Synopsis

Helga Holland. Countess Farkas. She wasn’t a bad person, but the hand life had dealt her made her wonder if she was. An abusive husband who wanted her for power, the consistent adultery in their shared bed, the denial of her family’s rightful occupation; it made her question what she had done wrong. There was always a plot to kill her, always a person who despised her for what she had in her arsenal, yet she wasn’t cruel to a single one of them unless they deserved it.
There was only so much love she could give in her own way and so much abuse she could stomach. One mistake would change everything for her. Upon inviting the Emperor of Losdin to one of the parties, she gets pushed to the edge and discarded.

Arkasha Saxe was an Emperor who tried to lead fairly. His work came before his personal life but as he neared his thirties, there was push from his advisors and ministers to name an empress and give birth to an heir. Those he found viable he knew would be after his crown and the high life, nothing else. He humored the courts though, going to the many parties he was invited to in hopes of finding a woman to sate them. None of them could understand him until Helga came under his roof.
He didn’t realize what he’d have to work through, what he’d have to witness upon trying to woo her. She wasn’t only capable but one of his own kind. It was worth more to him than the crown that settled heavily upon his head.
