Myst Evrard was your typical rural village kid. He once dreamed of fame and a life of adventure but quickly gave up on the idea after realizing he just wasn't cut out for that sort of stuff. It didn't really help that his childhood best friend became a monster and demon slaying hero and his first crush turned out to be a long lost princess of the kingdom. When he finally decided to live a mundane village life, he suddenly encounters an unfortunate accident and dies. Just when he thought things couldn't possibly get any worse... When he opened his eyes next, fully expecting to find himself in the netherworld, what he saw was... A giant robot?! What the heck was going on? He's unexpectedly "transmigrated" into the body of Ryuu Creed - a guy who was suddenly thrust in the midst of political turmoil and military intrigue because of his family, and forced into the role of a test pilot for a top secret military project. Will "Alice" find the way back through the "Looking Glass"? *This is a work inspired by recent Japanese LNs, so the style is somewhat similar. Please do give it a try. You can also drop a review. I'd love to hear some feedback of any kind, since this is my first attempt at writing a full series. Thanks guys. P.S. Nah. He's not OP at all. He's definitely not a combat savant and he does lose to the plots of the antagonists at times. It's not a cultivation novel so it's not about the MC becoming invincible. It's a kingdom building and management novel with some politics thrown into the mix. View More

Oops. Sorry. Mixed you up with another poster. My bad. Anyway, I'm not looking to argue with you and apologize if I did sound belligerent and stuff. I swear that was not what I was going for. Anyway, let's just agree to disagree. Have a good one then. View More

kcorny: "Uh, I wasn't really trying to be confrontational though. Sorry if it came across that way."

It didn't, just overly defensive and belligerent.

"Like you said in an earlier post, methodical kingdom building just isn't for you, and that's fine."

It seems reading-comprehension is not for you. I never said anything of the sort. I am a big fan of Kingdom Building, but it needs to be done well. This just is not.

"Bust as far as kingdom building novels go, this is one of the better-paced ones."

Disagree. Out of Space, Release that Witch, The World Online, just to name a few. All of them managed to capture and hold my interest in the first 3-5 chapters, not to mention 20.

"It's like a more grounded version of Release that Witch (minus the OP witch magic and psuedo harem)."

Not from the first 20 chapters it is not.

"It's cool if that's not your cup of tea."

Oh, it totally is. I love these kinds of novels. This one has done nothing to convince me it is anything of the sort yet.

"Everybody's got their own tastes and I respect that."

Info dumps, dry prose and filler are not the same things you moron. I never said its word-padding or filler. It is a dry read though and there is a lot of information about the world to digest at once.

"Everything's interconnected one way or another and does in fact have an influence in the general scheme of things."

Yet there are ways to introduce these concepts other than the MC remembering 2-3 paragraphs full of information i get shoved down my throat.

"Some of the popular works here do have tons of filler to pad the word count. Case in point: Summoning the Holy Sword. Some the info dump chapters of that novel are drier than dry wood. And not everything is relevant to story progression. "

Irrelevant and beside the point. Also: We are not talking about Summoning the Holy Sword. We are talking about this novel right here. Stop trying to change the topic.

It's the prequel to both this and Record of Unusual Creatures. It's basically the rise of a mortal organization into a pan-universal high-tech godly pantheon that rules our entire universe. Zafarak55: Finally!!! the top novel that can be treated the same as RTW and Lord of the Mysteries. This novel is slow in the beginning but the story is incredibly intriguing and picks up the pace after 30-40 chaps. i even braved the risk and read in MTL and the story is simply fantastic. a mix of Politics, kingdom building and Mystery. Along for the ride are Dragons,Elfs, and sirens. So steel yourself and begin your journey, youll never regret it.

The MC understands that he has to use this world knowledge of magic with modern society ideology of social structure to build his kingdom.

Sleeping_Racoon: A quite enjoyable kingdom building story so far. The beginning is slow, and so far it's about building/talking stuffs, There's not much of a fight, so if you're looking for action, looks elsewhere. Can't say much about the characters other than the mc and one of the side chars, as they still lack developments.

The mc himself is somewhat good. Logical most of the times, but careless sometimes (when first adapting to his new body and regarding stuffs related to his secrets). Other than his carelessness, he is good at trying to adapt to this new world. Trying to understand the world's rules and work with them, instead of just using modern knowledge as if the world is the same one.

While one of the side character is annoying for me. Like other reviewer said, she is a chatterbox. She is also more "developed" than the mc's descendants, as it seems she would be used more in the plot with her mysterious background, and interact more with him than his own descendants.

The world building is not that bad, you got politics, multiple races, studying magic, divine power and gods, as well as alien? (Connection to the author's other novel?).

Good potential, I'd say.

It's more of a kingdom building novel than action so the MC isn't all that powerful at the start. Think Release that Witch. Roland can't fight enemies on his own either. But their most potent weapons are knowledge and viewpoints from modern times View More

arbiter: High expectations because of top reviews here but... sigh..

For me, its just average, in bad terms, its lame :/

I was expecting a somewhat op but not overly op, just strong to stronger genre, cause you know, an ancestor, strongest hero/warrior, first pioneer, blablabla, he even was a somewhat like a soul in the sky watching everything formed, but nothing note-worthy advantage, it was like useless, i dont even know why the author introduced him like that. His personality is cringe for me, i was expecting a somewhat like Overlord vibes, but meh its so far from that.

