Lampoon the Moon.
LOTM is an incredibly well-constructed blend of fantasy-horror-steampunk-mystery genre fiction, with a compelling cast, a fascinating world, and one of the most engaging magic systems I've come across.
The specific mix of Victorian steampunk setting and fin-de-siècle themes is an uncommon choice - requiring that much more development to bring to life, but this slight unfamiliarity makes it all the more compelling. The world feels as though it is just out of reach; realistic and relatable, but with a vague and ethereal otherness that drives the reader forward.
While it may seem dense or plodding at first, LOTM's beginning is a slow-burn that is worth savouring. The sense of delayed gratification from the initial act's denouement is a core part of the magic. The leisurely introduction allows for a deeper and more sincere investment in the setting and protagonist, and provides the fuel to justify the frenetic pace as the mystery deepens and the story progresses. And to be clear, once the pace picks up, it does not stop (regardless of how badly you need to stop reading and go to sleep).
At the end of the day, a mystery is only ever as good as its resolution, and the most welcome surprise of all is that LOTM manages to consistently deliver on this promise. As each layer of fog is uncovered, a perfectly satisfying balance of explanation and complication of the fool's journey is revealed - deftly building tension until releasing it through explosive action as the narrative wends its way unrelentingly forward to the next layer.
There is such a gratifying degree of depth and attention to detail in LOTM that the author's passion for their creation, and the staggering amount of work it must have taken to realise it, is never in doubt.
This story is a phenomenal achievement, and one I will think about often and fondly for many, many years - a true mind-worm, as it were.

I am not a fan of the MC gaining godly powers. The novel was best at the point where the MC wasn´t that powerful at all and had to deal with all sorts of dangers, situations and characters to survive in a dangerous world full with adventure. The meetings were a bit boring and could have been skipped more. The story-telling, world setting and alot of the characters are great. The switch of setting and roles adds also spice and keep things interesting.
In general this is one of the best webnovels I have read and one of the few that got me really exited to read the next chapter - but there is room for improvement.
In my opinion it would have been better to start a new story without all the ranking/"leveling up" but with a similar/the same setting - so like harry potter but with this setting and an more brutal world for adults. The 18./19.- century-setting, following the demise of our modern society, in combination with mysteries and otherworldly stuff, outside the standard spell/magic-setting from fantasy-novels, was actually great. So 5/5 stars for the world background. There are other novels, printed books, with similar settings, that hat less depth (might me the number of pages though....).
Regarding the story: I feel alot of build-up, world-building etc. was wasted in the end with the story itself falling behind. The whole end felt rushed and unfinished. The writing, design etc. was great- but it missed perfection. Still absolutely worth a read. Like I said, one of the best web-/online-novels out there :)
Es la mejor novela que he leído, ciertamente Klein es mi personaje fav, por último mi faceta fav de Klain es sin duda gehrman sparrow
Por último praise the fool🛐
I'm shamelessly giving it 5 Stars and it absolutely deserves it. where do i start from
it's world building, details, character designs, lores, lovecraftian mythos, plot structure, foreshadowings, memorable side characters, consistent protagonist it has everything that a reader needs.
my only advice will be, if it feels slow to you at start then just read till end of volume 1 and if it still doesn't get to your liking then drop it.
I don't usually read translations but this is one of the good ones. I can see why its rated so highly. I'm getting close to the end of the free chapters though!
Lord of the Mysteries LOTM is an amazing book . The whole reason I am in Webnovel is LOTM. Initially I found it hard to read but as I got into it, what do you know!! It’s a very appealing story will ongoing suspense with satisfying plots. And our MC Klein and his intelligence and astuteness is out of this world *literally*. Good balance of action, playfulness, emotional scenes and mysteries!! It’s a must read. Our little *gatherings* are to die for. Re-read so many times and I know I will again.
