okay I have to say the story is okay like just okay it was pretty good at the beginning it only lacked some good male characters because it would make it feel less like a power fantasy, in terms of chapter count the relationship advancement was okay but in terms of time actually spent for ethan it should take longer. the pacing was quite fine, I like trying to make a spin on what Harry Potter was providing in terms of magic HOWEVER it just got WAY WORSE after the tide bringer arc like literally THE WORST decision the author made any type of balance the story had before that got destroyed cause anything the author does at this point to Ethan in terms of power to not make him one shot everything is bullshit and a MASSIVE power creep for ethan. like that arc would be fine IF IT WAS LATER ON, author with the academy pretty much set up 4 whole years of time this story can take place in. if this set up time was use better instead of rushing everything in his first year of study then I wouldn't have any complaints. like the first whole year to better expand on the relationship with luna and chloe as well as setting up his basics of magic while slightly revealing to us more about his heritage would be good. and the rest 3 years used similarly since he is supposed to have 5 wives he can get 1 each year while properly developing their relationship and instead of explosive growth. the tide bringers legacy would be nice for 3rd year stuff and not at the beginning either. also just to show how stupid the power scaling got at the beginning the wendigo was supposed to be some big boss the strongest wizards and witches had trouble with it and the forest overlords that were supposed to be stronger than the vast majority of wizards and witches had to gang up on him and it still wasn't enough they had to use the headmaster and the academy's protector involved as well. but now in the story it's very clear Henry should've been able to one shot koko and solo that wendigo. because they nearly killed(since ethan captured it instead) a wendigo that was supposed to be WAY STRONGER than the one before it with a team of wizards that were supposed to be much less skilled and power than them. LIKE DON'T YOU SEE HOW STUPID THAT IS. also from everything shown so far ethan at the sea should be pretty much be able to beat ANYONE because nobody's feats are on the level of being against the sea. anyway that's it for my rant.

there are a few things wrong with this statement. like we do NOT actually know what the root is like at all. we know some speculations, that everything originated from it and the prize for opening up the path to it is true magic but nasu specifically does not mention what it is cause it's supposed to be beyond any comprehension. as for 2 entities guarding it well, that's partially correct? the root doesn't really need guardians they aren't guarding it they are preventing access cause it's dangerous for them.