Ofcourse i didnt really read everything, well because its locked starting chapter 40, didn't want to continue cause its boring for me, mostly because already 39 chapters but still didnt hooked me, but maybe, perhaps that later on it'll hit my spot if i continued and everything i questioned so far is explained, but i don't wanna waste coins and pass if im not sure.

I rarely leave bad reviews to a novel, i usually support everything because i understood them, especially those novels from originals, but because of too high expectations from the top reviews gave me, i'll be just honest with my review.

Well i understand that everyone has different taste, it just disappointed me, first with reviews, and second with what i read from early chapters, i really thought that there will be an Overlord vibes with the way i read it, some famous strong ancestor take over, some benefits and advantages with his state from the beginning, but nothing like that so far, he even struggled at the beginning fighting some mobs(supposedly), in my words, i dont like a grand opening but lame performance.

kcorny: Yeah thats a **** argument. I read in other review that the story picks up after 30-40 chapters. Thats alright with me, but the chapters leading up to that need to be more than infodumps and dry prose. Nobody will read tens of chapters hoping the story will get better eventually when there are not even 100 chapters released.

Zafarak55: I'm sure that you never bothered to comprehend the story. The start of stories are always slow in order to provide a decent world-building, The fact that you wish for action in the first 10 chapters is mind-boggling to me. The reason they talk is to provide a general outline of a situation as the main character just arrived in a body that was dead for over 700 years and wishes to understand the general situation otherwise he would have been a god if he knew everything from the get go.

On the contrary, I think it's quite a breath of fresh air. The MC is forced to think out of the box and truly conform to the rules of the world he's been reincarnated to because even the most fundamental laws of physics in the world he's transmigrated to is different from that of Earth. So some of the most epochal technological breakthroughs on Earth like steam power can't be applied unless he's able to completely unravel the changed rules of the natural world.

So what did the MC do? He turned to the existing tech tree of the world he's in and is beginning to develop with it as a base. That means use of magic, druidism etc. to enhance the quality of living and production/self sufficiency of the medieval society he's thrust into. He's also guiding the people's mentality from the backward social norms and beliefs of the medieval period to that of more modern times. And he makes good use of knowledge he had from Earth in order to do do.

Basically, it's kinda like RTW with the use of magic to develop tech and shape social norms. But it's taken further in this novel since there are no broken witch powers and Earth tech. Instead, the focus is the development of existing magic tech for universality and ease of use in order to reach the standards of modern Earth. View More

TYErannical: I don't understand the point of making him a transmigrated hero, who before transmitting fully had to spend hundreds of thousands of years observing the world, if your going to make his past knowledge completely useless. He has proven to be unreliable and useless when it came to any type of information throughout the entirety of the chapters I read.

The main character, having past acclamations as being a world observing hundreds of thousands year old entity, as well as an accomplished hero, is written in a way that makes him feel ordinary and not special in any regards.

The story is written in such a way that it brings no emotions from the reader. I can't exactly pin point the exact reasons why, but I have managed to get a basic generalization an this is. First, the bland descriptions of actions, places, and things. Serves to make the story take a very one note plot.
Secondly, the lack of character descriptions when it comes to the characters emotions and actions makes the story even more monotonous. Couple this reason with the first then you've got a very bland story that doesn't manifest any good emotions when reading it.

Oh and I read the first 60 chapters not just 15 like it says.

UnliMegane: I've been reading a lot of reviews mentioning a slow pace, and frankly, I don't think the pace is slow at all. I've read the likes of Ze Tian Ji (enjoyed it too) and the pace of this novel is quite a bit faster than that gem.

And do remember that this is actually somewhat of a kingdom building novel (though I'm sure it'll develop into something much grander in the future) and not a typical cultivation novel. For a kingdom building novel, this pace is actually quite balanced. The title can be a bit misleading though (since it sounds like your typical cultivation novel).

Yuan Tong's works tend to have pretty solid world building. And this one is shaping up into another great read. Fair warning though. People with short attention spans or those who dislike the more gradual and methodical approach to story development of the kingdom building sub-genre would probably be bored out of their minds.

It's actually a far cry from this review. The pace is reasonable enough for a kingdom building novel. Remember kids, this isn't your cookie cutter cultivation novel with a rehashed plot and stale characters. It's about a guy who reincarnated into a medieval world of swords and magic who makes use of his modern Earth knowledge in order to gradually build up his territory and carve a place for himself in the said world.

But it also doesn't follow the usual trope of making use of Earth tech to get a head start. He actually needs to build up an entirely new tech tree based on magic. It would be a gradual process, but I'm sure the payoff would be totally worth it. View More

luflaga: The pace is so slow. I was at chapter 39 and he has not touched a sword at all to become the "sword of dawnbreaker". It is up to you if you want to hit the "unlock" button and read how he brushed his teeth and how he went to the toilet and take a poop.

His talent names really seem kinda divine in nature. Self affirmation can bring his ability closer to something beyond humanity, a possible divine nature grants his possessions the attribute of being indestructible, and he can even manifest divine wrath. Quite the foreshadowing. View More
