Silas Tylers is left behind as part of the fourth of the population who has no superhuman powers, and when his best friend is wronged by the society built around these abilities, no justice can be found except power.

"I walked in a world full of the evolved, but I wasn't one of them. In the Evolution, it was estimated that seventy-five percent of the world gained some varying degree of special power. That left the other twenty-five percent to be the basics. Me? I, Silas Tylers, am as basic as they come."
