's completely unprepared for a war situation. He's being responsive, taking action after a tragedy rather than being proactive in preventing it. For instance, after the incident in the portals classroom, Linjos clamped down on access to the academy core. Now, after students have already been poisoned, Linjos is going to take protective measures. Despite already knowing that slave collars (bracelets and rings too) have been produced in the kingdom and knowing what they look like, he isn't even taking any steps to see if anyone (students or teachers) could be being controlled by these collars. Despite knowing that traitors had access to the academy core in the past, there's been no mention of having a trusted artificer check the core for tampering. (He isn't an artificer, so I understand he can't do it himself, but for gods sake they could have put in backdoors or traps on the thing. They've already modified it in the past to enable the spacial tears.) I could literally write a small essay on all the red flags Linjos has acknowledged (via dialogue) but somehow missed. View More

The_Milkman: Besides agreeing that he is pretty incompetent, I don’t think it’s because of him being poisoned. I mean even the god of healings diagnostic spell couldn’t detect the poison, why should anyone else being able to detect without true magic. I mean he probably checked his food for poison but it was near impossible to find. As for traitors, he probably thought he got rid of them when he first started and replaced many teachers with new ones. In conclusion yes, he is a little slow sometimes but in this case he isn’t being plain dumb.
